Sarah Lancashire is one of Britain's best actresses. She really makes this series and is the best choice for the role...outstanding.

@@alanhall2795 Sad you feel that way. She was great as Julia Childs in the HBO Max show. She's great in this. Especially the scenes with James Norton in the first season. And in Last Tango in Halifax. All very different roles. Love Olivia Coleman as well.
She is one of the best actresses in GB, but she is acting the dialogue written by one of the best writers. Great combination
'Line of Duty' was good, but this is the best cop thriller since 'Cracker'
Cracker is the one that got me hooked. If this follows that formula should be interesting.

I remember seeing the TV trailers for this drama back in 2014. I then decided that it probably wasn't my cup of tea, thinking it was about a bobby in the countryside. How wrong I was!. I recently watched S1, Ep1 and was completely hooked by Sarah's acting and character role and the clever story line.
I ended up watching S1, S2 back to back and am now on S3!. Excellent written drama.
I was exactly the same. Fed up with Police programs that were so inaccurate (speaking as an ex-Police Officer). I don't remember it at the time, but would have dismissed it due to the title. My wife began watching season three, having seen the first two. I was sitting next to her, trying to read. I began watching and was hooked. Afterwards, I watched series one and two in the week before the next episode of series three. Brilliant, accurate drama. Great writing by Sally Wainwright and superb acting by the cast.

The sound of Catherine's voice, regardless of what she's actually saying, is sweet music to my ears. Credit to the divine Sarah Lancashire and her absolute command of character portrayal. Even if she grabbed me by the lapels and pushed me into a wall, and telling me off, I'd be swooning, I swear.

Heard this was coming so pulled out my copies of season 1&2. Re-Watched them to prepare myself for this series. Sarah Lancashire is sublime! The rest of the original cast are excellent as well, all of them.

I can watch Scott and Bailey and Happy Valley every day. Doctor Foster, Line of Duty, Bodyguard... Gentleman Jack. English series and English actors are by far the best. Hollywood could never make series like this. Outstanding by Sara🇷🇸 Big Respect❤

What we love about the best british shows is that they often have a single writer. Sally Wainwright can only write so much in a finite amount of time. She's not a writing robot. I'll take quality over quantity. I'm just surprised and delighted to see, after a long hiatus, that there IS a 3rd series.

I lived in the area for a time, it’s wonderful to revisit it. Plus she’s a marvellous actor and it’s all brilliantly done.

I just started bingeing series 1 to 3 recently. It's brilliant, Sarah Lancashire is phenomenal in it. It's very real in terms of family dynamics and life. It's a shame she's stopping but I can see why. It's a very demanding role. Cant wait for episode 3.
Brilliant already...I don't think it would have been half as good if Sarah Lancashire wasn't play the lead...but the supporting cast are top drawer also...well done BBC...it's a shame it's the last one ..but bravo x

I am beside myself with excitement!! I just loved this show❤ Sarah Lancashire and American actor Jonathan Lithgow look like they could be related.
The writing by Sally Wainwright is excellent. She must have an excellent Police contact. The relationship between CID and Uniform is very true to life. Contrary to popular belief, becoming a Detective is not a promotion from Uniform. It's a choice and a career path. You'll often find Uniform Officers with more experience and knowledge than CID as they are out and about dealing with crime as it happens.

Just discovered this show when I got a VPN and was able to stream the BBC iPlayer. Got hooked with series 1 and then 2, and now I'm disappointed series 3 is to be the last! Bugger all!

someone who isn't me might consider looking up some of the open source streaming apps, and/or a vpn to watch on UK streaming services, but i would of course never dream of doing such a thing myself... particularly the other day to watch the first episode ... or to catch up the first 2 series....

unlike Morse, which i adored, this show takes full advantage of normal english weather....Not More, i think it was Lewis, that always filmed in Oxford in the Summer, on sunny days! at one point i thought it was the Bahamas
Sarah is such a great baddass! She was a great part of Last Tango, too! Such a talent, a joy to watch.
