  • As an Office Supply Junky, it’s important to support your local stationery supply shop, especially in this challenging time. Joe recently made an online order from Albuquerque’s own Pen & Pad, and was able to get the order delivered to his home. Let’s see what’s in the bag!

I'm quite new to fountain pens, got my first pen last year, Lamy Logo (and never going back to regular pens!).
For some reason my favourite color for handwriting (so far) is green, so the ink I'm using is Waterman's Harmonious Green Ink.
But it's always good and interesting to see different colors and pens! :)

I should really get some Iroshizuku ink to try out. I mostly stick with Quink, Waterman and Diamine inks since 90% of my fountain pens are all vintage, but I would love to try out some of the more vibrant colors in my converter/piston fill pens. Hope you all are staying safe out there, and what better to do when you are stuck at home than to write with your typewriters/pens!

Haven't used a fountain pen and Quink ink since primary school back in the 1960s, when my handwriting was nicely legible. These days my favorite writing pen is Uni Power Tank with 1.0 mm nib (or point). I like the pressurized ink pens because they flow very easily, don't leak and don't run dry until the last drop of ink. The 1.0 point suits my writing style. Anything smaller than 1.0 makes my writing turn into a scratchy scrawl.
One thing I recall about fountain pens -- other than getting ink everywhere -- is that it took a while for the nibs to wear on one side to suit the way I held the pen.

I haven't made any ink yet, but it sounds like another fun hobby. Thanks for the tip.

If you ever get a chance, Tomoe River paper is the best fountain paper you can get :)

It's been awhile since I've used Quink in my fountain pens but I always remember the wonderful aroma of that ink. I'm thinking it's a subtle solvent to keep the pen from clogging?

Why are so many nifty Pilot items difficult to obtain domestically? For example, I can't buy most of the company's FriXion color pens and refills here. Fortunately, JetPens has a wide selection. I buy the FriXion refill in a 1.0mm diameter point, which I've never seen at a regular office supply retailer.

Joe normally works as an intern for CAMERADACTYL Cameras, 1 day per week on Tuesdays. We pay him in spam, eggs, and coffee. He has unfortunately been furloughed, and we hope to have him back soon.

@@CAMERADACTYLCameras Spam, eggs and coffee? I hope you blend that well else it would be really lumpy -- we don't want anyone choking after all. Health & safety etc. etc. ;o)
