When it comes to collecting, you just have to change things up to keep it interesting. You can stare at a figure on a shelf for only so long. I say change your display up, but keep collecting the “best” modern variants for when you will likely revisit that setup again in the future. Only sell things if you need the money, because I can assure you, you’ll regret having sold something at some point in the future.

Totally up to you, Bert! I collected 3.75 inch figures for a while and then suddenly stopped. I then found myself collecting only Black Series Mandalorians with the caveats being no repaints…happy to say that I own only 1 Boba Fett and 1 Din Djarin 😅
The price to value ratio has hit a tipping point with 3.75 inch figures. They simply are not worth the price, especially as a fully newly tooled figure is few and far between these days.
It's okay not to have the latest and the best. Their goal is to get people to buy these characters over and over again. If we all do that, they win. If you are happy with what you have, keep it and save your money.
Most importantly, you do what makes you happy. But for me, the vintage Kenner figures each displayed next to your favorite “modern” equivalent is the best. I like the story it tells and I even like that it’s based on the original toy line even more than movie accuracy. Personally, I’d rather have those pairs and not even bother to update the dioramas if they make you happy the way they are.
Funny thing- I should have said how the “comparison display” originated- I found my self taking figures out of dioramas so I could compare them to the vintage figure, but I’d never get them back in the right position, or I’d knock down somebody else in the process, so I decided to just buy one more for the comparison shelf. But - the dioramas come first- as much as I like the comparison tower, I like my dioramas even more. But maybe I don’t need to replace every Princess Leia figure.
Those mini rigs need to be displayed...in MY collection! The new Death Star Droid looks like nothing except AP-5 from Rebels (though AP-5 is sorta a metalized purple). I kept expecting to see that made on a Rebels card but they never made it- and now I'm looking for the Death Star Droid to repaint into AP-5. Weird. It certainly doesn't look like the nearly black droid seen briefly in the OT. ANY you can really see how Hasbro has shifted towards 1:24 scale when compared with the 1:18 Kenner version. The worst case of this is with the recent female Mandalorian figures- particularly Sabine! She looks like a child- a head shorter than Din Jarin or Boba Fett!

Great video. I do like your revolving display, having it all Kenner figures would look rad. I am buying at least 5 of the new TVC Lukes looking at how many I need for my displays plus a carded one. They are also a lot more expensive over here!
So many Lukes are necessary! The cantina, the landspeeder, purchasing the droids, Hanging out on the Falcon, at Obi WAN’s hut, and that’s just the setups I have started so far!

I would definitely slow down on collecting if the wallet can’t handle it but don’t quit your passion. Yes, the responses to this video have given me a lot to think about! I have always just found the figures I’ve needed for displays over time, but I do feel this urge to just buy what I want now, and not have to hunt for deals and loose figures so much these days.
Quit it!! I stick to Kenner and then collect Customs from Stan Solo, The Next 17, Outer Rim and Pro Customs. This way you are sticking with basic figures and they are not producing figures that you already have constantly. These guys have carved the market up really well and each produce a different wave of figures and are either factory produced or resin cast (not 3D printed). We can all admit Hasbro figures are better with more than 5 POA's and more accurate sculpts but you will be spending a fortune rebuying figures they have already made and still waiting for the ones you always wanted. Then there's always the issue of space and how to display, lets face it we've all seen collections that are so crammed that in the end they look like a junk shop and half of the stuff is just kept in boxes. Anyway that's my 10 pence worth, you do what you want and be happy remember it's your collection and your money :O) enjoy

But the idea of your display is nice - to have the vintage toy and then the best 3.75" version of it. I just dont understand why you would need to update every Leia in your scenarios with the best one (currently) if you dont find the figure on big sales, just leave the other scenes as they are now.
I’ve been down the Warhammer 40K road too. About updating Princess Leia in every scene- I think you’re right. I’m kind of obsessive about my dioramas, but for now I just bought 2 and I’m holding off on replacing all of them for when I need to spend a little more for free shipping someplace, or when there’s a clearance sale.
@@noskillcustoms its interesting that they had a golden goose which laid golden eggs every day and instead of just collecting the eggs, they killed the goose for one big meal.
I gave up on the vintage collection because the stupid gummy hands dont hold their weapons properly. Tvc dark times vader and deluxe boba fett are both absolutely amazing figures though.
Yeah no idea why the hair is so light. I haven’t gotten around to it, but I thought a wash of really dark brown might make it perfect. I love the likeness though. It’s not perfect, but I can’t imagine much better at this scale.
I have got to say I disagree with you with the 2 awesome figures that you are not happy with and complaining about and both of them are really good figures so why are you not happy with both of them

It’s just that she is SO much better than previous versions that I want to replace every old one that I have which is more than I should and it’s making me rethink my collection. 8D8 isn’t really a good figure, though-he’s just valuable because he’s rare and a pack in. So while some aspects of the figure are better than the previous version, he’s not enough better to warrant me keeping 2 of him.
Yeah I do agree that some of them are not very great but it’s what it is hasbro can’t not get some of them right even some of the old figures are very bad but am happy with both of them so I haven’t got no complaints but I like I said I do have some mix feelings with the old figures I can see way you coming from
