    My biggest compliment for eliminating the unnerving fast forwards, and unnecessary music in your vids. Just that is a deal breaker. I am subscribed. Can't wait for the next.

    Matt, the absolutely deadpan line "okay I've converted this over to metric" just killed me. Very funny, thanks for the great video! Looking forward to the series

    I wouldn't worry about your gantry legs, you have them fixed good, they're going nowhere. The machine is looking better already with just a wash.Looking good Matt. Keep smilin.

    Great start. This is going to be a very interesting project. And, like with the dozer, once you're done with it, it will be a very reliable, good looking piece of equipment.
    Two thoughts:
    While you have the radiator out, it may be helpful to power flush the block and heater core. Clean out any of the crap that's in there.
    Your dog looks like he's a good partner, and wants to play. You're a lucky man.

    Excited to see this machine again. The hydraulic system is no doubt going to be the main cost in repairs, I'd hate to be the guy sourcing parts for this thing but I do enjoy watching the work get done.

    Nice video Matt!
    I'll share something I learned that may help you. When I need to use extensions and sockets to get into a tight place, i use electrical tape. tape the socket to the extension and tape the extensions together. They wont fall off and cause delays. Just leave a small tag of tape at the end to make removal easy. Best wishes on this project!

    Well love big projects but here something to things about as you take your hydraulic lines off use zip tie of different colors. That will help you put the new lines off. When it come time to take your lift cylinders off your boom put a 4X4 X 8 across your tracks .as for the wiring one line at a time same gauge of wire . Have fun

    *- With longer gusseting at the top of your lift, I bet your gantry would be sate picking a lot of weight.*
    *- If you change it, I would be interested in finding out what its fail point is using swinging weights.*
    *- That could be a most entertaining and educational video in and of itself, Matt.*

  • @terryrogers1025
    @terryrogers1025 ปีที่แล้ว +68

    Sometimes a person unfortunately becomes their own worst enemy, ( vertical columns on the gantry). Looking forward to this rebuild, I have spent many hours on hydraulic systems, and field line boring, and many cylinder rebuilds on excavators. You always come up with some pretty innovative ideas, and I really like that, thanks for the update young man. I like your puppy dog too.

    • @RobertFay
      @RobertFay ปีที่แล้ว +4

      *- With longer gusseting at the top and perhaps added angle iron like the splitting-fix, I suspect his present gantry could safely pick more than expected...what would be your experienced perspective my guesstimate?*
      *- I would also like to see a fail/destruction test by swinging weights if Matt does do a gantry rebuild. That would be good entertainment and educational in my view.*

      Early in the dozer build, the dog was just not too keen on the master talking to thin air. The pup really has become used to the camera now. It was very funny to watch the dog with that "who the hell are you talking to" look. Made me laugh and comment on it.

    I really enjoyed the Cat rebuild. I watched every episode. I plan to do the same on the rebuild of this Track Hoe. The rebuild of the Track Hoe will be a great one-of-a-kind video for anyone needing documentation of working on one of these. I tremendously enjoyed your D4rebuild which primarily had subtitles. At 78 yrs. of age, my hearing is pretty well shot. Just watched Starting the excavator rebuild and understood very little of your comments - which are also enjoyable for style. I'm guessing subtitles take mega manual time. the best advice I could give is to remove anything in your way. You will spend less time, and keep your sanity. even though you think it will take longer. Also take off all of the sheet metal and straighten/replace as needed don't fight things (equipment doesn't have feelings but you do, your mental health will thank you, but your wallet and clock might not) love the channel extremely jealous.
