  • MIG Brazing Hands-On Skills Development (BRZ02) provides an in-shop, hands-on training that prepares collision repair shops and technicians for the shift to high-strength steel (HSS) and ultra high-strength steel (UHSS) vehicles entering the market. An in-shop pre-course capability and readiness assessment combined with instructor-led practice ensures shops are ahead of the curve.

At age 93 and going to age 94 I am starting to forget my 1950s engineering lessons, I believe I better get back to my old 1950s textbooks again to refresh my memory. Old age sure gets to you from time to time. But I miss the hydrogen arc welding and including the argon arc welding known as argon plasma welding in the nuclear submarine naval yards in the Arctic during the Cold War years!

right back to the old days ,,, goes to show you , braze granted with oxy acet was the go to practice in the hand built car body days. i often find it on some of the vintage stuff i get to repair , and i love braze.

Yes but easier with the electric machine

1.Why is it that NO respirators or apparent ventilation is used in your I-Car demonstration videos? I’ve been warned that heating zinc coated metal is VERY hazardous to your health!
    2. If some joints can be Short Circuit “welded”, couldn’t I use my Miller 140 (which is not a high dollar pulse machine) to Mig Braze some custom fender flares on my ‘96 GM car? I’ve experimented with regular Mig welding, but too much heat/shrinkage and stiffness on this 22 gauge zinc coated crap metal. I had to buff away the zinc coating (being careful not to breathe the dust) before welding, otherwise nothing but spatter and noxious smoke!

Thank you, Rod, for your comment. Our response to each of your comments follow:
      1) The footage was taken at a dedicated training facility. There is a large fume extraction system outside of the camera’s view. This system evacuates all harmful fumes away from the operator. However, you are correct that welding fumes are hazardous, and provisions must be applied to protect the operator or nearby people.
      2) We always refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications to determine which type of welder is needed for each type of repair.

А скажите пожалуйста,-пайка тоже крепкая как сварка для кузовов фольксваген?

If icar specifically states that silicone bronze mig brazing is an adhesion, NOT FUSION!, and its heat and breaking strength is SIGNIFICANTLY LESS how is it recommended to brake structural components back together?!

The MIG brazing class addresses your question, however, when done properly, will have a larger footprint or surface area contact than a steel fusion weld. Because there is less heat and no melting of the base metal, MIG brazing minimizes damage to heat-sensitive steels and helps preserve zinc coatings for corrosion protection. Vehicle maker engineers developed repair procedures and attachment methods taking this and other factors into consideration and should always be followed.

@@icartraining these cars are welded from the factory, seems like crap that they're mig brazed for a repair

    • @ypaulbrown
      @ypaulbrown 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@garagekeys they are resistance welded. not feasible for repair work.....the mig braze can actually be stronger than a fusion weld if done correctly. has to do with the amount of braze and closeness of the two parts being brazed. Surface tension is the key here.

hi guys i'm head manager car repear , i would like to improve tech with , mig brazing , my questions :
    - is it only with 100%argon ?
    - what rod available , heard about , silicon bronze , and cu si
    - is there any tabs materials , using rods , add on ,stainless and alu
    - is welder , mig synergic or not ?
'im looking for online mig as amazone ebay thanks to helps and advises models
best regards and thanks for this video

Hello Naoufel! We did our best to answer your questions:
      - is it only with 100%argon ?
      Yes.
      - what rod available , heard about , silicon bronze , and cu si -
There are different electrode wire blends, selection is dependent on OEM requirements.
      - is there any tabs materials , using rods , add on ,stainless and alu -
Most quality machines capable of synergic pulse will also be capable of aluminum and other electrode wires.
      - is welder , mig synergic or not ?
A synergic pulse capable welder is required, pulse or short circuit transfer method selectable, dependent on joint type.
      - im looking for online mig as amazon ebay thanks to helps and advises models best regards and thanks for this video.
We do not recommend specific equipment. Would suggest equipment sourced through a local body shop equipment supplier for local support, consumables , etc.
