I noticed you guys really love seeing Tiki and the tokay twins so I'm going to do my best to share more entertaining/educational content on keeping these beautiful, personable animals! Hope you guys are doing well and don't forget to answer today's comment of the day!
Sir, I had a tokay Gecko before, I just want to share my experience in taming it, I used a tube that they can hide, but cant turn around, I bring that tube out and handle the tokay gecko that way, They start to be tamed when i put my fingera and they curl their tail on to your fingers. If you want I can share some pictures
I have a five-month old Tokay named Jeno, and he's as sweet as my leopard geckos! He's very vocal and still has that Tokay attitude, but he never bites! Your videos are actually what made me decide to get a Tokay instead of another Crestie and its the best decision I've made! Thank you
Hey so I am looking into getting a tokay gecko when I previously had a leopard gecko which unfortunately passed away after 14 years I’ve had him since I was 11 I have a very nice cage for a leapord gecko and was wondering if I could put a tokay gecko in the same habitat I have a dry Matt and a bunch of rocks and water areas but it seems more like a desert area is that okay or should I get a new habitat for them?
@Sal You definitely need a new habitat. Tokay Geckos live in a tropical climate while Leos live in a more arid/temperate climate. Tokays need high humidity, lots of vertical space, and plenty of hiding/climbing space made of cork bark, driftwood, or any other reptile-safe branches. A few rocks and ground-hides are not going to cut it with a Tokay. Their level of maintenance is also much higher than that of a leo, I have to clean, mist, feed, and change water more frequently than with any of my other lizards. If you're willing to put in the money for a good setup, it won't be as difficult. I recommend watching some care/set up guides for tokays as well as researching their temperament. I got very lucky and mine is quite biddable, but many Tokays are strictly display animals and they cannot be handled as freely or safely as Leopard geckos. Hope this helps!
I live in Asia and these all come wild, most people consider them pests here. Tokay are amazing little friends, nothing brings me greater happiness in the middle of the night than hearing them do their mating call while it echos throughout the house.
I have 11 actually. I'm trying to produce captive bred animals so people can see the full potential of these guys. They are highly intelligent ,impressive to look at and absolutely tameable. I only have wild caught adults right now as this project is in the early stages. I have found that you can build alot of trust with an animal that has its very own cage and kept by itself.
What is the lifespan and if you have time please read the comment I just left on this thread and give me your thoughts on our situation with wild geckos living on our bedroom wall in Philippines. Thanks Eric
I own three! All of mine are hand-tame, and it took a few months of gentle handling, patience, and occasional treats. All three of mine were wild-caught, and waited until they were out of quarantine to even try to handle them gently, with cloth gloves. I also use the idle lap method, where I set them in a pocket or on my lap and talk or work at my computer normally until they are completely relaxed, then gently put them back in their enclosure with a treat. Mine are 1.2.0, a large adult male, an old adult female, and a young adult female. They all have their own enclosures. Most of mine already eat from the flat of the hand, but I'll definitely try feeding with tongs. As a note, anytime I take any animal out I'll tap my nails on the enclosure a few times to let them know I'm opening up to handle them, and don't tap when it's just a water change or cleaning.
Once I get all the long distance trails I wanna do out of my system I want to adopt a tokay; they are so hilarious in every way. I love how enthusiastic and 'vicious' they are when they hunt, walloping their prey against hard objects. I love their vocalizations and how you can earn their trust.❤
Because of your tokay videos, I’ve convinced my mom and I’m getting a tokay of my own! I finally feel confident enough to own one because of you and so many other content creators. Thank you for giving these geckos positive representation! :)
I’ve been breeding so many geckos, but the reason i don’t breed Tokay Gecko is he is too fierce. I think it will hurt if i get bitten by them. But, Taming them well, they will be good pets. That’s cool :) I enjoyed watching this video :D
When Tiki reached out that first time onto your hand around 5:07 I laughed probably much harder than I should have. Tiki was doing their best but the little bridge gap that they did between the enclosure and your hand was too funny for me! Tokay geckos are so beautiful. I can see why people would want to have them be handled. Thank you for the educating video!
