Thank you so much Maymay for the new series. I love all of your videos, you inspire me in so many ways. I lost my mother in July of 2021, She choked on her dinner while I was talking to her on the phone and she passed. As if I didn't already know I knew then that every second is precious. I joined a quilting group with my church we meet once a week and I could not imagine living without those ladies in my life. The funny part about that story is I can't sew at all I just go to match fabric, iron, and have a good laugh. However I do hope to start quilting in 2023.

Can you stand one more thank you for making this video? Well you're gettin' one...Thank you! I have been at this for several years and I'm very much looking forward to this series. For me at least it is always good to see how someone else goes about the same project and maybe learn a better more streamline/economically/with different supplies...or better yet a tool you never knew you needed. I still go back to your "What's on MayMay's Desk" video every now and then.

Thank you for this MAYMAY! I think even when you have been crafting for a while, you need a reminder as to what, why and how! This will help me focus in on what I want to do without getting caught up in trying to organize all the products and end up not producing anything!

Thank you MayMay, I have purchased tons of craft supplies through the years, but don't know where to start. I am going to follow your new series and craft WITH YOU! This is my new goal. I am going to create something every day - even if it's something small. I need this to be something that brings me joy, not anxiety that I did it wrong! You and your trusty sidekicks are great inspiration! Thank you for what you do!

MayMay, i do 'everything PAPER!" from scrapbooks, cards, mini books, big books, cards, dies, mixed media (to a point - it's my newest endeavor)...but never sewing. I stopped short of buying Sillhouette or Cricket machines because i LOVE the tactile hand cutting, x-acto cutting, embossing, paper piercing and fussy cutting by hand. I spent 40 hours a week at a computer and didn't want to have to mess with -- what felt like a computer -- at night too.

Just watch this is morning, with the help of my hubby we removed everything from my craftroom. I am going thru everything and putting it back. I have 15 bone folders and at least 20 pair of sissors. I am not saying the amount of paper I have. I think it will be a no spend year for paper crafts this year.

Thank you thank you thank you. When you said that you bought things because they were beautiful and you loved them, I almost snorted my coffee, because that’s so me. I hope you won’t be offended, but I once saw a shirt that said, Paper Ho. I laughed and laughed because again, that’s me. Love your videos. Thank you so much.

I’ve been a novice paper crafter for years now but every new year there is anxiety. Always catch myself behind in card making for bdays, holidays, etc. A series like this will get me back to basics and remind me what had me turn to paper crafting

I love hearing your story. I started on the top of the dryer…. It was so fun. However my first stamping was when I was a little kid. My grand dad had a business and had several stamps. A Tate stamp and business stamp recieved, invoice and other business stamps. That is when and how I truly started. I even made my own inks.. very juvenile, however I loved it! N with seriousness I have stamped sense 1987.. I have never looked back.

Thank you for doing this! I just started paper crafting at the end of last year and I feel a little lost. Sometimes it feels like I’m learning to drive by starting on the freeway. I stumbled upon your page and maybe it’s because I am also from Alabama, but watching your videos puts me at ease as you talk and takes a lot of the stress out of the process for me. I’m so excited for this journey with you.

MayMay, I look forward to following your new series. I felt like you were talking directly to me. I am the person who had to buy everything and have yet to make a single card. One beginner suggestion might be to focus on one style of card or theme and purchase only enough supplies to make several of the same card. Now all I have to do is practice what I preach. Thanks for all of your advice.

I found your channel this morning and can't get enough! I appreciate the tips you offer and the way you explain yourself. After the 2nd video, I subscribe! Then I found this one, love it. I've been a scrapbooker/paper crafter for almost 30 years. I started scrapbooking after attending a Creative Memories party and was envious of the fact that I did not have any photo albums to look through of myself as a kid... I've been paper crafting since. Your video made me realize I had forgotten my WHY and I need to rediscover that passion. Thank you!

