Much better to: Harvest all resources first, then research and build 8 heavy corvettes, THEN send the salvage corvette. The corvettes will auto-destroy the second wave of attackers without any micromanagement.

Not to sound biased but building both the probe & interceptors was a waste of resources at this point just like it would have been in the original game, the mothership is perfectly capable of taking care of the enemy ships itself & although it seems it doesn't take damage the research ship does take damage even if it seems negligible, it just repairs itself over time without having to dock with the mothership to do so, I'm sorry to be negative here but I think you could have handled this mission better
In THIS mission, no. When you encounter the same carrier again in mission 4 (I think), yes you can. The only thing you can really salvage here are their standard corvettes. Hate to say it, but Vulcan could've handled this mission better. Scrap the scouts; build one wing of about ten interceptors and replace them only as needed. Research the Corvette Drive and Corvette Chassis so you can build heavy corvettes. Build (or capture) a group of corvettes and put them in sphere formation, then order them to defend the salvage corvette as it moves to the Khar-Selim. Sit there and harvest resources until you can build at least five more salvage corvettes (they'll come in handy in the next mission) before jumping out. Also, when using your fighters to attack enemy fighters or corvettes, it's best to set YOUR fighters into Claw formation.
You can change the colour scheme of your ships. Even the original game allowed you to do that. However, there is (or was; it might've been fixed by now) a bug in multiplayer where if you change colours in multiplayer, it also changes the single player colours.
+VulcanHDGaming okay in retrospect I was harsh. because when I played this game when it came out, I constructed a while story in my head. I would RP as a Higarian Admiral while I played. It just doesn't look right to me. Are your ships green throughout the campaign?
you spamming interceptors and then at end building resourcer had me screaming build salvage corvettes
You know, you can put your fighter craft into formations and have them attack that way to make their attack runs much deadlier.
I don't think it matters much in HW2 since hits are percentage based.
Sphere deathballs used to be good though.

This really was (and still is) a great game, but that voice acting... emotions, apparently, are something the Hiigarans have bred out of their race.

Nah, that's the military deadpan. If you go watch Homeworld Cataclysm, they have *far* more emotion.

Notice the Interceptors formation is a " *Downwards Arrow* " ? :) killing time with HWRM.
P.S. it might also have been a good idea to have kept your salvage corvette docked since it wasn't being used after you sent it to the khar-selim

Can you remind me is it salvage ships that could steal an enemy ship, might you have been able to steal their carrier?
I tried that, since it's classed as a mothership in this mission it doesn't work
If you do that your salvagers will explode b/c the carrier always warps out
