      Muddybagclean well I got it this past November so I guess the 2019? I didn’t know there is a 2019 and 2020 version. What’s the difference?

      Muddybagclean While I prefer to sit and play, I put some adhesive weights inside to balance it. That helped considerably for standing and playing. But the way it sounds supersedes neck dive any day. This made learning the guitar for me so much fun. Still learning tho😂

    I just traded for one straight up for my strat pro 2..
    After I cleaned it up, since dude was kinda dirty I guess, nasty.. now it shines, its beautiful... the pickups are pat pending.. the splits don't really make too much difference though.. the neck is kinda muddy even with the split, perhaps capacitor..

    I heard that the neck profile is iffy for some around the 12th fret.
    That smell, might be the case glue. I ordered some similar fragrance ( natural ), to add to my case. I have not received it yet, but I miss that smell.

    So many problems with the sg hp (quite the same)
    the stock action was high
    the tuning was not good to last
    the pickups were with too many trebles and so not so like the great 490 e 498t or sh1 sh4
    what else ? Next ! Or change the pickups and add a good setting
    the options were fantastic but not the price :)

      @@Mazmacfly It means the neck is heavier than the body and if you don’t hold it, or use a strap that helps prevent it (suede or leather ones work well) the neck will dip down with the headstock pointing to the floor.

    So... blue or black?

  • @phenixreturns
    @phenixreturns ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Review of the sg hp
    the tuners are not so great : you lose the tuning a lot of times
    the pickups sound bright = great for clean tones, tele, jazz, funk, soul music, disco etc.
    the alnico V for a neck pickup is not so great but the worst is the low output of the bright pickup
    so hard rock, heavy metal, rock can be just a limit for this pickup which need more like a 498t- sh4
    the bends are hard to play in the last frets vs a Charvel hh, a strat so strange
    the action was high (stock) but it was good to sound good
    so a not so perfect guitar but the design and clean tones are great
    the tuning do not last a lot of times (bad tuners ??)
    the sound needs more raw power
    the dip switch is great (many options like coil tap, split and more )
    so change the pickups and have a good setting (luthier first)

    I'm thinking of getting this guitar in the future, however no offence I keep hearing about Gibson's terrible quality control, and how their headstock can easily snap in half with little to no pressure. It scares me to drop almost $3000 and worry about this. Does this model have the velout?

    • @jorgelopez00

      @pablo9364 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    • @raywcksn
      @raywcksn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pablo9364 you might not like it but gibson qc’s problem is a reality. Well, my model doesn’t go as far as neck snapping in half but it does have a problem. Firstly it goes out of tune easy like a couple bends easy, secondly the fretboard full of tooling marks it ridiculous for guitar at that price (even my cheap pacifica is pristine). The guitar literally traumatized me for dropping that much of money for any gibson. I love Lp’s but i just can’t trust gibson anymore.
      I have my eye on this SG model for a while but it’s hard to pull the trigger, i need the guitar on my own hand and look at it with my eye before actually dropping my money on the table.

    • @raywcksn
      @raywcksn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Philminator based on my experience it’s quite bad. If you still want gibson my advice is go to your local guitar shops and try the guitar with your own hand look closely for any tooling marks, inspect the neck closely, and try the standard tuner with a lot of bending before actually pull the trigger. The qc’s problem is real but does not mean all gibson is trash. You just gotta go out of your way to actually find the good one. Good luck

      @@raywcksn I know it’s a lot of money buying a Gibson so it has to be perfect. I bought a 2020 Gibson Sg standard heritage 3 weeks ago on internet I literally cannot find any fault whatsoever with it. It’s beautiful very pleased with it. I even got the newer epiphone SG as well last year which is a good guitar . I can understand that if spending this amount of money you want it to be perfect I’m pretty much the same.
