Napaka ganda po ng Batanes,almost 3 months din akong nag stay dyan..Mababait at magagalang ang mga taong naninirahan doon.
Well done Tina Marasigan and crew! I am an Ivatan and this very much reflects a snapshot of our lives. Even if this is just a few minutes, this is a well researched documentary. It shows that the team who made this did their work to talk to the locals. I'm particularly impressed with the accuracy of Tina Marasigan's pronounciation of the Ivatan words. Those words are not easy to pronounce if you are not an Ivatan but Tina nailed them all - like an Ivatan. Kudos!

yung BORACAY ay gaya din ng BATANES dati. kaso nasilaw ang mga namumuno dati kaya yung dating natural na ganda ng BORA ay NA-BORA na ng overcrowded people at mga establishment. Hopefully hindi mangyari sa BATANES, kaya maganda yung ginagawa nila na imbes magtayo ng mga hotel ay ginawa nlng nilang HOMETEL ang mga sarili nilang bahay. Good idea kc mapi-feel mo yung pamumuhay nila.

This is IDEAL tourism concept that MUST be spread ALL over the Philippines. NO to commercialized hotels and lodging that destroy local cultures and architectures.

Acdg. to our guide, fishermen these days don't depend on lighthouses anymore as they use their mobile gps. Surprisingly, we have wintertime in the Philippines, and the Ivatans celebrate the season. Unfortunately for tourists, December still has high winds which accounts for flight cancellations.

It's actually crazy to think these people are more sensible than any filipino politican in the country. The place doesn't seem that devloped with things like wi-fi and all that and like that one guy said ealrier, people don't have much opprtunity, but their leaders at least maintain their culture, buildings, and keep their cities, towns, and lands clean. The guy who I think is the mayor, said it best, he said the island want sto preserve their heritage and buildings as much as they want. I don't get why the cities or islands don't do this. It isn't even about corruption but about having some pride and respecting the past and people.

Tama po yung West Philippine Sea pero yung Pacific Ocean magiging East Philippine Sea? Mali na po iyon dahil ang Pacific Ocean ay malaking body of water na sumasakop ng maraming dagat sa mga bansa.
Yes, pero I learned in school na sakop ng mga bansa (lalo na Pinas kc paligid ng tubig) ang certain nautical miles from its seashore kaya kung meron West Phil. Sea meron din dapat East Phil. Sea. Meron din akong napanood na WWII documentary about the fierce battle between the Jap forces & the returning American forces led by Gen. MacArthur na naganap sa Phililippine Sea (sinabi ito sa documentary) bago naka landing si MacArthur sa Leyte. Isa pa meron din akong nabiling box of chocolates made in Guam showing "Philippine Sea" between Pinas & Guam

Oh yes, kc unfair naman dahil may UN law of the seas at kung merong West Phil. Sea eh dapat lang din meron East Phil. Sea. Di lang kc napapansin kc wala namang mga isla na pinagaagawan gaya ng Spratleys. Yung shorelines from Eastern Luzon, E. Visayas & E. Mindanao - di dapat Pacific Ocean kaagad. Kaya kung sa UN law of the seas inaplay sa west dapat sa eastern side din ng Pinas. O di happy tayo kc meron dun parang isang coral reef na part ng east Phil. plate na wala tayong kaagaw. And who knows bk darating ang panahon na madiscover nilang mas marami palang mga oil deposits sa East Phil. Sea kaysa sa West - kaya sorry na lang si gahamang China. :D
