West African crocodile (Crocodylus suchus) - Mauritania

Several West African crocodiles (Crocodylus suchus) in a guelta (mountain rockpool). One captures a catfish (at 00:15 seconds); they tend to come outside water to bask during the morning (at 00:33 seconds), but escape into water if someone approaches too close (after 00:45 seconds)

BIODESERTS is a research group hosted by CIBIO/University of Porto. It is focused on assessing biodiversity patterns in deserts and arid regions. The objectives are to: i) advance scientific knowledge on desert environments; ii) produce outputs of high scientific standard and guidelines for conservation policies; iii) training of human resources in desert evolution and conservation biology; and iv) communicate scientific activities and improve public appreciation on desert biodiversity.