5:06 is the most adorable thing ever, oh my god! Seeing him stretch out like that like hes still a bit hesistant. I pre-purchased a cb tokay from a breeder, and cannot contain my excitement as I finish his enclosure. The breeder has been really cool about waiting for me to get everything right beforehand. I can't wait!
I guess TH-cam recommended this video to me because I've been watching your videos with tokays in them- very informative video! I would love a tokay someday. Keep up the great work :)
I can literally get one whenever I want there's a million of this because we have alot of trees and big space so ye or I can ask the kids outside my house to catch them for me
I'm getting two cb females from a friend next week and I am beyond excited! They seem to be about at the stage that Tiki is at in this video, except they're still a bit young (about a year old). I'm beyond excited to experience them.
In my country (Philippines) they are very common! They suddenly even appear in houses out from the wild, I have 2 of em in my house lol, and Yes they are so aggressive but we actually don’t mind them staying in our houses but we don’t make em our pets as well, it’s just kind of a normal thing in my country to have Tokay Geckos, it’s like our house is theirs and they can be very noisy sometimes 😂 and we call em “Toko”. Nice video tho!
Saw a dark today with orange spots at an expo in CatAleah’s latest video, and I was immediately obsessed. They’re so gorgeous. Discovered this video and your channel off the back of my search TH-cam search for them!
Awesome, fun video. It's super cool to see Tiki jump on to your hand when all I've heard and seen about these geckos is that they hate humans and bite fingers super hard lol. Your channel is great, and your dedication and passion for exotics creatures really shows. Keep up the great work!
I've been using the same techniques with the wild Lizards in my yard, they work , you just have to be really patient. The hungrier they are , the more they will come out. You can only reward them for being brave.
I have a wild Tokay that has moved into my house. Traditionally they eat MICE here. Being that it feeds and waters itself currently, either it's going to be extremely food motivated or not at all. I raise BSFL, about 1/2 the length of those super-worms. Hoping that would be attractive enough. Set a bowl out, then eventually try tong feeding? What about treating parasites in a wild, non-caught Tokay?
I actually just got a juvenile captive born male tokay Gecko. He has just started letting me hold him calmly after taking him out of his cage. I work for a pet store that had him, and was trying to form a bond with him since day one. While he seemed to have gotten extremely aggressive towards other employees, he only ever nipped at me lightly when i try to bring him out. He calms down almost immediately after I get him out. Closes his mouth and starts to lighten up in color to that beautiful blue and small green colors. The employees had him for so long and surprised he was so calm with me, that they just wanted me to have him. So, his name is Bubbles and while he looks like a cutie, we found out that he just doesnt like men in general. He is Bubbles with a bubbly personality, just be aware that he pops with personality and attitude too!
I had Tokays living loose in my house in Devon Uk. A pair lived in the front room in a 2 inch gap between the wall and a 17 ft ply wood V salvator viv. That was from floor to ceiling. They were great in that they were just coming out into active mode when I came home from work. They would hang head down a few feet above me every evening while I watched the creatures, tv or ps2. I could hand feed them but plastic tongs are always bettter. No association of food with fingers then. There was another male who lived upstairs. Not quite as big as Art the down stairs male. They often had vocal battles on the big stair wall. During the summer they would even leave the house through open windows i know this as I often saw and heard them outside. I never lost one like this though, they always returned. The downstairs pair bred many times. The first time I saw babies was one evening sat down watching telly when I noticed a movement out of the corner of my eye and there it was. It’s brilliant white banded tail signalling wildly to the parents on the other side of the doorway. It very quickly moved over the door and down between its parents where it stopped and settled, only to be joined by another that copied the same sequence. Both parents and young would readily feed from my fingers. Amazing pets amazing animals.
I used to own a Tokay gecko. I just reached into the cage while it had its mouth open toward my hand. It would start honking and I’d let it bite me a few times and eventually it realized that the bite wasn’t effective and I would just keep petting it. After months I would just reach in and pick it up and it wouldn’t bite or run away. It would just hang out. Then I would feed it after I put it back in the cage. The association was that after letting me pick it up, it would get food.
