Valentina, I have never had blinds. They are so non-decorative. Curtains and drapes just dresses up a room. We just started to use the smart lighting. Having an app to turn lights on before entering a room is so convenient. Thank you for your amazing ideas.

Growing up, we never had a TV in the bedrooms. We had 1 TV in the family room only. As a parent, I have done the same. Although, at 16, my son was allowed a monitor for his console and my daughters were allowed a small tv/dvd player during reception and lower primary years for learning hour and pre- bedtime at weekends. They are now all young adults and only 1 of them has a TV in their bedroom (because their partner likes it). I like my bedroom to be a place of rest (and ❤), only. 😊

@@HouseofValentinaI think all your things in your bedroom rock, though I liked the darker colour you had before, it was cosier.
I’m really more of a maximalist than a minimalist, but I do like carefully curated items, beautiful ornaments and LOTS of plants in my rooms. Like you!!
It’s nice to relax in and admire the special things you have, rather than just glare at empty walls - nothing is more soulless. I actually think your bedroom aesthetic is top notch.👌🏻

In another video about items that are aging your home you mentioned removing the blinds. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU!!! Within a week I removed all our blinds and installed gorgeous curtains. It transformed my home immediately. It’s my most favorite and most impactful change I can remember making. I live in Santa Monica, CA and we have the most gorgeous view of palm trees and the distant high rise buildings that are stunning lit up at night. We forgot about the stunning view hiding behind our blinds. Now I feel like I live in a posh hotel suite. Once again, I can’t thank you enough.

oh my gosh, I’m in TOTAL agreement with you on the blinds. It just takes away from the view and natural sunlight. Clients always want to do shutters and it just limits the functionality of the window. Beautifully hung draped just close and open ALL the way as needed.

I dont love blinds either. However, we rent, so I just keep my blinds always pulled to the side (they're the curtain blinds) and I've hung some pretty curtains that black out light when I need them to and I drape open during the day. Definitely think it makes my rooms feel just a little more upgraded.

Valentina,…love your channel!! Love your personality and design style so much and have binged a lot! I noticed you like to wear black a lot and for someone who is super into color analysis, you would look EXCELLENT in a deep warm brown, burnt deep orange, dark sage green, beiges etc. Black and white are cool colors and you are same as me and have warm skin tone. I have pleated blinds in the windows in the front of my home for temperature control. We get the rising sun in all those windows and it can quickly heat up my FL home in the summer. Luckily our house also has a covered walkway across the front which helps control light and heat. So as soon as the sun has reached a certain height, the blinds go up to let in the light but not the heat.

Good video - I laughed when I saw the bike machine because in my 20’s I had one in my bedroom and it did become my clothes hanger lol. Yikes - I eventually got rid of it. I love your style and my favorite room is definitely your living room - ok and closet. I do have to agree with the others on the abstract print. If you took those prints off, your room would be perfect. I know you do move things around constantly so I’m sure they’ll change but I feel if you are putting something over the bed it needs to be a complete neutral light canvas like I’ve seen you’ve done before.

I'm recently married and moved into my husband's home; the decor is lovely, but the furnishings are heavy and masculine. We will be doing a full renovation starting this fall (will actually be implementing many of the same renovations that I had just completed in my home...so excited for that!); we currently have a desk/computer in our bedroom and we are thinking of adding additional cabinetry and a desk in the kitchen for that purpose. I live in a 100 year old house that is 700 square feet. It has lots of windows and every one is covered by blinds that I had custom measured and installed. (original blinds were a random assortment from Home Depot that didn't match, too big, too small, hideous.) Curtains/drapes would take up too much room and in some cases there is no room for a return. While the blinds get dusty, they are easily cleaned whereas you have to dry clean most drapes. No more dry cleaning/ironing for me. Also I have a cat that would shred drapes -- he climbs and goes through screens and anything else to get whatever is outside that he thinks he needs to challenge. I love lamps and any kind of lighting. Trouble is that there aren't too many outlets in an old house so it's not so easy to install Kasa, etc. I've had electricians out several times to better this but there are only so many things I can plug in before I set the house on fire. And have you noticed that lamp/lighting stores are few and far between anymore?

Totally agree re: window dressings! I am struggling with some recently installed Roman blinds in our bedroom if you happen to see this and have any advice. I went with a neutral linen-look fabric and while they look nice when pulled up, they’re pretty blah when they’re down. I’m thinking of adding a trim..?
My other idea is to flank them with curtains but it’s a small room (10’ x 13’) and I think that might be an overpowering amount of Window Treatment!

You are one hundred percent on the blinds. Personally it's an eye sore. Unfortunately for me, I reside in a rental and I'm not able to take down the blinds in the apartment. My only option is to keep the blinds up all the time. I wish I could toss them!

We all EVOLVE! Yes, certainly everyone is entitled to indulge their own preferences in their own abode for however long they last!
However, it's not out of line to question her rationale for this piece given her position as an ADVISOR for developing "Elevated/Hi-End/Upscale" looks for your home. For a room promoting REST, it seems
Heavy/ Jarring whereas many other even Abstract Graphic pieces might be less so ...& more consistent with her promoted Upscale goals...& REST!
      Blessings All...as we EVOLVE!

