I watched a kid do this one time. It ended up being like a 3 or 4 part series of him trading useless things for useless things. A paperclip for a piece of gum for a newspaper to an expired coupon book etc etc etc.
Sean seems like one of those friends whose passion for fun is infectiously contagious. You guys are lucky to have a friend like sean, although craig ...i cant believe you havent punched him tho...lol!
I agree but at the same time, you never know what someone just wants out of their yard too. Especially in the country. Around here you could take a four wheeler and get a rusted 55 bel air that needs some work. So open minds and a positive can do attitude can go a long way at the same time
This video is a great example of why societies switched to currencies instead of the barter system. Yes, bartering works, but it takes a lot of time and energy to find the right people to make trades with.
This is pretty good, even though you have a bunch of friends throwing you bones. I did this once with plate carrier (bullet proof vest), traded up a few times and ended up with a cord of fire wood. Along the way there was a kindle that i traded for a .22 rifle, that was traded for a coleman fat tire mini bike, which was traded for a honda 3 wheeler, that was then sold for $400. The $400 paid for the firewood. All said it took a couple years to do that.
I love when a random TH-camr I watch randomly connects with another random youtuber I watch. It's like I'm normal and everyone is my friend and likes the stuff I like.
Well I started with an old 50cctwo stroke and now I'm trading my CB750 and some other bits and odds (lot's of stuff actually) for a new Tenere 700 Rally :)

You could just say that the cost of making the trades are compensated by the earnings of the video. Basically video production cost... but I get what you are saying.
I stopped watching this video once Matt gave him two recovery ropes. It was an extremely generous gesture on Matt's part, but I was hoping for an example of what could be done in the real world, not when your friends just give you stuff that is of much greater value.

@@Andy241 it's probably just a eBay vanity plate. You can buy ones with registration seals on there. It can't really be pre 2000 since it's EU format and those were introduced in 1998ish if I'm not mistaken.
Basically, you got a bunch of people to make a donation to you. Next time, the more direct route would be a charity website and you trade your penny in for the amount raised.

I had a friend who did this a lot. He got cars, bikes, guitars, etc. this way. He said there were only two rules. 1) Always get the better end of the deal. 2) Never trade for something you want to keep.

What landcruiser was worth $500? Have you looked at what they are going for? Clean fj-40's go for multiple 10's of thousands of dollars. if it was running at all it was worth more than $500 without a doubt.. I can't imagine a complete landcruiser (any model) at all being worth that little even not running.
I'm not saying your Harley is isn't worth more.. but landcruisers have increased in value a ton. And will likely continue to do so. I'm not a Harley guy but I know the right Harleys will do the same though.