I'm receiving my first tokay hopefully on Tuesday, I'm excited. I've had all sorts of reptiles and snakes over my lifetime, so I'm excited. Are the males loud at night? I'm only getting one as a start, I may get more, I may even try and get a female to breed them. But I am curious about how vocal the males are?
My adult male has never made a sound in the 6 months I’ve owned him. He make that classic bark when I get my hand near him, but that’s it. I’ve tried playing recordings next to him, and still nothing!!!
...I don't have pets, I'd rather call them neighbours that live in my house rent-free. I have like 3 different tokay geckos in this house alone and they make super cute sounds at night, they might be loud but they don't last long, so I'm pretty sure you can still have a good rest :> I'd like to make the tokays in my house as my pets tho lol
Depends. If you do your research and have the money and time for one then definitely. But if you don’t have the funds, or are lazy (lol) then might not be the best idea. Any age could keep reptiles or animals if they have the funds, do the research, and have time.
Cool things about tokays: they are unique about their sound and foot. They are the only geckoes that make zat sound. And I tell they're (not pretty) LOUDDDD as fricc. And their foot, I mean toes bends upward instead of just walking normal. Their toes are using static electricity to stick onto ANYTHING, any solid material or flat and rough. It's basically a futuristic plunger and their stick-onto-any-solid-surface is also strong. That's why their toes are designed to flip back and peel off to deactivate da sticky Boi.
Damn your tokays are like a completely different species to what I had almost a decade ago... If my cage was ever open I'll never ever see them again, and they just strike at ANYTHING that moved. I wish I had brought up one like you did now.
Hey man I just got a week old tokay and i was wondering how often do i give it calcium with d3? Also wanted to know how often I give it calcium without d3 as well
Great video! Been wanting to see this from you. I have a juvenile and hatchling that I’m hand/tong training and I was not sure if I should use this method. I’ve seen it used with monitors. I’ll start using it! Thanks buddy!

I seen two in the wild, in south Florida. I was working on a re model went in the garage and I seen one it was huge! It ran behind the shutters on the wall so I went over to it because I didn't know what kind of gecko it was, pulled the shutters back and there was two! I'm pretty sure they were a mating pair, because they were face to face
I have some questions. I have a tokay, shes really small and hasnt grown since I got her, she still sheds and everything, she is eating regularly too. I'm just really confused. Shes about 6 inches and around 5 years old. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right. Any help is appreciated :)
I was amazed, many people liked it, but 85% of my country was scared of it, even though I could find it in my own home (in the countryside, almost every home), just the sound made my friends cry.from Thailand
Thank you so much for this video. I rescued several wild caught tokays just a few days ago and your video helps me to know the steps to take. Right now they are all very aggressive because they have been traumatized (Sadly). They came back from the vet visit with meds the same day I rescued and are doing better with food offered. Down the road I would like to breed and help stop these and several other species I have from being wild caught. Thanks again for the video it is going to help!!!
So I got a pair of tokay like weeks ago. One was healthy the other one was so skinny, acording to what you say I do believe it could be that there is parasite in the skinny one. I am still trying to get her to eat but its not really affective. On the other hand, the healthy one escaped her tank, but its unsual because she did not leave my room, I think she is just comfortable with her “bigger home” now. I did offer food for her, tong at first then hand feeding, she took it all. I was separating the two because I think that it would be better to treat the skinny one first then i put them together in one tank. Anyways, what u’re doing is my motivation to tame my tokays. Keep it the work.
Ive been hearing for years that they are horrible pets, but Ive always wanted one. Ended up getting one little less than a year ago. Just have to make it comfortable and be patient. Id say mine is a little more skiddish than Tiki, but Im still able to get it to crawl onto my hand every once in a while.
Hey that terrarium where you tokay is, isn't an exoterra right?, I see that the door is not divided in two sections, is just one big door, can you tell me the brand?
I love those. Would love to own one. And not much scared about them biting. But how loud are they really? Would my neighbours be complaining about them screaming?