I'm not really sure I've ever seen a hangman's scaffold in the art, but we believe in expressing your personal style through your choices in your home, whether it's through the art, the decor, etc. We absolutely LOVE the bold art! But maybe it will be something different in the future! Either way, it sounds to me like you would enjoy something calming! xxV

I used to have a tv cabinet from Ethan Allen that had doors that would slide back in so they were never out. It was flanked by book cases so was perfect in my then studio apartment. Since being married, we have not had a tv in the bedroom, nor in the kids room, just one in the living room. Blinds...I will never have again. They are just dust collectors. I much prefer the room darkening curtains. Guilty of trying to keep up with folding laundry, lol. 0:19 Fixing that with a dedicated laundry room. At least it will be out of view if I cannot get it put away right away.

I so agree about the blinds, they keep out too much light and stay dusty. The laundry room is a game changer and honestly we fold as we remove to minimize wrinkles and the need to iron/steam.

I have, and love, my tv cabinet - I feel I have the same one you had, doors slide back in so they aren't ever "in the way" or need clearance. And with shelves for other tech (4K/BluRay player) and 2 deep drawers on the base, it's a do-all-be-all cabinet that hides the tv when not in use - I hate looking at a big black screen, so ugly and distracts from the overall aesthetic of the room.

Hi, I don't like having a TV in my bedroom at all, however, I do have a laptop that gets tucked under my bedside cabinet when not in use, so I think I'll move that. I do love your bedroom, and I've tried to decorate mine with a black and white theme, white walls, white furniture but black accessories and light fitting.

Hi V, where are the cables for your tv, where do you plug it in? Do you think it's imperative that you have a chest of drawers etc under a wall hung tv? I'm not sure I have the space for it, my bedroom's half the size of yours and we have wardrobes in there too as we have nowhere else for them. Would really appreciate your expertise 🙂 x

Our frame tv has one cord that runs from the tv to a large connection box. We have this cord running in the wall to the floor area. We can plug anything extra into this box behind the dresser so the cords are never seen.

The one thing that we’ve never had in our bedroom is a tv, I just don’t get it, we watch it in our living room and then go to bed, I’ve just given my bedroom a little upgrade with my doona cover and gone with a rust kind of colour, it looks beautiful on the bed and has some texture to it, a little darker than that caramel coloured cushion you had on your couch in your previous video, I have a couple of those coloured cushions in my living room/tv room, it’s a lovely colour for our up coming cooler months here in Australia, although it’s still pretty hot 🥵 here at the moment, sometimes just changing out your bed linen can make all the difference and not cost you an arm and a leg. My next item to purchase is new bedside drawers but haven’t found any I like yet. Great video as always V, one of the perks of not sleeping is getting to watch your video soon after you upload it Lol 😂, although I’d rather be sleeping 😴…Cheers from Australia 🥰🥰

For me, having a TV in the bedroom is a mistake. Besides the fact that a TV on the wall is just unsightly, the bedroom is supposed to be an oasis for rest or for love! For the exceptional need for digital entertainment in bed, there are portable devices (think phone, tablet), but for the majority of the times there are much more interesting and healthier things to do in the bedroom than to watch TV… just my opinion, and I love having wall space for art, mirrors, and just blank spaces… so serene!

I’m rearranging my home and have reluctantly decided to put a computer desk in my bedroom as the internet is hard wired into that room due to being in a rural area. I’ve made the desk modern, slimline and added little shelves underneath the benchtop for the modem, graphic tablet and powerboard and tidy the cords. I made a riser for the printer so it’s going on the floor in the corner and not seen. I’m going to decorate part of it as it’s 8ft long. Having the desk in the room is going to make me feel like a teenager which is what I need to feel right now that I’m single. I have a range extender for the net but if I was to put the desk in the dining room, it’ll be too obvious and I had my old desks in there for a decade.
I’ve put 2 mattress toppers on my waterbed with the top one being cool gel. Apart from being functional and luxurious, it fluffs up the top of the bed instead of having lots of covers to make it look cozy. I took out the wardrobe drawers and put the newly painted (black) dresser in there. I put slimline modern black handles on it and it looks great. I’ll be putting up art soon above the desk and custom curtains. The desk is going on the far wall and behind the bed so it’s not going to be the main feature and I don’t work on the computer I use it for Photoshop and Illustrator so it’s a fun spot.

be earnest where did you see Scandinavians hanging their clothes on the wall as decor ????? or even on a open rack? , do you mean you saw it in a magazine? because Danish design magazines show homes that way, they like it to look very lived in and casual, it's not really reality though , sure a few people may do that, but as a 50 year old Dane I only remember seeing it once (the open rack) and that was when I was very young and in an apartment where a very young person live, so either it just happen to be something 1 person you know do or you saw that in a magazine, but it is certainly not something common (I live in Copenhagen) the only common place to have clothes hanging like that is in the entrance , lot of apartments in Scandinavia don't have a closet for coats in the entrance
