@@themaskedkid8495 So I've heard :/ I mean the majority of console ports of DOOM were crap anyway, but yeah I know there was some shady nonsense went on with a few.
Well, ya know, if MP3 would have existed back in 1993 instead of just MIDI synthesizing, we probably could have wound up with soundtracks that were this good for PC.
@@WedgeBob It's a nice thought, but mp3 really isn't good as a looping format at all. It's got some kinda weird restriction where there has to be a speck of silence at the beginning of the file. We also have stuff like OGG now, which is way better for it.
@@reloadpsi Wait, so that one speck of silence I kept encountering while trying to make looping sound effects was actually part of the mp3 format itself? That explains a lot, thanks!
Ouch. Of all the improved metal tracks, truly making these slower songs much more atmospheric hits harder than the metal improvements. That bell hits the spot like it's an environmental sounding bell that just completes the track.
Nope, the 3DO had a good portion of the music cut out along with some of the levels from the original. However the music they did include were re-recorded and most of it sounds bad-ass including the 3DO rendition of E1M1. The 3DO supported CD music and they took advantage of it.
Oh my sad cowboy hours, this is beautiful. It sounds so empty, yet so emotional at the same time. The guitar is giving Western movie vibes and that's not something I ever thought would work for DOOM - but it really, really does.
If anybody knows the history behind the development of this port then they'd know this was the only thing randy Scott contributed to the making of this game
this version of the soundtrack is how i always wished the original sounded, just felt a little to compressed and odd in the original, like the composition was their but the tools they used didnt quite fit, but this...this is perfect.
The soundtrack in the original only sounds as good as the hardware in your PC, as it did not use prerecorded music. It's essentially sheet music for computers. If you've only heard it through the barely passable software synth that Windows has included since 95 I know what you mean. It can sound far better with a proper sound card or tone module!

Probably the best version of E1M8 except for that one metal band''s version of Knee Deep in the Dead music. Even then I think this is better because it gets the atmosphere of the level just right. It's the one used in Brutal Doom, I'm pretty sure. Edit: Yeah, it's the Sonic Clang 'album' one, though I think Sign of Evil was done by someone else. Sonic Clang rocked a lot of the songs, though. This might be due to the fact that the game had to be released by the festive period and the lady who actually did this game had to get the code from id software. All of it was done in 11 week's. Rebecca Heineman (sorry for the spelling) is the female equivalent of a mad lad for doing this.
This music is the literal personification of: "This is the end of the line. You're going to die."
That bell, holy shit. Perfect.

sadly its only the music my friend, this game has a story of drama, deception and many other things.

The bell made me realize that a game with a more biblical metal soundtrack would work well considering, well you know.
would work amazing for a CHRISTIAN FPS WHERE YOU PLAY AS MICHEAL SATAN KILLER HIMSELF.
the 3DO music didn't had to go that hard
they did, they went beyond hard, this is beautiful

This reminds me a lot of Goro's theme from MK on the Sega Genesis.
The bell really makes this track seem more horrifying...
Feels like being alone with no team, death around every corner and way too much dread nearing your end of your life
Even though this port is ass, it still manages to have an awesome soundtrack

i hope the remaster this classic but ith the 3do music, is amazing and by far the best part of that port
maybe a nightdive remaster that adds all cut content of doom, PlayStation Doom, Jaguar Doom and all the versions of the OST.
