    *ERROR FIX HERE!!* Actually you should have 4k stitches in your foundation chain, not 5k. For example 270 doesn’t work but if you make 268 it will be fine because it is 4x67. This means you will have 67 holes. Happy crocheting!

    Hi guys! I love this pattern and it works well as is but for those of you looking for symmetry I just have a really quick adjustment I made to make it even. Chain 270 plus 1 chain for starting row and once you hit row 5 chain 2 and go into the 3rd stitch from the hook. After this, continue chaining 3 and going into the 4th chain until the end where you do another chain 2 and work into the 3rd chain to finish thay row. Continue row 6 making sure you maintain the stitch count. Make sure you have 3 single crochets on each end of the scarf in those chain 2 spaces.

      You can also chain any number of chains that's are divisible by 4 plus 1 for starting chain if you want to alter it that way 😇

    This is so beautiful. I'm doing this one tomorrow 🌸 thank you for the clear step by step tutorial. I taught myself to crochet 2 years ago from TH-cam since no one had time to teach me. I'm totally addicted to it. ❤️ Also caring for my mom who has alzheimers and dementia. She loves her scarves and this one is perfect for the new yarn I bought today 💗 God bless you. 🌷

    I want to Thank You so much for creating this beautiful pattern. I’m making scarves for my 3 sons, and my husband for Christmas 2018. I’ve searched the web endlessly. I made my first Gentleman Scarf, and thought I would make everyone a different style scarf. Well I started to, but none compared to the beauty of this pattern. All the men in my family will be receiving a gentleman’s scarf for Christmas in various different colors. I’ve subscribed to your TH-cam page and look forward to any new creations that you develop.

    I made this scarf for my husband and he loves it, as do I . I also adapted the method of doing the long rows for my scarfs and iv completed more projects then doing the say 20 and going back and forth. Yes it's a long row but omg it's such a awesome way and I can add different rows as you do in this scarf and I just love it.

This pattern was really fun and it was just enough of a challenge to make and I’m so grateful I chose it!! The video explanation showing each row helped a lot. For this pattern I used Lion Brand "Touch of Alpaca" in charcoal gray. It took exactly 3 skeins. For the ends of the scarf I did rows 1-3, and 5-6. It finished off the ends quite nicely.

    A beautiful design - you sound so young... and I'm saying this because you have gorgeous hands. I'm very sorry you suffer from Crohns... Even when I was a kid my hands never looked young... the Irish curse I guess. Thank you so much for this scarf.

      Talana are you making a scarf with a foundation of 270 or did you adjust the length to a number evenly divisible by 4?

  • @cedarbuilt1
    @cedarbuilt1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks. I used a number 3 yarn and number 5 crochet hook. 221 stitches got it to 72 inches- 6 feet so that is plenty long . it looks great- because of the weight of the yarn I added a bubble stitch with two two cables in the very center-- I would not have imagined crocheting this length wise-. it's lovely. did it in a few days.

    Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! I was looking for a crochet pattern/stitch that would suit a guy and I definitely think yours is the best one I've come across! I made it in a wine red colour for a guyfriend and he loved it! It was really fun and addictive to make (once you begin, you want to keep on going for another row... and another row... and another ;) ), and you explain all the steps so well and describe things so clearly in the video that it was surprisingly easy to make while following you along the way. Again, thank you so much, my friend seemed to love it and was pretty impressed :)

  • @itsallaboutlight
    @itsallaboutlight 8 ปีที่แล้ว +38

    I think the reason you came up 2 stitches short on row 5 is that you need 272 sc to make the 68 repeat of *ch3, sk 3, sc*. That's 4 stitches. 68X4=272. I'm not sure, but my edge in my first set of the repeated pattern was short. When you added the 2ch in the video at the end of row 5, even though it didn't match row 4, it increased it to the correct number so that from then on it was the correct amount if stitches. At least that's what I came up with. I ripped mine out and I'm starting over. I really love this pattern but I want my edges to be even. I'm giving it as a gift. Thank you for the design. It's a really pretty design.

    • @CostaWanti
      @CostaWanti 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vanessa Kennedy I was thinking the same thing. If you start with a multiple of 4+1 it should work with the loops but then the crisscross stitches will be messed up😕

    • @itsallaboutlight
      @itsallaboutlight 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh! I'm still learning. I didn't think that far ahead. Lol. I did make the scarf and I love the pattern. I just adjusted it a bit, but now I can't remember how. Thanks for the pattern!

    • @ThatClassic70sGirl
      @ThatClassic70sGirl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe you just did a single crochet at one of the ends, to even it up? The *ch3, sk 3, sc* part is fairly easy to adjust. I think it'd be more important to make sure that the pattern line up with the previous rows in the middle, all the way down the line, rather than on the ends; as it is there where it would be most noticeable.

    • @itsallaboutlight
      @itsallaboutlight 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks ThatClassic70sGirl . I got it back out and looked but still not sure what I did. I'm going to add fringe on the ends to make it have more of a finished look.

    Actual tutorial starts at 3:29!! Red Heart Súper Saver yarn is very scratchy! I made a scarf made with that yarn and is too uncomfortable around my neck. There are other Red Heart yarn that are softer.

    This is awesome! Your video is easy to follow and you are a real pleasure to listen to as well. I am making this for a couple of people on my Christmas list this year, as I know that they will use them in the harsh New England weather. Pictures to follow. Thank you!
