Wont play the 5 except in rare situations, 80% of all PT in between MPJ/Jokic at PF.

Kanard Williams Cool, center is his original position tho. If he was on any other team that didn’t have an established center, he would be playing the 5

@@Guyyyy2027 ..and that'd be a mistake. As I said, no NBA GM or head coach would try to make Bol Bol, even if he regained the 25 pounds he lost after the surgery to his foot, he still couldn't play the 5 full-time, anywhere except maybe Toronto.
Besides, Bol is too much of a face-up player, his game has never projected to a position with his back to the basket.
Luckily for the Nuggets,, he does project to take on the "Durant" like role as a 7ft forward with elite shooting potential that can force other tall SF/PF's like Anthony Davis/Brandon Ingram/Pascal Siakim to think twice about trying to shoot over or go the hole against him. He's not a great face-up defender yet, but he'll do for now.

If the suspension of the season has benefited anyone, its the Denver Nuggets, for two reasons:
Like all teams, they have a chance to get healthy. But more importantly for Denver, its WHO they're getting healthy, as in both Bol Bol and Micheal Porter Jr.
As it stands now, the biggest deficiency on this team is the kind of length that at the very least creates second chance opportunities on offense with offensive rebounds, but also solves lack of rim protection that has led to uncontested layups and shots in the paint.
This will not be so much a problem for the Nuggets in the 1st round potential matchup vs HOU, Denver can send out Gary Harris/Torrey Craig/Jerami Grant/Keita Bates-Diop to mitigate Harden/Westbrook/Robert Covington. Those give the advantage back to the Nuggets, because HOU has noone who can competently deal with Nikola Jokic without fouling out.
Where it will matter is in potential 2nd round matchup vs LAC, and then finally a Western Conference Finals appearance vs the Lakers. As of now, the Nuggets would stand to be at disadvantage on the boards, but also having noone to mitigate the overall length of Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee, and most notably Dwight Howard, who's sole role will be to intimidate the Nuggets by blocking shots, out-muscling Jokic for rebounds, and getting uncontested lob dunks.
While Bol/MPJ will not match LAL in the block for position with Howard, they can use their length to, again, MITIGATE Davis as a face-up defender, add rim protection to block/intimidate teams from taking runs at the rim.
Offensively, adding both Bol/Porter's shot making ability then becomes the Nuggets equalizer to both LA teams, because their combined skill, added to Jokic/Jamal Murray/Will Barton/Gary Harris gives the Nuggets the edge in shooting.
If the Nuggets use this time to get both Bol/Porter Jr ready for the playoffs, count me in on betting them as a darkhorse to come out of the West.

You're forgetting neither of those two play any defense at all, especially at an NBA level. Bol would probably not get any minutes in the playoffs but the future is very bright for this nuggets team.

      @KDUB1970 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@ericfraley7330 In all due respect, this is a uneducated comment.
In today's NBA, where players like Jayson Tatum, and anyone else attempting mid-range shots inside the 3 point line are being criticized for being an inefficient shooter unless you play the 5 with your back is to the basket, what constitutes good defense is relative.
Btw, im gonna warn you in advance: if you have short attention span, or you don't really care to actually study the game, skip this analysis altogether.
That being said: defense, in any basketball era, can be simplified into this definition:
The ability to effect opponents field goal conversion percentage by successfully contesting attempts at all 3 levels, outside the 3 point line, inside the 3 point line, and at the rim.
Now, If thats our definition, from the 2nd qtr of the 2019-2020 season, the Denver Nuggets, as a whole, as a TEAM, are amongst the WORST IN ALL OF PROFESIONAL BASKETBALL.
      Its fact, look it up.
Further, the fact that you mentioned Porter Jr, a rookie who has played the LEAST MINUTES OF ANY ACTIVE PLAYER IN THE REGULAR ROTATION, and Bol, who hasnt played a SINGLE MINUTE IN THE NBA, is ludicrous, especially with Porter Jr.
Nuggets Head Coach Micheal Malone commonly scagegoated MPJ for his teams entire defensive ineptitude from December on. Its a narrative, its fake news that Malone used to bench Porter for utterly head scratching stretches.
Yes, Porter Jr, being a rookie that had the added deficit of not playing in a meaningful game in over 2 YEARS, made mistakes in missing defensive assignments, and at times showed lack of effort. That is true.
But again, considering the relatively miniscule amount of minutes MPJ played, creating a perception that Porter's mistakes could cost the Nuggets games is like blaming your guard dog for not protecting the front door when he spends most of his time in the back yard because you're worried about him taking a dump on the front lawn. You can't have it both ways.
Also, maybe you didn't know this, but heres the juxtaposition: the Nuggets, for the past two years, have been #1 in 3PT % Allowed. They are the best at limiting opponents 3 point conversion.
So, the smart question would be this:
How can a team that, in the 3 PT Era, is the best at limiting opponents 3PT conversions, and still be amongst the worst teams in total defense?
The answer is two fold: paint percentage allowed and blow-bys. The Nuggets allowed amongst the highest % of points in the paint in the NBA since January. Teams are attacking the rim and being rewarded for doing so.
Why? Exactly for the reasons I put in my original post: they lack the kind of length that will limit paint scoring %, not only because they do not have a rim protection that will intimidate drives in the paint for fear of being blocked, they lack the same length to consistently outrebound teams like the Lakers on the defensive boards, which creates second chance opportunities for their opponents.
So, as I said before, if the solution is to add that length, then both Porter Jr and Bol Bol, at nearly 6'11 and 7'2 respectively, must play and play often if the Nuggets are serious about winning a championship THIS YEAR.

@Marko R Guess I was right about Bol Bol/MPJ. Bol showed out in scrimmages, and MPJ has been a serious difference maker, 67 points, 27 rebounds in past two games.

Reason for that is slim build, shooting ability projection. Wont play much 3 or 5 except coming off bench, and still appears to need 15 pounds of muscle.

I don't think anyone's actually comparing him to KD. It's just that Bol Bol's game has some similarities with KD instead of Kristaps.
