Sean acts like Markus was oppressed by his owner, but Carl is probably the best owner we’ve seen. He was nice, he supported his individuality within safety, and actually seemed to care for him.
This is like saying "But this slavemaster was probably the best master we've seen. He was nice, didn't beat his slaves, and even taught them how to read." I get what you mean, but by owning a person without their consent in the way slaves and androids were, it's still oppression. Also, androids speak of their masters mainly as the human race as a whole because androids didn't have their rights due to human wrong-doings

I'm not saying that slavery is good or that the oppression the androids dealt with was fair, but considering Carl's condition I think he needed Markus. When we are first introduced to Markus he has to Help Carl with many things he may not have been able to do on his own without assistance.
I do think it's weird that humans would create something that resembles them, and is so advanced that they are able to have emotions but only use them for work that they could do on their own almost effortlessly, like chores, it seems like a waste. I would personally feel uncomfortable owning anything that resembled a human considering the connotations with slavery.

The androids sound and act a lot like all of the autistic people I’ve met. (I also have autism). They’re quiet most of the time (although the times they do talk they talk a LOT) and don’t really react to aggression. Not to mention the crazy details and advanced vocabulary, but extremely monotone voice. People with autism are often also bullied, abused, manipulated, and beat up because of their different behavior. In a way I think the androids are a great representation for the lesser known parts of autism.
I'm autistic too and I feel like a lot of people completely miss this parallel. The race allegory is very obvious, but I feel like this piece is very present as well and should have more recognition

And genius people can also tend to be on the spectrum so there’s also that paired with the androids being super intelligent. (It’s just more of a stretch)
