I don't think that's what he's doing. He's pointing out the irony that many in the arts scene are all talk and no walk. He's saying "just call this what it is", referring to the egos of many artists/environmentalists/celebrities blinding them to their hypocrisy.
I think I hear "the jealous side of mankind's death wish." In my interpretation, he conveys the sentiments of a business/oil magnate, oligarch, or an ordinary person saying to the whole earth "If I have to die, all of you do too."
You mean dinosaur bones? “How it won’t be very long that they laugh at us for selling, a bunch of 15 years olds made from dinosaur bones singing “oh yeah”...”

Daniel Knuth i agree that's exactly what he's doing but i stand by comment. brilliant song.
Lyric genius says it’s “gentler side of mankind’s death wish” but I hear “jealous eye”

Jeff I like that interpretation a lot
@@arrowmid Interesting. I took it to be about the inherent selfishness of pursuing a career in the arts.

He's saying it takes a lot of oil to make a painting with latex and acrylic because both are made from polymers which come from oil.
TheAnthraxBiology yes, plant based oils. The criminal part about painting is the mines for pigments, and improper disposal of solvents and paints.
This is unironically the kind of critique I appreciate the most. I'm sure you know way more about painting than FJM. Keep it up.
Acrylic paints contain silicone oils, which are synthetic.
@@vivlally8565 not all oils are equal
