I started my dreads with extremely short hair. It slightly bigger than waves for reference. It definitely was a humbling experience, I'm 1.5 years in and my hair is past my eyes, dreads saved my life
I remember watching videos like this at my beginning. I’m on my 9th year now. Few things. Don’t overtwist but don’t go too long without one, know YOUR perfect medium. Don’t overuse products. Water/rose water and essential oils works wonders. Don’t get styled too tight for obvi reasons. And keep your hair clean. Use a brush for lint (mature locs only) or wear satin/silk headwear.
With a crochet comb you pull the hair into the dread then you twist the comb so you can unhook the hair... you twist it again and hook the hair and pull back into the dread then once in the dread you twist the crochet comb again to unhook the hair and repeat.... it doesnt break hair incase your just ripping at it
Yeah, I'm cutting mine 😌 it's time for me. I just want to try styles I've always wanted. I'm sick of being my hair, I loved the locs but I was only did them for others and not for me.
Holy shit we have the same hairline 6:29 I was always so insecure about it and I’ve even thought about cutting my hair off because I thought it was a problem with how I grew my hair. Thanks for the video homie
I don’t agree with tapering the sides and shaving down the top part because when you get styles it pulls your hair back. So if you getting styles then tapering and shaving down certain areas. Eventually it will make your edges thinner and push your hairline back further especially if you have thin areas it’s best to let it grown in
What kind of locking gel do you recommend. I’ve recently moved from Memphis back to California. The hair game is in the south. All that’s around here is Sally’s and Walmart. I can’t go on like this. Please help!!!
All of His products in his bio are perfect for locs but me personally I used rosé water and oil and that’s it 🤣🤷🏾♂️ but you should’ve stayed in the city
I have some thin locs and some thick ones and I'm learning that the longer they get the thicker they need to be. Also I need to be careful about getting them snagged and tugging them because I just broke a solid 4 inches off one 😭
I've been trying to loc my own hair but when I start the root is super lose. FYI I use the twist and rip method. I also don't own a crochet hook. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm doin wrong or how to fix it?
Can you please do a video helping straight hair starter dreads from coming in together. I've tried elastics but they loose hairs always combine onto different dreads
Hi I’ve lived with locs and very strait hair most of my life , done them three times using different methods. Lesson learned that was a god send for strait hair bicarbonate of soda! long soak hair then clean out before you begin, your hair will feel dry and like straw as it will strip grease but it’s not ph unfriendly to your hair. Your hair will hold four maybe five times better while they form, this is also really good for people who get greasy hair fast or often I still do a deep clean every so often with this , just don’t go nuts a little is a lot. Rip and twist or crochet is a winner for straight hair I’m currently on my third journey, I’ve done twist & rip and neglect between when I’ve decided to tidy up. My aim was to have my hair simple, I don’t need a comb it’s just my hands and I can do them while I’m fishing if I feel like it Shocking these ones to me look to be the nicest form, they cost me 0£ in product since I have bicarbonate of soda at home
So I have a question. So I know there’s a lot of dead hair in your locs, so when I Retwist my hair (I also use the twist sponge) a lot of hair falls out. Is that a bad thing or it’s normal? I had my locs for 3 months
In my opinion, I don’t rlly think straight hair dreads look good, it kinda look nasty, weird, and unnatural. You should prob only get dreads if your hair type is from 3b-4c. But you don’t have to listen to me, if you think it looks good go for it.
Whether it’s gon suit u depends on your face and features If you look like Tom hanks best believe youll look goofy There’s a variety of good hairstyles for non curly/kinky hair that u can get And believe me locks are a huge commitment And with 2c hair best believe your shit won’t look any good until 6 months But you never know Jason Momoa probably had the best locs with straight/wavy hair and his were fire af Point is If you’re not sure you’ll stick with the journey you’re wasting your time The only real way to see if locs will look good on you is if u fuck around and find out And btw Call em locks The lock community gon be on your ass
I got my dreads after having braids for a year an 3 months (texturizer) wish me well I had to start my logs with the two strand twist to lock hopefully it locks
2 strand twist my boy itll take 3 months. im mixed so i got 3b but ive been locd for 3 years now. also when you wash make sure its twisted up because our hair will unravel easily when wet if we not fully locd and itll regress your progress by a lot. make sure to moisturize but i recently found it better to mist your hair instead of rubbing the oil directly into the scalp which will pull hair out of the locs and give it lots of frizz.
Not to be a PC police but can you change it to Locs instead of dreadlocks. It’s a very colonialist term that takes away from the beauty of the hairstyle.

Crocheting and interlocking, what would u recommend?
Do you have a preference over thick or thin dreadlocks
thick all the way
thick lasts longer and look healthier but with skinny dreads you have more and hair looks more full
Doesn’t matter you jus the e to take care thicker last longer in the long run
Do a review on WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt's dreadlocks
