I used to perform it when I was 12.... I was a talent as people used say. Then stopped my lessons, gave up and never follow my dream as I had problem with my left hand because of overstrain. I was too young and stress my hands, made extrusions. Now, 40 years later every time I come face to face with grand tremolo I cry...
That's a shame. Are you able to play to any level, even for yourself, without discomfort? Even 'keeping your hand in' is good for the soul, heck, 3 chords and you've got Status Quo :)
@@ChrisM541 unfortunately after a few minutes of playing there is pain and have to be patient for a couple of weeks till pain disappear...Too pity! But I still have a great voice, am a contralto super bass woman and I can sing!
Listen ..I am 73 trigger finger and arthritis in my left hand ...still keep playing ..get arounds ...been playing forever ..play it from the heart..it will come through.
@@amigosXcorrespondenc I believe he meant that he doesn't do like any unnecessary hand moves or weird faces when he's playing. In a sense, Russell is a very straight forward musician, he only sits down and plays, and he does it flawlessly. That's just my opinion though :)
this was absolutely breathtaking. bravo. I'm not even a guitarist, I'm a classical pianist and this song which was a random click makes me want to learn classical guitar. So beautiful thank you
It’s the famous “Carnegie Cough” which will never go away, no many how many cough drops you take to the concert hall.😂 I know that since I’ve been attending every international series and American series..😊
***** Thank you for the information.Never heard anything from her untill now. She plays realy, realy beatifull, but David is ,at least for me, still a bit better.
David Russell, without a doubt, a great musician and guitarist. One comment: this piece by the wonderful composer Barrios is Una Limosna por el Amor a Dios, not El Último tremolo.
The name of this piece is "La Última Canción" or "Una limosna por el amor de Dios"; I don't know where this improvised "El Último Tremolo" name comes from... .
David's slow tempo in the first two bars violates music theory, and the overall standard tempo should be balanced (Williams played very accurately) - this is the basic framework of the whole song. Inconsistent rhythm disturbs the soul...

Everything composed by Barrios is awesome. Mr. Russell you're a MAESTRO!

David, your tremolo is exquisite. No one's compares to it not even John Williams'. Thank you for existing.

Playing well is all about being relaxed and keeping it simple. Thank you, David.
Keeping it simple? lol.
That’s why I love playing classical. Because to do it well you have to empty everything else in your mind
i play best when im thinking about something else lol

His tremolo is incredibly smooth. Very edifying rendition
Totally agree. Rusell's tremolo is the second best in the world. The best is Pepe Romero's (in old recording).
💯💯💯
..this is Gorgeous...there should be no "dislikes" from capable musicians.
Don't worry there's not.
I can't really understand the dislikes.....what is it they would change????
haha this comment aged well
I have to keep hearing it, it's so beautiful!!
A wonderful performance of a beautiful piece of music. 👏
There's a place where sadness turns into happiness- it's right here. 💜💞💜
i am wondering that which kind of 26 people doesnt like this. Perfect tremolo perfect performance
mesut keşkek
Without feeling it loses it's meaning, that is the secret to performing this well, otherwise it's just notes on a page.
Well I guess the 26 dislike this are NOT people...
What a wonderful musician David is.... He help make classical guitar survive and thrive!!!!
Bravo David !
ACM thanks for posting this gem!!
Barrios was one of the few ever who really understood Tarrega! I love him for that!!!!
😊😊😉
This is barrios though
Excellent tremolo technique. This is especially important in this production, which many on TH-cam play randomly. Yours is very good and sounds great.
*The most beautiful selective tremolo technique with wonderful sound precision*
*David Russell is brilliant*
Hermosa!!!
Thank you for this awesome video! Huge fan of Mr. Russell! you're tempting me to become a guitarist. Thank you for your inspiration.
@@NylonStrings83 As a man who plays classical guitar, I would like to hear your arguments on why it can frustrate you
I would agree...sorrowful and absolutly beautiful
Bravo maestro!
There's always that one guy that coughs.. is it the same guy at every performance?
Philip Haycock lol
😂😂😂😂😂
Rival classical guitarist's employ them, to try to spoil the performance in some way.

Smoothest tremolo you'll hear anywhere. Bravo.

Impossibile put dislike...people who can't understand nothing about classic guitar
Thank you!
Stunning rendition.
Very well done!
Chapeau!

Wow..... 😌🎶🎶
bravoooooo david
Original name of the piece is ‘una limosna pór el amor de dios ‘ I think
The best 👍
Does anybody know what kind of guitar he's playing? Beautiful indeed.
excellent
How many hours take to this Masters to learn to perform a piece like this?
😍😍😍😍😍
1:20 I start becoming verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.
I'm actually practice this song for my parents
The real name is "Una Limosna por el amor de Dios"

excellent~!...🦚
Barrios played by David Russell, it doesn't get any better than this!!!!!!!
Nevertheless, breathtaking.
Yes man it's the same piece, it seems it has 2 names
+Todos Vuelan Ok, thank you
Luca Prospero that's the real title. while El Ultimo Tremolo means the last tremolo because this was the last tremolo piece that Barrios wrote
His grave is near to my house.
Infinito
👏👏👏👍👍👍
we wont hear a "better" version than this recording, from anyone
- it took me 10 minutes to think of what to comment lol

This is almost good as john Williams performance! wonderful classical guiarist! wonderful
that's correct!! Almost good as Williams and Williams almost good as Pierri
Dude this is better than Williams
deep into my heart.. sad, lonely,
When Jesus Christ praying, while all His disciples are sleeping..
steve jobs shredding it
lmfao I almost spit out my drink, completely forgot I wrote this
The only thing that gives me trouble on this piece is playing the tremolo when your thumb comes up closer to the tremelo string and the transitions
It's absolutely excellent, however, I bet you can't play it really badly like I can.
disappointing
