Oh damn, you've got the B-7971 and an EL display. Frantastic! Then make it display KAINKALABS :) Cool tester. I wonder if it needs capacitive/resistive coupling theough the neon tube to work.
The VFDs, especially those nicer Magic Eyes, are meant to be hard-sealed in their vacuum, so they do their magic, basically a tiny CRT. You don't want to see any glows, because it indicates leak in those tubes somewhere you may not be able to see it, as they won't work anymore at that point. And you really have some very nice nixie tubes. I'd love to have some Magic Eye tubes eventually as well.
No, I only told that high frequency is one of the secrets. But how does the current flow from the tester to the device-under-test and back into the tester?
Dekatrons are so very cool. The WITCH computer at Bletchley Park uses these.
Almost as fascinating as the Colossus!
That was great, thanks for showing the test.
Photonic Induction had one of these things to demonstrate his huge lamp collection.

Yeah. It´s all about capacitive coupling, Explained in the videos that are linked to in the video description

VFD and Magic-Eye tubes are something different (althoug both vacuum tubes in triode mode)
... but _how_ does it work?
nvm: th-cam.com/video/xwCzqg3geIY/w-d-xo.html BigClive to the rescue :)
Take a look at the videos that I inkek to in the video description :-)
@@KainkaLabs No videos from you for a while - everything okay, i hope :)
Skin effect
No :-)
"One of the things I leave to you to find out by yourself."
WTF? How about not be a jerk and give a summary in three sentences how the device works?
