The Endless Stationary systems are nice, but I‘d always go for a standard A5/B5 or A6/B6, etc. because of the vast amount of notebook refills available. Of course, you could cut down A5 to fit, but that’s work!
Great review. I’ve always been an analog person and have used the Travelers Company/Midori since 2014. Then I moved into a Roterfaden a year ago and never moved out. It’s the most versatile system I’ve ever used and I love that you can fit any A5 size insert and smaller sizes as well. One thing that’s a deal breaker for me with covers/systems is if you have a hard time finding inserts because the size is not common. And I go through inserts too fast for that but it’s lovely looking.
After seeing your unboxing and comment that Explorer was sized for A5, I went to the website and saw the sizing and got confused. I decided I'd wait for your review before buying. Thanks for confirming that I wasn't wrong about it not being A5.
The size is B6, so there’s probably a lot of different notebooks that would fit in there. Very much a TC dupe, which is fine. I switched to a fantastic Hobonichi dupe for 2025..and that company took what they like about Hobo and got rid of things they didn’t like…and the owner and I have similar tastes. I don’t know a lot about Travelers Co journals and have never used one, but I really like the look of the case, the pen holder and the insert wallet!
@@stuffandthingsyoutube @stuffandthingsyoutube wow good to know! I read multiple reviews that said it didn't, but good to actually see how it fits. I wonder why they said they didn't!
Not sure! Though I did try some Midori MD inserts which were supposedly B6 that didn't fit. They were much smaller than the full B6 inserts that I showed in the video. Maybe some manufacturers' B6 isn't the same as others'.
When I first started watching this Video and you put your hand in to frame with the book I thought, 'Wow.. I know Bradley has BIG hands but sheesh!" and that was because I remembered your Unboxing where you mentioned the A5 compatibility. I do enjoy my own Midori still but I had/have similar issues with the width of the standard Midori so this seems like it might be a good compromise. Zip Pouches and Wallets are a must for these types of Journals, one does not simply carry a single took for use in a Notebook system! I love that it is made of cloth which means it does not as as much bulk as the more stiff plastic versions tend to.
Interesting. It looks like the Baron Fig Vanguard flagship size notebooks would fit, or the Pen & Gear small composition books. B6 is a good balance of writing space and portability.
For those still looking, including Bradley lol, seems like Goulet Pens now offers an exclusive Explorer in A5. Which I want to get but need your opinions on best fountain pen friendly a5 notebook refills.
Great review! B6 size inserts would work in this notebook. I have a B6 Stalogy notebook--which is supposed to be comparable to Tomoe River--v. thin paper, fountain pen friendly, etc. But it does ghost because it's so thin. The upside is huge paper count. :-)
Ah! I'll have to look into B6 notebooks for this! I have a Midori MD Light notebook that's supposed to be B6, but it's a little smaller than actual B6 specs.
@@naahhhhHHHHHHHHHH In the Jan. 15th Sunday Stuff & Things vid, Brad says he ordered some B6 inserts and they fit. Perhaps it depends on the kind of inserts and which TN cover someone is using.
Just FYI, Goulet Pens got Endless to make a true A5 sized version of the Explorer which you can get from them. They say it's a custom product, and I've not seen it anywhere else.
What happened to the ratterfaden?? I thought you like the standard A5 size ? And the standard TN size is weird n this endless don’t you think is weirder size?
I too was in impression that it would fit a5 notebook as i prefer the size. They have stopped the production of Story Board notebook with Tomoe River Paper one of the other reason i bought this system and Regalia Paper is bad for sketching imo. I have mailed them several times to improve their ecosystem for explorer notebook but to no avail as of now there is 2 inserts, that's bad. I like to write and sketch it's kinda therapeutic to me, so money wasn't the issue. I didn't knew about Traveller's notebook availablity in India and probably will switch to Traveller Eventually. Please, Could you ask them to improve the ecosystem of the explorer series?
