Orochimaru isn’t the normal type of evil, he’s the impersonation of human curiosity, he leaves ethics aside to get knowledge, and he can easily change “teams” anytime he wants if it’s interesting to him or it helps him with whatever thing he needs, even if it is to satisfy his curiosity, he doesn’t have normal emotions, of course he does care for tsunade and jiraiya but very deep in his heart, he isn’t interested in killing as he probably does already know everything he needed to know about human death, he just sees the world as a massive book that he wants to read.

Orochimaru is underrated in a lot of ways in my opinion... He was evil for the experiments and abandoning the Village as well... In his own way, it was justified to him.. He hated how the ninja world was; he lost his parents, comrades, and even saw Tsunade experience PTSD two different times which ultimately push him down the path of immortality to try change things with jutsu... I know its been a while....but to put it simply, orochimaru's "Change of heart" was caused by kabuto. Everything kabuto had done was very similar to what orochimaru would have done...and it ended up being kabutos downfall. This caused orochimaru to realize that his lust for power would be his undoing, just as it was kabutos. So now orochimaru prefers to just observe things as they happen.
Orochimaru is a scientist and there allot of things which naruto and sasuke can't do together you will understand his position and importance in boruto series.. You always looks the things in binary(right or wrong)but this series tries to tells us that there are lot of things that needs to be taken under consideration rather than just talk idealistically!!!

He saw that his goal would not be achieved by him but maybe by saskue. So he changed his goal to not be the one who changes the world but be the one who assists another to change the world. His goal now is to see how and if saskue will do just that so he will do everything to support him.

Now as someone who has always naturally been curious, he is wondering how far and how strong his former protege Sasuke will go. That is his reasoning

Orochimaru has found how he wanted to see Sasuke grow. He never understood why one would want to train a pupil and not master it all themselves. But after his death. He became intrigued in how Sasuke and Kabuto carried on after his death. So he finally understands. If that makes sense. It’s hard to explain.
I think it had more impact when folks were watching Naruto 1ce per week, and FORCED to put up with / wait for filler arcs to finish as stuff was coming out in real-time. Gamakichi was always "Naruto's Toad," so it was really special, a "fanboy geek-out" moment to realize that the climactic "giant toad" summoning was Gamakichi. WAY cooler than if it had been Gamabunta... 'cause Gamakichi had grown up with us just like Naruto had. Might not be as big an impact in a "binge" environment. (Remember, for folks watching in real-time, it was ACTUALLY 10 years between first seeing Naruto ep 1 and his dramatic Sage-Mode Pain Arc entrance... even longer to now. So seeing massive Gamakichi REALLY meant a lot!)
That's Gamakichi the first toad that Naruto ever summoned in OG Naruto. (the little one) I think that's very cool because Gamabunta was originally Jiraiyas toad. So is Gamakichi Narutos toad. He used Gamabunta because his toad had to grow up first to be useful.

Orochimaru used to be all about having the power to do what he wanted and change what he wanted to change. But he failed. Kabuto mimicked Orochimaru and he failed too. But Sasuke, despite being very similar to Orochimaru at one point, chose a different path. He chose to abandon his revenge and join up with Konohagakure. This makes Orochimaru curious whether perhaps he should've done this too in his time and maybe then he wouldn't have failed. So now he chose to observe Sasuke to see whether he fails or not.
The point of using Gamakichi istead of Chief Toad, aside from being Naruto's personal summon since OG Naruto, is to push the idea that the next generation will carry on. It's a central theme of the series. Most the sacrifices on this show are the older generation entrusting the future of the world to the next generation. And so, here we are, a new Three-Way Deadlock with new members. It used to be Orochimaru and Manda with Jiraiya and Chief Toad (Gamabunta is his name), now it's Sasuke and Aoda with Naruto and Gamakichi. At the same time, like others have said, it's also showing Gamakichi's growth to align with Naruto's. They grew up together. (Sakura is the only exception because there isn't a giant clan of slugs, it's just Katsuyu.)

Orochimaru was sealed/died twice already, but still thanks to the curse mark was able to see how far things went without him around. In Naruto OG, he was the main villain, the main source of issues/problems based on his plans, but once Shippuden rolled around - as odd as it may sound - he became a "lesser" villain compared to the strength of Madara/Obito/Akatsuki. Now as someone who has always naturally been curious, he is wondering how far and how strong his former protege Sasuke will go. That is his reasoning

All fillers are not approved by Kishimoto. I don't l don't know where you got that from. Gamakichi is not a filler exclusive character because he shows up plenty in canon. Besides Suzy does watch the fillers. She just doesn't record them 😕
Orochimaru has found how he wanted to see Sasuke grow. He never understood why one would want to train a pupil and not master it all themselves. But after his death. He became intrigued in how Sasuke and Kabuto carried on after his death. So he finally understands. If that makes sense. It’s hard to explain.

This moment kind of redeemed Orochimaru in my eyes.
I think it had more impact when folks were watching Naruto 1ce per week, and FORCED to put up with / wait for filler arcs to finish as stuff was coming out in real-time. Gamakichi was always "Naruto's Toad," so it was really special, a "fanboy geek-out" moment to realize that the climactic "giant toad" summoning was Gamakichi. WAY cooler than if it had been Gamabunta... 'cause Gamakichi had grown up with us just like Naruto had. Might not be as big an impact in a "binge" environment. (Remember, for folks watching in real-time, it was ACTUALLY 10 years between first seeing Naruto ep 1 and his dramatic Sage-Mode Pain Arc entrance... even longer to now. So seeing massive Gamakichi REALLY meant a lot!)

I think that's very cool because Gamabunta was originally Jiraiyas toad. So is Gamakichi Narutos toad. He used Gamabunta because his toad had to grow up first to be useful.

I agree it felt weird and a little disappointing we didn't get to see chief toad, but it was nice seeing gamakichi all grow up. And yes Juugo is fine I agree haha. I also couldn't have been more prouder for Sakura during these episodes.

Orochimaru used to be all about having the power to do what he wanted and change what he wanted to change. But he failed. Kabuto mimicked Orochimaru and he failed too.
But Sasuke, despite being very similar to Orochimaru at one point, chose a different path. He chose to abandon his revenge and join up with Konohagakure. This makes Orochimaru curious whether perhaps he should've done this too in his time and maybe then he wouldn't have failed. So now he chose to observe Sasuke to see whether he fails or not.
The point of using Gamakichi istead of Chief Toad, aside from being Naruto's personal summon since OG Naruto, is to push the idea that the next generation will carry on. It's a central theme of the series. Most the sacrifices on this show are the older generation entrusting the future of the world to the next generation. And so, here we are, a new Three-Way Deadlock with new members. It used to be Orochimaru and Manda with Jiraiya and Chief Toad (Gamabunta is his name), now it's Sasuke and Aoda with Naruto and Gamakichi. At the same time, like others have said, it's also showing Gamakichi's growth to align with Naruto's. They grew up together. (Sakura is the only exception because there isn't a giant clan of slugs, it's just Katsuyu.)
