    I think I will try this soon! Thanks for the video!
    Tip: If you open the blind at least half way before disconnecting the battery, you can remove the fabric from the metal at the top to avoid getting metal bits and damaging the fabric, it will just slide out to either side once the battery box and end cover are removed.
    I have not trimmed a blind yet but I did this to repair a blind that the axle had become disconnected from the motor.

      Thx for the input :-), did you take any picture when you did the repair?

      Same here: "opening" the blind maybe 50 to 75 cm creates slack in the strings so you can slide the fabric out of the opposite side (take both covers off the top). Same for the metal bar at the bottom of the fabric: remove one end cap, slide off the bar. That allowed me to make a nice cut in the metal with a hack saw. The Dremel was not helpful for me, either. I used scissors to cut the fabric: much more difficult to get it even. Henning's knife technique looks perfect: I will use a knife next time.

    To cut the the blinds I took a strap around and secured used all the parts tightly together. With trim/chop saw and blade for metal it cuts through everything like butter.

    I cut mine 4.5cm with these instructions. I did it as described. Thanks!

      Can you please share some pictures of sliding out, thanks

    Thanks! I removed 4.6 cm on the head unit and 5 cm on the bottom and the blinds fabric (Tredansen). Make sure not to remove a tad too little of the fabric, as it seems impossible to cut off thin shavings. I used the advice below to open the blinds 75cm before starting, so the fabric can slide away from the cutting of top and bottom (end pieces removed) 👍

      That's the information I was looking for. Thank you so much. I am off to Ikea now.

    If you extend the blind you can easily slide it out for cutting :)

    Appreciate your video on this, I've been trying to find someone who has actually reduced the height of these curtains I'm looking to cover windows who are only just over 70 cm tall, do you think that is something that is possible to do to these curtains so it looks proper?

      I guess so, it looks like it can be done, if you open in the button and shortend the strings. But do you think it looks that bad without shortend the length of the blinds, its only about 2,5 cm of unused blinds at 70 cm.

    I'm going to attempt this, thanks for showing it is possible. How did you cut the fabric and what tool did you use? I haven't done this on a smart blinds before but when I did it on a cheaper non-smart blinds, I destroyed the fabric and I wasn't sure what I did wrong. Thanks!

    Thanks for your video. One of the first so far on the internet. I only need to trip about 3cm. Why was it not possible to trip the non-battery side?

    • @henninghorslevhansen
      @henninghorslevhansen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it would be much easier if we could cut in the non-battery side, but there is some internal plastic in that end, I dont think it is possible to remove, but it would be very nice if you could prove me wrong 🙂

    Hi henninghorslevhansen :) thanks for sharing this video. We will give an attempt this week to do it. I was wondering if you can post any videos of de-assembling and assembling the blinds?

    I only need to trim 2 cm to fit. Seems like it will be easier to trim this 2 cm from the non-battery side but it does not appear to be possible to put the end cap back in if 2 cm is trimmed from the housing. Would you have gone for the non-battery side if you only needed to trim 2 cm? Thanks!

    • @henninghorslevhansen
      @henninghorslevhansen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I would have gone with the non-battery side if possible, it would have been much easier to cut without risk of damage the blinds. Regarding the end cap, I would try to glued them on.

    How thick/what is the depth of the blind header? Trying to work out if I have the appropriate recess in my windows. Thanks

    I need to remove 5cm from the blind , would this require removing the piece of plastic or would it clear the axle without removal?
    Also, how did you protect the cable from possible damage while cutting?

    • @henninghorslevhansen
      @henninghorslevhansen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I´m not sure, but I guess that you don't have to cut in the plastic, but it's close :-)
      To protect the cable, I fixed the cable with duct tape, so I had control over where it was, when I used the saw.

    One more question, sorry: How do you remove the end caps if they're glued in? Is it just a matter of pushing them out from the side/ top?

    • @henninghorslevhansen
      @henninghorslevhansen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't remember for sure, but try with a knife, after what I can remember is not glued that much

    • @robaberg5582

      On my blinds, the upper (large) pair can be clicked out - no glue. The small end caps on the lower bar have a blob of double-sided sticky tape or similar adhesive, so it was a matter of slowly and carefully prying with a wide + thin screwdriver blade to expose the edge, then I could get a fingernail under it and keep pulling. Maybe warming it up first would help - the room temperature was about 15 C where I did the work.

    I ended up cutting 3 of these by 1” by cutting off 1” off the top rail at the battery end and 1” off the bottom rail on the opposite end. I also used a sharp knife to slice through the fabric once it was off the rails.
    One thing I noticed on all three but cant fix: when the blind draws all the way up to the top rail, the blind/fabric always shifts a bit (maybe 0.5”) to the left (toward the battery side). No idea why - does anyone have any ideas?

      I have 4 blinds, its only one of them, that shift a bit (3mm) to the left and I have no idea why.