I am looking forward to this series. I have spent the last year (or two), collecting papers, tools and other supplies. I haven't actually done but a couple projects and I really want to. Unfortunately, I have either been overwhelmed or unmotivated (unsure of where to start). This sounds like just what I need.
I watched a lot of another TH-camr for a long time before I finally decided to watch you as well. Lately, the other one has lost my interest for a number of reasons. I am so glad I found you.

Oh my gosh, the trap of buying everything! LOL, it gets me every time!! And oh my yes, I have needed to own alllllll the beautiful papers. All the beautiful fabrics, too. Lately I've been figuring out how to sort through the supplies and pare them down to what I'll actually use. My biggest success so far has been gifting fabric and batting to a friend, and receiving part of it back as bowl cosies. She got supplies for free and I get everyday use of the fabric I love--we both won!!

This is going to be fun! When I started card making (over 20 years ago now), I was thankful that I was in a stamping group, and got direction for what tools to buy. But as I've moved spaces within my condo (Due to my adult child leaving for university, then moving home again), my space is a hot mess, which I am trying to clean up. Thinking of getting rid of a few things, so this series will help immensely :)

i get that about your own store! My husband back in the 80s referred to my craft room as "Michael's West" and now that i've discovered these other great manufacturers (and have an affinity for 'the right tool for the job'), I have ample supplies for any and all of my creations - so much so that hubby doesn't even go in there any more for fear of avalanche!

Great series to have. I wish I had this when I started. How did I start? I was walking through a mall in the late 80s maybe '90... and saw a kiosk full of wood blocks, ink pads, embossing powders, and tons of absolutely gorgeous cards that were more beautiful that store bought. i saw a lady demo a card. I was instantly hooked and bought $100 worth of supplies. A broke college student at the time and those were my only supplies for years. It was at Christmas time so they were all Christmas themed. I still have my first red rubber nativity set, and 2 of the 3 embossing powders form that purchase and they still work! But I never got any more tools... for around 30 years. Yup. And I never learned any more techniques, so I was doing single layer, not ink blending... just stamping. Needless to say I stuck to mostly gorgeous to-from tags that were colored and sparkled up. and very simple cards. Everyone loved the candy cane, fir branch, and bow stamp I did. I last used it probably 5 or 6 years ago, it's still in my collection. Saw a Tim Holtz demo video probably 15-20 years ago and was blown away, but I was in broke mode and did not have means to purchase anything. Five-ish years ago (a couple years before the lockdown) I started to expand my stamp collection and got a bunch of alcoohol inks. Never could master them but still love them. I now have tools, and inks and more varied stamps. Is there really any other season besides Christmas??? LOL Yes, yes there is and I am 'acquiring' some other seasonal stamps and dies to fill that gap!! I have a crafty stamping friend who hoards supplies and sometimes ends up with duplicates that she gives to me! She has literally given me $100s worth of stamps, dies, and supplies. Truly blessed there. Anyway, thanks Maymay... I look forward to your series here and I know I'll learn something wonderful from you, I always do!

I wish I had seen this when I first started my crafting journey. I went to a big scrapbook convention and every Make & Take I did I would buy $30-60 worth of supplies for that craft. Fast forward 4 months and 2/3 of the supplies I bought I either couldn’t remember how to use them or had decided that the technique/craft wasn’t one I wanted to do. Did I learn from that? Oh, no. I did it for 3 conventions a year for about 5 years then spent the next 7-8 years destashing.

I am looking forward to this series. I am a little different from most people because I have never really made any craft. My mother did not sew or knit or do any kind of craft. When I retired a few years back I wanted a hobby so I like you turned to TH-cam and found card making and journal making. It looked easy so I thought I would give it a try. Well to me it looked a lot easier then it was. I bought a ton of stuff. My whole office is full of things and to be honest I have hardly used any of it. I really don't know how to color very well so when I use stamps and I have to color it never looks good and also what weight cardstock to use and paper when you make cards or journals. People on TH-cam when they make a project so many tell the weight of the paper but not the brand and there is a difference in brands. I cannot tell you how much cardstock and paper I have bought so I got frustrated and just quit so I saw where you were doing this series so I am hoping this helps me. Thank you for this series. I think it will help a lot of people and you are a great teacher.

