The foil helps stop the steam from escaping into the air, it turns into condensation which rehydrates the rice without you needing to add more water. For this method to work it would have to be cooked on medium to low heat.
honestly using paper towel shown in the video, also works. i use paper towels just like how it was done in the video to steam my rice. this prevent the need to add more water or oil. yes, some steam will escape even if there is a pot lid ontop. but i still get perfectly cooked rice every time.
Hi jayan, a tip for the jellof... Next time just soak the rice in hot water for 10 to 15mins, wash nd add to ur jellof base (the hot water will soften the rice a bit)
Next time addsome cinnamon & nutmeg to the oats🤤🤤🤤yum. Fill water to about 1/2 inch above rice. Cover let it come to a boil then turn down to low & keep covered & check periodically if cooked. The plastic & foil are not good to use either. Maybe parchment paper, but the lid works just as well.
Putting hot food in plastic containers, and using plastic spoons to stir your pot.....Foil paper? All toxic materials and very bad for your health, hopefully she will see the comments and try to do something about it. 🤞🏽
@@gutchiespencer2714yes,I came here to comment this, from the hot water poured into the Milo container to the nylon bag,all are harm to human consumption,i don't know the last White thing she used to cover it, please avoid hot food or hot drink with plastic.
Jayan, 5:30am is too early for you to wake from your beauty sleep. Do you ever add dried fruit to your oatmeal? You picked out a very nice TV stand and you did your best with that Milo brick. Everything that you cook looks so appetizing and I wish that I could smell it. Usually, the liquid to rice ratio should be 2:1 for optimal success and sometimes it helps to poke holes to the bottom of the pot with an upside-down wooden spatula for better condensation, but not too high the heat. Either way, I would be more than happy to eat anything that you would put in front of me 😊. Praise Jesus!
Lol it’s not too early when I’m chasing something. I do add dry fruits sometimes tho I haven’t bought in a while now. I will just go back to my traditional way of cooking rice, less stress.
Lovely video as usual. I remember buying a brand new MiBox only for it to stop working after two weeks. Bought a Chromecast and that thing is still working after 5years. Tip for the jollof, stir the rice in the sauce till absorbed and add hot water if still hard and then stir till that is absorbed. Cover with foil and let the steam do the rest. Love from Ghana
Cook your Jollof on a very low heat, cover with foil To trap in the steam.that way, there wouldn’t be any need for you to add water. Jollof basically needs the steam to cook.weldon!
18:35 you should reduce the heat while cooking That way it cooks slowly and you don’t have to keep adding water into it I enjoyed watching your vlog btw❤
Hi Jayan, as always you have amazing content. It is the kind of content that is peaceful, enjoyable, simple, and realistic daily life. Youve also inspired me to cook more stews in America so thank you for the inspiration quee! ❤
I just discovered you the other day and now I am addiccted to your vlogs. You remind me of the life I never lived. I badly wanted to live in my own place but got married and with kids now. It looks like that is now impossible😆. Anyway, I love your slow videos and your food usually delicious. I once tried to cook West African food to my family as we had just moved from Kenya to the Netherlands, and couldn't find Kenyan food. It seriously back fired🤣
Good morning, Jayan. I am watching you from California, USA. I would like to know why you have your mattress on the floor and not on a bed frame? I have also notice that many households do not use boxsprings to support their mattresss. I look forward to watching your videos. Have a blessed day.❤🙏
You should try and find some snacks you can keep stored so you have something quick to eat when you don't feel like cooking, that honestly how I eat most of the time 😂
I hope I don't sound obnoxious saying this (it's only bc I care) but isn't it super risky reheating the same pieces of chicken so many times??