Tokay geckoes are living in almost every house in my country because they are native animal here. They are very smart and like to interact to humans even they are wild geckoes. They also make 'tokay' noise to talk to humans sometimes. Some of them even seems to know how to ask for food from humans. Unfortunately most people here are scared of them.
I noticed you guys really love seeing Tiki and the tokay twins so I'm going to do my best to share more entertaining/educational content on keeping these beautiful, personable animals! Hope you guys are doing well and don't forget to answer today's comment of the day!

they are awesome, but what about the vocalization? are they very loud during the night?
I find that it’s sort of a seasonal thing. Tiki will call out. When he does, no way to deny it’s super loud but otherwise they are a joy to keep!
How big must be the Terrarium for 1 Adult tokeh
Don’t know if I would ever own a tokay, but I would own that adorable red eyed croc skink that comes and watches you.
What model enclosure is that? like the choice in terrain inside as well
Just got two this past weekend. They are a little feisty but I love them
I've wanted a tokay gecko for years, but still haven't found a breeder. they're one of my favorite animals!
The crocodile skink was cracking me up the whole time
Damn your tokays are like a completely different species to what I had almost a decade ago...
I love all your videos BUT the tokay gecko videos are my favorite!!!!!! My tokay is a brat and won’t even come out lol
This was very cool to watch.
I was amazed, many people liked it, but 85% of my country was scared of it, even though I could find it in my own home (in the countryside, almost every home), just the sound made my friends cry.from Thailand
they have amazing colours and food responses!
Awesome vid man! Eventually I wanna get a tokay!
I Have 3 and love them! One is so tame I can walk around with him. Great video
Awesome! I love tokays!
Do you’re spray you’re tokay geckos enclosure??
Thank you so much for this video. I rescued several wild caught tokays just a few days ago and your video helps me to know the steps to take. Right now they are all very aggressive because they have been traumatized (Sadly). They came back from the vet visit with meds the same day I rescued and are doing better with food offered. Down the road I would like to breed and help stop these and several other species I have from being wild caught.
Thanks again for the video it is going to help!!!
I Love these but i am genuinly worrried also what would you recommend for an exo terra 45x45x90 tall idk what to out in it
so cool! Thank you for sharing this experiece with us
So I got a pair of tokay like weeks ago.
Would a Tokay Gecko be a good pet I have frogs fish and housed a bearded dragon for a while
Ive been hearing for years that they are horrible pets, but Ive always wanted one. Ended up getting one little less than a year ago. Just have to make it comfortable and be patient. Id say mine is a little more skiddish than Tiki, but Im still able to get it to crawl onto my hand every once in a while.
They take some work but are bold, beautiful display animals to say the least! Thanks so much for watching!
Also his lil jump is adorable
Haha yes
I used to own a tokay gecko I loved to listen to him at night when he would "talk". I want to get me another one again one day.
Thanks for sharing! Yes, they can be pretty vocal sometimes!
@@Reptiliatus yes they can but it's so cute. Do you have any gargoyle geckos? I have 2 and one of mine is a silly thing.
Aaaaww the crocodile skinks 🤣🤣😂
Hey that terrarium where you tokay is, isn't an exoterra right?, I see that the door is not divided in two sections, is just one big door, can you tell me the brand?
I just brought home my tokay this weekend and she's so beautiful! I named her Warhol because the spots remind me of pop art. :)
Wonderful! Congrats! Love the name choice!
Is this wild catch or breed?
Yes!, I dream of having a Tokay! I plan to in the future!
Where did you get your tokay geckos?
I love those. Would love to own one. And not much scared about them biting. But how loud are they really? Would my neighbours be complaining about them screaming?
They are really cool! Sometimes males are loud 😅. Do you live in an apartment?
Tokay geckoes are living in almost every house in my country because they are native animal here. They are very smart and like to interact to humans even they are wild geckoes.
They also make 'tokay' noise to talk to humans sometimes.
Some of them even seems to know how to ask for food from humans.
Unfortunately most people here are scared of them.
Can you do more tokay and crested geckos
just wondering but what do you do when they bark? because the wild ones around my apartment compex start barking around 3AM 🥲
