    Marty Schwartz: greatest guitar teacher of a generation. m 19. When I was 13 my friends dad (guitarist) helped me get my first guitar. He told me I could teach myself on TH-cam. A few weeks later I came back to him and told him I had found a great teacher that broke down hella songs note by note. He said, "who, Marty Schwartz?" fuck yeah Marty Schwartz.

    Bob was actually the one with the rhythm part and Jerry would play those licks and dabble in the chord progression with Bobby. Long Live Jerry! Much love

    nice one marty. the dead alone are a great conversation topic for guitar players. interesting what song pulls people in and if there's a influence to play it. and the approach now people take to cover it is as fascinating at the sounds those guys were making. appreciate you taking the time to walk thru this.

I started learning guitar in September of 2018 and my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner... you’ve helped me a LOT (whenever I wanna learn a song I check to see if you have a tutorial first) and made a lot of stuff as easy as it can be, I feel. This was really great! Thanks! Request: How about showing the transition from Scarlet to Fire on the Mountain, along with that wonderful intro riff. It's in B-Mixolydian too, right? I saw Jerry drop into Eyes out of Scarlet Begonias at the Frost (1985?) I know there is a key change for Eyes' chorus, but are its verses in B-Mixolydian too?

    • @EclecticEssentric
      @EclecticEssentric 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. Fire is mostly just B+A (from the key of E just like Scarlet). So going from B mixo in Scarlet to Fire is all the same.
      2. The verses of Eyes is E key, I'm not sure on the scales he uses. The choruses are in G.
      There is an Emaj7/Bminor bit that's a bit odd before returning to versus. I'd be curious as to what's being played over that (or is it a typo in a songbook?).

    • @evanharris6697
      @evanharris6697 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EclecticEssentric I think they start in B mixolydian, the opening octave riff he's showing us is in B mixolydian. The notes are playing B E D# B, etc then rests on D# again.
      "I was walking round Grosvenor Square.." is B mixolydian. Then it changes to E mixolydian at "From the other direction". And back to B mixolydian at "might as well try". They like to emphasize the D# to D change in the solos
