Yeah I like Symphonia more (though I give combat to Abyss). But if we're gonna talk PS2 games, definitely should've been the Abyss that got the slot over Symphonia.
So happy to see rogue galaxy on this list. It was my personal favorite rpg on the ps2. Having the ability to have your partners ask for commands while fighting is so good. Love the story and the traveling to distant worlds. Each is different and so much intrigue. The side missions are great.
To be fair it wasn’t nearly as complex or confusing than any other game after it, things were simple and even a bit deeper, The empty shell left behind are nobodies that’s the enemy, that’s literally it, aside from things expanded upon from 1, the story though in 2 was a lot deeper and memorable and the ending is arguably as impactful as the first, it’s quite literally the only time you actually get to be with Kiari
Tales of symphonia was only Japan exclusive on the ps2, western fans could only play GameCube, Ps3 and pc version of game it’s shame you didn’t pick “Tales of the abyss” since that was the most popular tales of game on the ps2
true. playing on real ps2 back then, only saw ToS in JP only, while video clearly shows in english. not sure even there's fantranslations available either. Tales of the Abyss should be here instead since it was masterpiece as well. While video did say "their video, their rules", still shud have their facts checked. Quite fatal mistake in my book albeit rest of featured titles are mostly inline with mine preferences.
@@mrnygren2 well still if you are playing the remastered version on ps3 it is technically a remaster of the ps2 game which makes it a ps2 game. if it was a remake not a remaster then it could be considered a legit ps3 game.

Final Fantasy X was my favorite game of all time for 20 years. I still love to go back and play it. Final Fantasy XII and The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age are also really good RPG’s.
I remember picking up the 1st kingdom hearts for the first time in a game shop thinking what is this i brought it and played and it blew my mind then i got all the other games then i got the kh collection on ps4/ps5
PS2 has the richest and probably the best library of JRPG until now. There were so many of them on the platform, that some of them even went unnoticed and unfortunately got sequels or didn't get much attention due to a lack of good advertisement etc. For example I'd give the title of the best JRPG on PS2 to Xenosaga Episode 3, and I'm sure if it was out today, (any part of it), it would get much more attention and love than it got back then, and also due to a wrong title given in press (I remember some journalists were calling it potential Final Fantasy killer, only because ppl who made it were ex-employees of Squaresoft years before, and thus comparing those series was quite stupid imho).

Ya Radiata Stories probably won't see that treatment but at least it's still affordable to buy a cib copy. It was like $10-$20 for the longest time, now around $40+ I think. People need to get it while they can lol

Radiata Stories really is my favorite PS2 game. I love the characters so much. There is two manga series if you want to read them. One about Jack, and another about Ridley.
I don't know if it deserves to be on this list, but I enjoyed playing Mega Man X: Command Mission. I love that they made a turn-based RPG entry for Mega Man.
It definitely deserves to be on the list. Command Mission was a great Rpg and had a unique battle system that almost resembled Legend of Legaia. It is usually overshadowed though because of the PS2 having some pretty legendary Rpgs.
And this is why many consider the PS2 the greatest console of all time. I remember sinking hours into just about all these games and every last one of you named was a banger. You couldn't really go wrong with any PS2 RPG.
Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts: Covenant are 2 of my all time favorite games. They are actually sequels to a PSX game Koudelka and did have a sequel called Shadow Hearts: From the New World, but it didn't do as well as Covenant Covenant.

Auron, best character in any jrpg. Wise, lonely, cynical and a bit rough but also brave and kind of heart, plus he was an unsent all the time and the fact he is a 35yrs that looks like a man in his 50s also add charm.
Also the best voice actor, in the English cast at least. Despite being the 1st FF with voice acting, Auron never sounded weird, unlike most of the rest of the cast.

Rogue Galaxy and KH2 were great choices on here, I'm happy to see them getting recognition I wish I could convince my Godchild to consider FFX. She doesn't like the gameplay, but I know she could get invested with the story
Final Fantasy X is in my opinion the Best PS2 game. And in my opinion, the best Final Fantasy. But I won’t argue with anyone who says VI, VII or IX is the best. I even love X-2 as well
Man, I hate the lack of recognition to Grandia saga, specially Grandia II. I wish they'd make a remake but it is so underated that it doesn't even show up in these lists and Square Enix will never drop off any on going FF project to work on a forgotten saga.

I haven't heard Rogue Galaxy since i played it last back in 2010. My personal favorites also included Suikoden V, Growlanser, Drakengard, Radiata Stories and Star Ocean till the end of time. There's also Grandia and Wild Arms. Mana Khemia and Ar Tonelico. Also Dokapon Kingdom, a chill game. God i miss the old days.

One of the reasons why PS2 is still the greatest console of all time simply because of its games that took hours to beat and yet still not 100% complete. Compared to the consoles with better graphics, developers created shorter games due to graphics.
I'm actually new to these games and playing them on Aether emulator, it's nice to be able to play a lot of the entire PS2 era I completely missed. I just completed FFX and halfway through FFX-2 (NGL I DON'T LIKE IT) I rage quit the Forgotten Realms DemonStone, it was a horrible experience, But I came here to research a few more for my emulator, maybe Baldurs gate is next😂
Radiata Stories was marvelous. Rogue Galaxy was very addictive, its bugs minigame was awesome. And FFX had the better story of all rpgs of all time. Thats my opinion.
Of these collection my first favorite is showers covenant I love it and I hope to make a new version or sequel the second is final fantasy x it was a classic and best game I ever got at that time and my third favorite is dark cloud 2 i I played the first one and I was happy with the second one I wish they make another one those games are the best I deserve to be remembered for all time.

ToA should be on the list no diss to ToS which is a JPN PS2 exclusive to begin with. ToA even introduced free running which all succeeding titles adapted.
Final Fantasy X was cool but XII was even better. Those hunts were awesome and the side quests were actually useful in building on the story, world and lore rather than pointless fetch quests. Who can forget about a whole race of bunny chicks? The art style was absolutely stunning. Same one from games like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy XIV. A shame it initially launched at the tail end of the PS2 lifecycle around when the PS3 was the next big thing. Glad it was rereleased and made even better.

The summer I spent 100%ing Kingdom Hearts 2 is one of my most cherished memories.
FFX, KH2 and Star Ocean 3 are probably my top rpgs from the PS2 era.

Right series, wrong parts. Wild Arms 5 and Suikoden 5 are far better than part 3 for both series IMO.

Samurai Legend Musashi was a good RPG. Not great due to the slow pace but nice none-the-less.

Radiata Stories was marvelous. Rogue Galaxy was very addictive, its bugs minigame was awesome. And FFX had the better story of all rpgs of all time. Thats my opinion.
Persona 4 is hands down my all time best PS2 rpg and favorite game! And Mana Khemia 2 is second!

Suikoden III is my favorite JRPG ever.
Of these collection my first favorite is showers covenant I love it and I hope to make a new version or sequel the second is final fantasy x it was a classic and best game I ever got at that time and my third favorite is dark cloud 2 i I played the first one and I was happy with the second one I wish they make another one those games are the best I deserve to be remembered for all time.

ToA should be on the list no diss to ToS which is a JPN PS2 exclusive to begin with. ToA even introduced free running which all succeeding titles adapted.
Final Fantasy X was cool but XII was even better. Those hunts were awesome and the side quests were actually useful in building on the story, world and lore rather than pointless fetch quests. Who can forget about a whole race of bunny chicks? The art style was absolutely stunning. Same one from games like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy XIV. A shame it initially launched at the tail end of the PS2 lifecycle around when the PS3 was the next big thing. Glad it was rereleased and made even better.
