    I wasn't too familiar with breakdancing prior to the Olympics but Phil Wizard's dances showed great athleticism and creativity! He also comes across as a super nice and humble guy; a class act. Much respect to the athletes that competed and congratulations to him for bringing home the gold to Canada!

      Totally agree with all of this! I really appreciate how candid he was. He's charismatic and an excellent performer (with a gold medal to his name now!) but he's not afraid to show that he's still human. Phil Wizard's awesome. Let's hope we see a lot more of him and of breaking soon.

    As a Korean Canadian bboy who was active 15-20 years ago, I'm happy for Phil Wizard and wanna congratulate all the bboys and bgirls represented. Having said that, judging has been always the big issue in this game. If we want breaking to be in the future olympic games, the whole judging system and process including regional prelim, appointing judges, running committees will have to be super fair, transparent and approved by the dancers & bboy communities themselves.

    • @cornbread206
      @cornbread206 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    So glad you interviewed him. Its amazing...his demeanor is so pleasant and nice and his breaking was like a creative assassin. It gives insight that the best in the world are very intelligent, down to earth super nice guys. the sportsmanship and camaraderie between the breakers was amazing to watch. Its like they were all supportive of each other. Just beautiful to observe. I hope they run it again in 2028. I watched bits and pieces of the olympics. But for Breaking, I tuned in from beginning to the end and then I watched the replays. lol

    If they are taking out breaking in the next Olympics because its not a sport and not athletic, watch again! Its very physical, lots of training put into it. If you take this out because its subjective scoring, then you have to remove all the other events where subjective scoring is used like diving, arthistic swimming, gymnastics, figure skating and street/skate boarding. These are all subjective scoring. Remove the pommel horse, and that is breaking. You want kids to actively participate in sports, then keep breaking in Olympic games. Period! To all the breaking stars and followers of the sport, petition the IOC, deluge them with petition starting now and don't stop until IOC makes breaking an official Olympics sport. Congratulations, Phil Wizard for being the first Olympic gold medalist in your sport.

Throughout these interviews, he is organized, know full well what he is doing, very true to himself and remains humble after all. @@mensrea1251yeah boi! I don’t know if they’ve published official numbers, but if you compare the median viewer count on the NBC Sports channel, most events are sitting at 50-75k. Both breaking finals have over 1.3 million views (and rising), with other breaking vids averaging in the hundreds of thousands. That indicates healthy interest to me! Hopefully the TV ratings are equally impressive and send a message to the big wigs that the people want more breaking.
      To be fair, that’s far less than the 6+ million views for the basketball finals highlight reel, but it’s still up there overall.