May I offer a critique? I dove into your post thinking how fun it would be to hear from a man regarding his experience with the Traveler’s Company system. It’s rare to hear men speak on any notebooks that are neither gargantuan nor passport size. I’m a lifelong diarist who has always used fountain pens and notebooks so, I love watching new products or people reviewing their new journals/planners. Sadly, almost immediately, I sensed a disrespectful snideness that I hoped would be limited to just the one punch down on women who enjoy scrapbooking, but alas you continued to make snark after snark after snark throughout this video. Now, I’m not a scrapbooker myself. I strictly use my journals as diaries so, this isn’t coming from someone who was personally affected by sitting in your crosshairs. Rather, I’m someone who uses my journal the way you seem to use yours. That said, I am a woman, though, so I’m erring on the assumption that your haughtiness was directed toward women who like to decorative their notebooks rather than the gender of the people you sniffed. So here’s the thing: To avoid any future clicks-off on your videos, may I suggest that you check your tone when recording your voiceovers. Every time you mentioned women who love Traveler’s, you came off as disdainfully superior and belittling, which was an interesting choice since you freely admitted throughout that you didn’t know anything about the Traveler’s Company system. Ending on a positive, for anyone who may want to try out the system for themselves without dropping a ton of money, try Wanderings or faux leather versions available on Amazon. I bought both a Traveler’s regular size and a B6 to try it out and ended up with a B6 traveler style because it also perfectly holds my Kindle. So, my “system” holds a monthly calendar insert, my Kindle, a grid notebook that I use as a journal, my Ellington fountain pen, plus a canvas “wallet” that I found to be far nicer-and cheaper-than the Midori plastic zipper insert. I love it soooo much! Reading, writing, and planning are all in one place so, I never even have to think about what I’ll need when I leave the house. FYI, I’m 100% stealing your tuppence piece idea!!
I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a detailed comment! Did you mean to leave it on my Midori review though? Regardless, tone won’t always be interpreted the same way by everyone. The swipes at scrapbookers were meant to be tongue in cheek. I watched and enjoyed LOTS of those scrapbook style Midori videos back in the day, and I was in contact with people like MyLifeMits on TH-cam and enjoyed her approach to journaling. I’ve used the full size and passport size Midori for around ten years now. I still think they’re great systems! I poke fun at myself and my own hobbies all the time in my videos, so I don’t take any of it too seriously. Thanks so much for watching!
Weird! I just tried them too. I hope they didn't go out of business! They have some nice products. *edit* Just tried them again. They work! Maybe they were having issues with their site.
wow... So... They copied literally EVERYTHING from Midori. The leather cover, the rubber bands to set up the inserts, the cotton pouch insert and even the name ? That branding brainstorming went like : ok Midori has great products and marketing, we will take everything they did and copy it, trying to improve things when we can. The naming is related to travels, it's called Travelers Notebook, how could we... Yes John ? Explorer ? Yeah sounds great
There are a LOT of Traveler's copycats out there, but this one takes that idea and, in my opinion, improves it with some really good changes. Thanks for watching!
A piece of leather with a rubber band to hold in paper isn’t really an invention to be copied. Maybe the way you market it can be imitated, but as a product not much of an original idea
I'm surprised by this review and it feels very "shilly". There is nothing innovative about Endless and as I watched the review, there was not one new feature identified that Endless brings that hasn't already existed for at least a year, if not more, in another notebook. You can go onto Etsy and there are dozens of TN style notebooks that enhance upon the Midori models. The one feature I heard him differentiate Endless from Midori was the three elastics. There's nothing new or innovative about that. I've been using a TN-style that has 8 elastics and a double wide spine, pockets on both sides of the cover, a built in pen loop, and a cloth wallet. This review is like saying "Hey guys, there's a new model car out that I love. Get this, when you are trying to park, it will beep if you're about to hit something. I like that!" Yea, not everyone knows cars will warn you now and have been able to do so for years, but if someone is going to review cars, they should be quite familiar with today's feature set and what has been available on the market already for some time.
Seriously dude, get a grip. This guy's great and he's reviewing whatever the hell he wants cause it's his channel. Go start ur own if ur so smart and lay off this dude. I found this very helpful for me to decide what notebook I wanted.

The Field Notes Pitch Black large note books are 4.75 x 7.5 so should fit pretty well
