One of the many shows created to capture the hype that Mad Men created. A bit sad that this show didn't last, because I think the story of Pan Am had so much potential.
I agree. I think the main problem was that it was just too expensive to produce. With the central premise to travel to different destinations each episode (or throughout the season) it was too costly to create those locations. I just loved this show though.
I just finished the whole season in less that 16 hours! I really wished that there was a season 2 (which is very selfish of me but i really want to know what happened between Ted and Laura)
I know why they cancelled the show, the plot was getting all messed up. Like how do you go forward with Dean and Ted and their respectively messed up romantic lives? In real life, Dean couldn't move on emotionally from Bridgette like that. Ted could move on from Amanda, but not with some scars. Also, the way Laura ran away from her fiance and wants to remain independent, I don't see her getting into anything with Ted.
Have to give it to ABC, they tried so many promising shows back in the day, this one and Galavant both come to mind. Wish this show had gotten at least a second season like Galavant did.
This show should have starred Leonardo DiCaprio, seeing he acted opposite Margot Robbie in Wolf of Wall Street. Oh, and he played an imposter Pan Am pilot.
@@deborahearle4151 Yeah, possibly. Seeing Leonardo Dicaprio was older here, he would be too old to play Abignale. So he ought to have instead played Ted, who wound up with Laura. Or, he could play the man Abignale ripped off, Juan Trippe, the company boss.
@@broadstreet21 It's rather interesting that after he did Catch Me if You Can, Di Caprio played Howard Hughes, who was Juan Trippe's rival in The Aviator.

@@ZSYStriker There were complaints about certain inaccuracies, such as the fact that Pam Am pilots of that era were more likely to be men in their 40s, and WWII veterans rather than younger men, and there were too many instances of the characters playing musical beds. I had enjoyed its stylishness. But a lot of its potential was squandered.
It crazy that today's era i can't imagine broadcast television could even have produced this anymore... because only streaming or like HBO can do these stuff now given the cost.
@@broadstreet21 I was confuse because In this scene in the trailer that guy is not the actor that play Dean in the serie. Dean in the serie is played by actor Mike Vogel. After doing some research, I discovered that Dean was originally going to be played by Jonah Lotan. So, the actor seen in the trailer at the 1:14 mark is Jonah Lotan. Later, the role of Dean was recast, and Mike Vogel took over the part, and in the serie we see only Mike Vogel playing the role of Dean.
This was a really good-looking series, but unfortunately it was a colossal flop, lasting only slightly longer than one of Pan Am’s transatlantic flights back in the 1970s.

Exactly. They changed the pilot. ODonnelle is the captain. Good series but it would have been better on Premieruim cable then network

I love this show! I remember watching Margot Robbie and thinking 'she's going to be a big star' and well, she is!

Discovered Pan Am simply looking up Margot Robbie, after my co-worker said she should have starred in a movie adaptation to my novel.

This looks kinda weird. Only watching it for Donna aka Margot Robbie aka the one who said"I'm not looking for a husband."

Luckily Margot Robbie is a better actor than writer….not nearly as good as Mad Men.
