You gotta give it up for a guy that has been on the top for decades and has dabbled in various types of music, and mastered hard rock.. He was THE first real front man of hard rock! What a stud Robert Plant is!

Grew up in the heart of the Appalachians, next to classic rock, mountain music is closest to my heart. Gives you a certain feeling you can’t get anywhere else.

I was always under the impression that Robert Plant was just a self-serving rock god. How wonderful that I was proven wrong. He's a very talented and extremely nice person. He's very intelligent and extremely talented!

He is a shag bandit, a man whore. He'll tell you he's in love with you, then leave in the middle of the night. He is a lech.

I am one of the luckiest guys to have see Led Zeppelin 4 time in my life. I have seen every concert Robert has done pretty much. As a person he is someone I admire. Genuine and a great human being. Love you Robert. I'm 70

Man oh man...My respect for this man deepens with every clip I watch. I've spent many hours in a TH-cam vortex, watching clips about him, fascinated every time. It takes guts to break the mold of the whole "cock rock" thing (which, btw...was brilliant), and then go explore the musical unknown, bold and unafraid every time. So much raw musical curiosity inside of him. So much integrity. So much artistry. I'm completely inspired by him.

What an incredibly eloquent man Plant has matured into in his old age. There's a reason they framed this documentary around "his own words" and that is because he gives such a powerfully illuminating oral history of the amazing era he was a part of as well as conveying the phases of his own reinvention. It's not some self aggrandizing biography. He's quite a humble observer of his life and is a man with a very deep soul.
There's many artists that I respect, but not so many I like. I like Plant

This was the video series I always wanted to see. When and if an artist is capable of intelligent conversation it opens up a portal of insight into the person he/she is. Robert Plant has always been one of my favorite singers. It's great to see he wants to reach beyond what he has already done and risk the legend status by laying it all on the line. Courage and self confidence is evident here. The love of music is what spurs Plant on. He may not hit the same notes but he still touches the soul.

I'd like to see Zeppelin as much as anyone but I understand why he doesn't want to do it. Because he's already done it several times over and his voice may not be up to it for a whole tour. He keeps trying to forge ahead and go to new places musically. I admire him for that.

Knebworth ( second weekend ) August 1979 unforgettable amazing time for my 16 year old self, last UK performance full original band, incredible experience. Also 2 years ago walking down the street in Salford UK literally bumped into Mr Plant, seemed familiar, friendly nod, said "good evening" to my wife & on his way , it took me a minute or so to realise who it was, seemed like a decent bloke who at the time was walking with the aid of a walking stick

What a genuine guy. Imagine, being a "rock god" as it were, the front man of the biggest band and yet still being a lover of music and all you can get. To us its Led Zeppelin first and anything else second, to him its music first. interesting. Great doco.

I watched all four parts. Great documentary and it really illustrates just how diverse and creative Plants talents are. Thankfully Jimmy heard him sing or who knows if he would have ever have had the platform to achieve so much. He must is a huge inspiration to so many singers and songwriters. Ultimately he should be an inspiration to everyone...do what you want and to hell with those who try to typecast you.

Like a good song, he leaves you wanting more. The intriguing pull of the enigma. Sharp contrast with today's hype and overexposure of "stars". Perhaps that's the ultimate showmanship. Like he said, the public's perception is a million miles from the real person.

Plant is as much a student as he is a teacher and that's what makes him so interesting. He never wants to stop learning and playing new music. Even admitting that Allison Kraus had to be patient with him because he wasn't used to singing with anyone else. I wonder how he felt about the collaboration between Page and David Coverdale and if he felt that was Page's way of replacing him, and Coverdale basically reincarnating himself to look similar to Robert?

I'm glad he discovered Southern music. We have a lot of musicians in the South. We're a very musical people. I think it comes from Scots, Irish and English immigrants merging, since most people like me can trace their roots to one of those three countries.
I hope he continues to stick around down here, and maybe giving others ideas on how to build on Southern music. I am using the term "southern music" to encompass the entire catalog from Blues to Country, to Bluegrass and Jazz.

As a 40 year Led Zeppelin fan, it occurs to me that Roberet doesn't really appreciate why people won't let him forget Led Zeppelin. Sure, it's that they were the band for the ages. But it's also that he lost his voice a long time ago. What he produces now is admirable, and filled with substance. But his voice has fallen off to an anemic whine. It's not that it's not Zeppelin; it's that he hasn't been able to really sing in at least 25 years.

If it wasn’t for Zep - RP would have been a complete unknown - same with JPJ and JB - only one who would have been world famous without Zep is Jimmy 🎸

    • @jerrysparks2308
      @jerrysparks2308 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Not so imo, Robert was already known by Tim Reid and others, JPJ was a well known London sessions man and arranger, John Bonham was already in a band. There is ample reason to believe they would thrive in music. Jimmy had a vision of where he wanted to take the blues, Rock n Roll, music in general. He created what turned out to be the greatest band in rock. I saw them in 1977 at the Myriad. Best show ever at the Myriad ( Prairie Surf Studios now). However, I saw many great bands and shows there like the Who, Jeff Beck (Civic Center Blow by Blow), Yes, Rush, Supertramp etc... They were humble, fun, powerful. Energy filled the Myriad. See my review of their 1977 Apr 03 show on Led Zeppelin's website. The title was Best Show Ever.
