    People in the comments absolutely forgetting that India and Pakistan used to be the same country like 70 years ago. The history is shared, the culture same, and traditions combined. You can't simply avoid history.

      This culture here isn't much of a Pakistani tradition, you're right bro it was one country to begin with, but after Partition the differences have become more prominent than ever. As far as the aesthetics & culture of this series are concerned, neither Urdu nor Sakal Ban composition is originally from Pakistan so to speak strictly. Its only the location of Heeramandi which is in Lahore (present day Pakistan) but there also tawaifs were more like Punjabi culture oriented, those tawaifs apparantly wore salwar kameez not the dresses shown up here (as seen from actual pictures and from Pakistani movies & drama), to see proper Urdu tawaifs one should look at tawaif tradition of Lucknow not Lahore. This seems Lucknow inspired Lahore not authentic Lahore!

      Don't call this culture a cult, this is sheer disrespect & blind hatred, have your words minded, when you yourself cannot tolerate a word against your culture why are you targeting someone else's culture. It doesn't represent any particular religion or community. Its simply Urdu culture of India that needs to be recognised for what it is. And its one of the native Indian cultures. Why would you call this a cult?? Tawaifs, Devdasis, Baijis are not a cult they have been there since the beginning of times, from the Magadh empire to the Mughals. It's the British who downgraded them judging through their outdated Victorian morals, they were noble, educated and talented women who upheld Indian art, music and dance.

      @@Account-user Its one of the most tragic demise of culture that Britishers inflicted upon our society. these women who primarily practice classical dance, music & poetry had to resort to prostituti_n later on due to loss of property & patronage, their downgrading by British Victorian & Christian values blurred the lines between Tawaif & Veshyaa. Unfortunately, this class never fully recovered. Today so called Tawaifs are mostly those who either practice "the other profession" or those who perform dances so different from the original ones. There are hardly any actual Tawaifs left in the country now!

Despite what type of kings they were that's different point. Plus here they came to promote their movie. Urdu is Indian language which was spoken in northern belt of india, even anarkali is mughal dress form didn't you had worn in your life or Kathak which became famous in Lucknow side having gharanas, Munsi premchand was writer who use urdu languages in his work. I wholeheartedly agree with you sister. I'm a proud Hindu with Urdu as my mother tongue, that's a combination beyond their narrow vision, since they're failing to differentiate between Religion, Language & Culture and how highly independent & exclusive each of these terms can be! Well, what abt Biryani, Gulab Jamun, Samosa, Shahi Tukda, Faaluda, Naan, Kebab and then Bollywood songs or Ghazals, or Sitar, Tabla, Santoor, Sarangi, Dilruba etc, are we going to hate them as well just becoz they're Urdu associated?
      How far can we stretch our hatred for our own heritage & our own language? Whatever maybe someone's attitude towards a particular religion, but that shouldn't be mixed up with language & culture, I'm not a fan of I$lam myself, but that can't decide my sentiments for my Urdu. Salute to you btw for being different & smarter than the crowd, I wish more people like you to be around us!🙏❤

      @@virferind7946Maybe because Urdu and things associated with it are given more space by Bollywood than needed. It gets promoted not in proportion to the size of the population that practices those tradition. So much that it has become the center of India story. Like how foreigners only know about Taj Mahal when they imagine India whereas India has so many more architectural marvel other than Taj Mahal. Every other native language and associated things became an after thought with whom majority of people find it easy to connect with. People are bored that Indian history, traditions, art, culture are restricted to Mughal era only. Even after so many decades, they still look foreign for majority of people who remained outside of Mughal influence.

    • @virferind7946
      @virferind7946 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@sumandutta4834 I can understand your point. You're actually right, I agree with you. Indian & core Hindu culture should get the promotion & encouragement it deserves. Our Hindu culture is afterall a living civilization still blooming with every new marvel (Ram Mandir, New Jersey Mandir, Abu Dhabi Mandir, Chandrodaya Mandir). Of course India is much more beyond than Urdu culture & that side should be given weightage in proportion of its importance not just in Bollywood but in our minds & lives. People know about Taj Mahal but not about Brihadeshwar Temple & Kailasa Temple. They know Qutub Minar but not Vijay Stambha.
      But look at Urdu from this point, despite being an integral part of Indian civilization Urdu gets continuously disowned, disregarded & hated by a vast number of its own people, Urdu is hated out of proportion, so doesn't it deserve recognition out of proportion as a matter of equity? If something suffers more than others it should be cared for more than the others, isn't it?
      Another argument could be, many actors, authors & directors of Bollywood have north Indian roots and have an impression of contemporary Urdu elite culture, courtesan tradition & evergreen Urdu shayari, maybe that's a reason why we see such high influence of Urdu in Bollywood esp in songs.
      I'm a Hindu & Urdu speaker at the same time. In both scenario I'm at loss whether it be underrepresentation of Hinduism or backlash over Urdu. I'm absolutely fine with overemphasis on Hinduism, Hindu traditional culture & Hindi language, but I want a small corner of dignity for my Urdu where it would be respected & accepted just like any other language of this nation!

