    I like these things, I just bought a brushless one, I just hate how they slap the ground after even small jumps

      did you try adjusting the preload? I just bought a XL2.5 model and with some extra rear preload its been pretty good for me

    Are you running the 2.2 proline trenchers? I’ve got those for my mervs and I love the way it jumps with them!

      Yeah, they're my go to. I have them on my 1/16 E-Revo, Stampede, and MAXX. They're hard to beat.

    I just bought this vehicle this week. Best car I’ve owned yet. I’ve gotta find a place like this.

      Go to google and search for "pump tracks" is what I think they're called or "bike trails".

      It’s a pain to work on but it’s always my go to for the jumps. The amount of fun you get per dollar is hard to beat. Make sure you get steel pillow balls to replace the stock plastic ones.

    Looks like fun! How's it do in grass? Is the ground clearance too low for you to take it to a grassy park or the back yard?

    • @mickeysrc
      @mickeysrc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a blast. I'm a "classic dad", if you will, when it comes to grass. So I'll elaborate. Thick fescue or a tall Bermuda it won't like it at all. It's too small for that. Short nappy grass or thin grass surrounded by hard dirt will be best. If you have some momentum it'll make it over taller grass but if you stop you'll be dead in the water so to speak, haha.

      @@mickeysrc thanks for the reply, definitely getting a sub from me!
      In Texas, I have saint augustine grass which is usually also at classic dad length :P it's enough to seriously slow down my VXL bandit, but it's only 2WD. Definitely eyeing the 1/16 E-Revo VXL as a yard/sidewalk basher

    • @mickeysrc
      @mickeysrc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ammondude Thanks! So, not so much the 2wd bandit but the 1/16 revo performs almost as well as a 2wd stampede or rustler in the same type of grass. Almost.

    I have a 1/16 traxxas slash and was wondering what upgrades are good for it. when i had bought mine it was a xl5 and not a vxl. would you recommend I upgrade to a brushless or stay brushed. And if i were to upgrade to vxl what gearing and lipo battery do you think is best.

    • @mickeysrc
      @mickeysrc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unpopular opinion but sometimes I wish I had brushed. I don't care for top end speed of brushless and LOVE the low end control you get with a brushed motor. At the end of the day it just depends on what it is exactly you enjoy doing with your truck.
      As far as gearing I'm probably the worst person to ask because I prefer to always gear down. Not sure what the 1/16 slash comes with but the e-revo comes with an optional 23t pinion. That paired with a venom 2000mah 20c battery on stock talon tires does pretty well. On smaller slash wheels/tires it would do even better I think.
      You'd have to give me more specifics on what your goal is with your truck.

      If you go brushless, the diffs will break. So will the axles. However, to keep the diffs from stripping, replace the bearings on the end of the pinion gear every now and then, or make sure they spin freely. Also, shim the diffs, especially the rear. Two team associated shims should work great. Many people forget about this, but also adjust the slipper clutch. The stock setting might not be good enough. I have a 2wd ecx amp, and did the tighten it all the way down and go back 1/4 turn trick. It would wheelie like crazy, but the motor got warmer than It was before. I loosened it a hair, and now the motor is cooler and it still goes just as fast. Adjusting the slipper clutch is very important if you want to save the drive train. So if you are ready/ able to do those tricks, I would highly recommend the vxl setup.

      @@shader7248 Not true. I have been bashing my 1/16 e revo for three years now and only recently did I strip my first ever diff (the front). Never broke an axle. I only drive 2s though.

      3s is when u start messing up the diffs. I know bkus I stripped mine and I only run on 3s smh

    Quick question are these e revos any durable ? Especially the vxl I’m reading a lot about them and ppl saying they break fast

    • @mickeysrc
      @mickeysrc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a really tough question. It's 50/50. If you replace what you break with higher end/more durable parts you'll make the truck better and become more fond of it. Of all the Traxxas stuff I've had it's definitely one of my favorites. It always puts a smile on my face. I prefer 1/10 and smaller so I'm partial to smaller trucks. Just make sure, right out of the gate, that you get the steel pillow balls.

      @@daviddelgado5275 you picked the wrong person to ask that question, haha. I absolutely love the Stampede 2WD VXL. Less moving parts, easier to work on it, it's light so it does well at the jumps, doesn't flip as easily as the 1/16 revo, and the list goes on. Grab some RPM carriers for the front and rear and a better servo and it's hard to beat.

    • @mickeysrc
      @mickeysrc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      These 1/16 shocks are something else. Just rebuilt with 80wt all around. GTR shocks are en route. Hopefully they hold shock oil better than the stock turds that are on there now.

    • @mickeysrc

      I like to jump the jump and land perfectly on the landing. I find that more fun, since it's a bit more difficult, then just hitting the throttle and sending it to the moon. Definitely not more entertaining for the viewer though haha.
