Charging ic has basically two functions. First function is to switch the 19v Adapter voltage into the motherboard through first and second mosfet switching. Another function is to charge the battery of the laptop motherboard.
Practical and theory of the charging ic both are important for solving any charging problem, Internal logic of the charging ic like bq24707, bq24745, bq24735, all the charging ic of different manufacturers works more or less on the same working philosophy and the problems related to all the ics are similar.

Charging IC are of various types... Depending upon the motherboard architecture. Adapter Charger uses tap rectifier for supply. Charging section of the motherboard controls that power flow into the motherboard 👍👍