Oh yes...the hook and latch rug kits! And paint by number, plus the little loom for making all the pretty colored pot holders! Lol
Since then, it has been quite an array of things. I love to crochet, do counted cross-stitch, sew, and paper craft...which is high up on that list. Plus, I make journals and other paper related projects. I started with watching videos on making journals...mostly vintage. Now, I'd rather use brighter colors in my paper crafting.
I'm so very excited for your new series!

I love hearing the history of your paper crafting. Crafting is my therapy too. It is an outlet. But I also love to create. You have been my all time best and most influential teacher. I have learned more from you than anyone else over these past 5 years. I love your tutorials and the variety of things you have taught us.

I've been crafting since elementary school. This series speaks to me because it will help me refocus what really like to do and what I need to let go of. I'm doing a declutter/purge/organizing project for me crafts. I'm working on letting go of things that I have owned for 20 years, but never used. Watching your videos does more for me than just teach a project!

I never got into paper crafts until I joined a card making and a card sending group for senior citizens in 2020, but I'm burnt out on ideas. A lot of the 'fancier' tutorials on YT can get confusing or overwhelming and supplies for them can get expensive. Not to mention, too thick/heavy to send in large quantities every month. Hoping maybe your series will help my slump. Your videos are inspiring & explained SO well: always in a calming, patient tone. Thank you so much for all you do.

I am looking forward to this series! I get easily overwhelmed by all the choices, styles and techniques that are out there. I realized that I my visions of grandeur, when I am only learning to crawl, totally disable me…and then I get discouraged and do nothing. Hence, all of my supplies sit in a closet for years.

I absolutely LOVE this, Maymay, and I can’t wait to watch the upcoming videos in this series. I just went to my semi-local scrapbook store yesterday & spent a mini fortune 🤦🏽‍♀️ but I was very selective. I picked up a couple full price paper packs, lots of clearance items and a pair of Cutterbees just like yours! 😉. Then tonight, I started making prayer journals from a single Mintay 6x6 paper pack, while following your 2 part video😊. Next up will be the composition notebook converted to gratitude journal. Thank you so much for your inspiration and strong faith. I just love watching your Sunday devotionals. Much love to you and your small village, aka team ❤. Happy 2023!🎉

This series is a great idea! A few years ago I stopped painting, which was my "main" creative outlet. I decided to try cardmaking. I looked at a bunch of you tube videos but really connected with you and your personality. I watched your videos on how to get started and what main things I needed and it has been wonderful ever since! So, thanks Maymay!!

This will be a great series for me. I just had two new crafters at my card class today and one is very interested in getting into paper crafting whole hog. I believe this series will better help me help her. Great idea for a series.

Thanks for this series! Like you, I got my start as a kid with latch hook and my mother has always been a “stitcher” - cross stitch, plastic canvas, etc. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. ❤

Thank you MayMay. I have been crafting for a long time. I did go out and buy all kinds of paper and they didn't match anything. I need this now. I do not know how to purge what I am not using. Looking forward to this series.

Yep! Just like you I bought every single paper crafting tool and paper, from you, this last year (check my account), and I’m not sure how to use most of them.
I only send cards I make to people who love me, and I know they say oh isn’t that sweet.
I have so many stamps and ink pads, that when I used them (first and last time) I had ink blotches all over the card, and ink stains from my elbows to my fingertips. And that stuff does not wash off.
Looking forward to this new group of videos. Thank you.

i have a question that maybe you can address in your series. i have a few of your stamps that I use for card making but would like to add a few more to my stash. Can you name some of your stamps sets that you think would be a good fit for a beginner card maker?
