Hi everyone! It's been a while... D:
In this video, I'll show you how I made Thalia, the doll I made for Elfy's Dolls as part of Retro Dolls US' Era Swap!
I based her look on the styles of Classical-period Greece. Her hair was partially inspired by the kore/caryatids of the Erechtheion temple at the Acropolis.

tamakyu the fonts are great. Oh, will you be able to make a traditional oni doll, but with a human appearance. Just asking. Anyway, keep up the amazing designs.

It was a font that was very easy to read.
I love her so much! She's so beautiful and historically accurate! I'm Greek actually, and the funny thing is, my hair's the exact same color as Thalia's (and my eyes are the exact same color as my hair, it's kinda weird). Anyway, keep up the good work!
She's gorgeous! I was really excited to see how you would put her together since I have made an ancient greece custom doll too. I was especially smitten by the way you sew the first hair style on, just like they did in ancient Greece :)

Thank you! 💕 Yeah, I'm not super happy with the eyes, though I think the main problem is the gaze being slightly unfocused, rather than a lack of highlight. I often leave that out since I use gloss varnish over the eyes anyway, and it's usually fine.
Absolutely gorgeous! I'm just amazed by your embroidery talents. And, those sandals are amazing, too.
This repaint is just simply elegant. From the color of her hair, her eyes, dress, and shoes. Just perfect!

@@tamakyuart I'm so excited about it! There's a makeup artist who has a channel named Zabrena and she does historically accurate makeup as well as providing a lot of fun historical facts. Maybe (if it isn't too much exhaustive research, I've never looked into it myself) you could do little historical fashion fact tidbits. Or you could just always keep on keeping on with just making the amazing miniature clothes. Either way, I'm so excited about ittttttt. Looking forward to more videos!

Ahh, watching you reroot is so relaxing to me AHAH! I absolutely loved the level of detail you should it into all your pieces and this one is no different!! Watching you make her shoes and hand stitch the designs for her outfit was literally magical!

Thanks! That's always an important step to me. 💗 This one was just based on the history rather than mythology, but I've wanted to do a Greek mythology series for ages... maybe one day I'll get to it! 😅

Pardon the late comment, but I love this repaint! I've never seen that technique used to blend hair colors and it came out so beautiful and realistic. I also really enjoyed watching you embroider. You're fantastic at it and I very much hope you continue to do so in the future. Thank you for uploading!

She’s lovely. Your embroidery is nice but I do recommend you learn the stem stitch for outlining. Knotting behind each bead is also a good idea.
I have made a Peplos for myself and they are very comfortable. I would have used handkerchief linen myself. Over all the look is very period. I really like Thalia. You did a very nice job and I love the sandals.
Thank you for your comment! 💗 Yes, the fabric weight was definitely annoying... the stuff I used seemed so light until it was all bundled up on her! In future maybe I'll find some pretty scarves to make peplos for other dolls. I'd love to have one for myself someday, too, that sounds lovely!

I love the captions...very clear. I was just thinking about how many neck pegs I have broken and maybe you guys should make it clearer that immersion of the head in hot water makes for easier removal lol!
She is gorgeous as ever! The embroidery is a great touch! Genius with the wire in the sandals! Her hair is lovely! The actual hair is really realistic as it has different colours...is this from Retro Doll? I will have to look at their stuff!
I appreciate your wish for people to show the whole process; however, I personally don’t use hot water to remove the head. I usually use a hairdryer and often remember to show it in the video, but sorry if there are some without that mentioned!

Very very beautiful :) did you wet the hair slightly before flat ironing the braids or can this type of hair take heat?
Thank you! I think I may have sprayed the braids with a little water, since steam can help set the style, but in general, nylon hair is pretty heat resistant! I've used curling wands and straighteners on it with no problem before. However, one thing to note is that the lighter orangey colour here (Morocco) seemed oddly less heat-resistant than the others! It seemed to melt in a few places, like saran almost.
You could do an entire series on ancient dolls.