      @virferind7946 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mercedesbenz3751 Stockholm Syndrome is when victim has empathy for abuser! But how do you know that we're "victims" in the first place? You're assuming this culture "necessarily" belongs to abusers or invaders, that's true to an extent, but its not entirely the case, what about Indian contribution & involvement in shaping this culture? So the culture here isn't purely the culture of abusers, its a collective expression of many communities not just one! What my point is, we cannot ignore the Indian component of this culture, so the victim vs abuser divide is not fully clear here (its clear in case of Religion, but not Culture).
      Secondly isn't it not possible that many people might have acquired this culture by naturalisation through staying in the same region, not compulsorily by force & conversion? I don't consider myself victim, I'm an Indian Hindu Urdu speaker by my choice, I appreciate the Hindu contribution in creating Urdu language & her literature, shayari & slogans of our freedom movement.
      So Stockholm Syndrome scenario doesn't fit here completely!

Bharat is always branded based on Taj Mahal and the Delhi sultanate. This is absolutely silly. @@mahendranpradeep505Brother, I'm also an equal Hindu & Indian as you! First of all, to say India's roots are Vedic is very true but it's not universal to all Indian cultures, take cultures of Chhota Nagpur, North East India & Indian islands, their culture is not Vedic. Does that mean they're not Indian?
      Urdu culture is not exactly "the invader's culture". Did they bring Urdu culture with them? No! In fact Urdu formed through the cultural exchange between two civilizations (Indian & Persian), and this synthesis happened in India with a major contribution from Indian side (Sanskrit, Khari Boli, Hindustani, Hindvi are all Indian components of Urdu). Since a larger share is by India & the locality being Indian, the culture is rightfully identified as an Indian culture.
      Urdu has a very strong legacy of Hindu shayars & authors. It has contribution in contemporary Hinduism in the form of texts like Laal Kitaab. It gave slogans like Inquilab Zindabad. Urdu culture has shaped Lucknow style of Kathak dance & Hindustani Classical Music. Urdu has been playing key role in Bollywood & Media. So to link Urdu with a particular community is a grave mistake!
      I do agree a disproportionate importance had being given to Mughal monuments like Taj Mahal, that shouldn't have had happened, but that's not an excuse for you to target Urdu.
      Talking about "true culture of India" doesn't mean one should denounce another type of Indian culture having an equal right to represent India. Definitely Hindu culture is the core & soul of India, but that cannot bar us from not caring Urdu. Can these two cultures not coexist? I'm not talking about coexistence of Hinduism & Islam (I know how Islam is), I'm talking about full compatibility of secular Urdu & Hindi traditions which are beyond these religions.
      We're Pashtun Hindu community & are Urdu speakers, there are Sikhs in India who speak Urdu, there's an Urdu Church in Hyderabad. Many Ex-Muslims are Urdu speakers, so to associate Urdu with certain religion is not justified. This unfairness & injustice won't be taken silently!

      @@virferind7946 you don't have to write so much I can very well understand the point you are trying to arrive at... but still this is not a protest against Urudu... This is about the true essence of Barathiya Culture which is ancient. Will you speak the same for Sanskrit and Thamil which are the most ancient two classical languages of India. My point is why do we have to show case a mere addition while hiding the most precious gem in a chest kept in a dark corner. North India has long lost its true roots because of successive invasions by foreign powers. What is left now is a cocktail of different influences collectively forming an assembled cultural identity. So as Indians we have to brand what is truly ours and not something that was added halfway through. Hope you got my point. Talking about Kathak.... Jaipur Garana and Banarasi Garana preserve the true origins of temple Kathak where as Lucknow Garana is more entertainment based thanks to the ruthless mughals and islamic influences, It is branded as the dance of the courtesans rather than a temple dance.
      Well I am not against improvisation and innovations but we have to respect our origins which is deeply rooted in Vedic Philosophy.... Kindly do your research properly, because there is no culture in India (Tribal and Classical) which does not find it's origins in the Vedhas.

Otherwise most of this is from Urdu Culture of north India centred around Delhi & Lucknow, which doesn't entirely belong to one particular community. Its a form of an Indian culture, not Islamic, but is a mixture of Hindu & Persian elements, originating from north India. To equate it with one particular community or religion would be a disregard to its composite multi-religious nature!

      @@user-do5uw1nz5w Brother, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but the truth must be said! Our offence on Islam is not unreasonable. You can look into Quran & see how it describes the non-Muslims (esp Quran 98:6). If those are the views of Islam on Non-Muslims, how do you expect non-Muslims to like Islam? Would you like a religion that speaks & preaches against you & your religion?
      I personally dislike Islam, but I respect & appreciate those Muslim individuals who remain genuinely good to me, so I'm against Islam as a religion, not against Muslims as individuals. We can hate an religion & its ideology but we should not hate the whole community for the attitude of some people.
      This isn't Islamic culture. It could be Mughal & Urdu Culture but Urdu Culture is not restricted to a particular Religion or Community. Many Non-Muslims also follow Urdu cultural elements. Actual Islamic culture is Arabic not Urdu. Urdu culture is a composite Indo Persian culture native to north India followed by many religions & community. Their are Urdu speaking Hindu, Sikhs & Christians in India (although quite minority) just like there are Urdu speaking Muslims.
