I love this video! My favorite is definitely the Crystal Skull cemetery. I personally love the detail and feeling that it never ends. Also seeing Nancy’s shadow with her footsteps as she walks along the cobblestone is peak vibes for me.
I love the feeling of it never ending and being so huge too. An ordinary cemetery is a good memento mori but such a big one, showing how everyone in history before you went here, makes the realization of mortality hit you like a train.
"My appologies to the best mule what ever lived" had me laughing lol MID narrowly missing the last place lol You made a comment about the historical characters that made me realize (yet again) just HOW EDUCATIONAL this game could have beeeennnn ugh :(
I literally needed my mom with me before I went into the Malone Cemetery, an amazing feat of setting and tone for it to be so unnerving in broad daylight with birds chirping!
The spooky video we deserved 👻And it truly is terrifying... MID didn't rank dead last 😱😱😱 My favorite would have to be GTH. There is so much atmosphere, I love Harper's creepy "crypt keeper" vent moment, and it's a cool way to learn more about the family dynamics. The coffin puzzles are a little weird for me, but I do like that the coffins themselves are part of a challenge to find a hidden clue. It would've been too easy to avoid interacting with them in a children's game with an already high scare factor score.
Great video! Personally I would have switched MID and TRN. I know MID rarely gets much love (and for a lot of good reasons) but the cemetery is one of the aspects they did quite well. It has multiple hauntings, access to the tunnels, ghostly activity that Joe and Frank (and Nancy too) can explore. We see so little of the crypt in TRN, there is a lot of potential there that goes to waste. Your Top 3 is spot on though! So much atmosphere in all of them.
Well, Dia de Muertos is still going, so, you know, you're fine. XD Great video!! I like all the games the cemeteries are in ... except MID, that, that might be one of the few good things about it, lol. But my top ones would definitely be Crystal Skull and Thornton Hall, just with Crystal Skull in first simply because of the name puzzle. I always enjoyed that one. XD
I did think about Nefertari, but I figured a tomb was too different from a cemetery! Camille's crypt is at least in a cemetery! I do love Nefertari's tomb though!
Awesome idea for a Nancy Drew analysis video!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I totally agree with all of your choices and ranks for the cemeteries in these six games! 😁😄👍🏻 The one in Dry Creek in The Secret of Shadow Ranch is dull because you can't explore it and has no vitality to the game's plot. Still, it gives you vibes of creepiness because of the town already does. The cemetery in Midnight in Salem deserves a higher ranking than that of Shadow Ranch because you have some marked graves and several of them are pivotal to puzzles, like clicking on four of them for part of the witch tour and accessing the underground tunnels with the Little Liberty statue. And then Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon shows an individual crypt rather than a true cemetery, but it ranks higher because of the goods and puzzles it contains to keep the game going. 😉 Now despite the appearance of the dogs at the beginning, I don't think Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is a scary game at all, and I love to explore the woods behind the house. And I'm not at all afraid of being in the cemetery or exploring the tombstones of deceased pets buried there. Given how much it has to explore and it is useful for several puzzles, I definitely agree with your ranking of it on this list. However, I'm in deep doubt that Malone and his dogs are actually buried there, particularly the dogs since they didn't actually die on the same listed "death date". Yes, given how much detail there is with this cemetery and how far it expands, Legend of the Crystal Skull is definitely one of the best in the series! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I especially LOVE the puzzle of looking for all the deceased people because they have great puns for names...but there is only cemetery that tops it. And as for the top best cemetery? BEST choice by far! 👏🏻👍🏻 Ghost of Thornton Hall is one of the scariest Nancy Drew games, and you listed all the reasons that make it creepier than all other cemeteries listed, including all the hauntings that occur in this cemetery that help enhance the scares! 😨😰😱 As morbid as some cemeteries might be, I LOVE exploring the one in Ghost of Thornton Hall because it provides answers to several puzzles and you can learn about many of the deceased Thorntons that are buried there. The inscription of Charlotte's tombstone is the saddest of all. 😔😢
It's interesting seeing the game problems that bother people vs. the ones that don't. For instance, Message in a Haunted Mansion. It absolutely drives people crazy that the endgame letter didn't say what happened to Charlie, even though we all know he lived happily ever after, just like pretty much every other non-culprit. It's almost impossible to get into a discussion about that game without that issue coming up. On the other hand, there are games with big problems that don't seem to matter at all. In Thornton Hall, pretty much everyone is aware that CO poisoning doesn't produce visual hallucinations, but it doesn't bother people too much. It appreciably affected my enjoyment of the game because even when I was SEEING the ghost, I wasn't scared, I was just thinking "Yyawn, how are they going to explain this away in the end?" Another big problem for me (which virtually nobody mentions at all) is Graverobber Nancy, who puts Juvenile Delinquent Nancy from Secrets Can Kill to shame. (Also, in GTH, it's just too dark to read anything, at least on my computer). Long story short, I'd have put Crystal Skull in the top spot here... Although, come to think of it, Crystal Skull doesn't give us closure on Henry's girlfriend in the endgame letter, so it's just as bad as Haunted Mansion.
As you might imagine, I'd rank GTH cememtary much lower as I don't think it succeeds in atmosphere and creepiness. I think my order would be Shadow Ranch, GTH, MID, Crystal Skull, Train, Ghost Dogs (going from worst to best).
I love this video! My favorite is definitely the Crystal Skull cemetery. I personally love the detail and feeling that it never ends. Also seeing Nancy’s shadow with her footsteps as she walks along the cobblestone is peak vibes for me.
Ooh yes!! The shadow is such a brilliant detail!

That's one of my greatest laments about it too!! We could have learned so much, but it's so lacking!
I literally needed my mom with me before I went into the Malone Cemetery, an amazing feat of setting and tone for it to be so unnerving in broad daylight with birds chirping!
LOL, yes!! I made my mom come down the first time I had to go into the forest! 😂
I totally agree with your conclusions here. It’s too bad Castle Malloy didn’t have a cemetery. It could have been a good one!
Oh agreed! That could've been so spooky!
Love this one! got shivers up my back just watching. you could do scariest jumpscares in the ND games (Ahem…Ethel, Izzy, Phantom of Venice)
I totally just added an idea to my list about ranking the best scary moments! Thanks for the suggestion!

All such great points in favor of GTH!! I also was shocked that MID avoided last place 😅
This is exactly the kind of content I've been craving. Keep up the great work :)! Hope your channel gets huge!
Aww thank you so much!!

Totally fair points! My hatred for MID reigned supreme as I ranked 😅
With #6, having lived in Arizona as a kid, Ghost Towns were huge and this game definitely delivered on the vibe of ghost towns and living in Arizona.

Ooh good point!! The name puzzle is so fun!
Hmm, I do think that if we're going to count Camille's crypt, we should definitely be adding Nefertari's tomb to this list.

Crystal Skull scared me as a kid! I had to play during the daytime only lol
It is so spooky!!

Fair point! The CRY cemetery is definitely well done!

I would definitely support DOG in the top spot, it's just so spooky!
if rating the cemeteries by how good their puzzles are 🤔i think the list would stay the same
Ooh I like that twist on the ranking!
Gonna listen to this while I finish submitting my ND cosplay contest entries 🪦
Ooh perfect!! Enjoy!
