  • Hi! I'm quite reluctant and scared to shared this but here we go! I really want to emphasise that people have very different experiences, and while the treatment centre I went to didn't work so well for me, it could still be great for you! I know several people who have really appreciated their time in residential.
ALSO whether or not you go inpatient, or have any treatment at all, your struggles are still valid!
    Lots of love xxx

I share so many of the same feelings with my ED that you do- I so appreciate this.

Soo many bad memories of all inpatient treatment stays- not being treated as a person and what felt like restrictive meal plans, people's EDs feeding off other people's EDs.....never again. I'm sure they actually worsen people's wellbeing. I'm so grateful to be outpatient now and working with practitioners who align with HAES and full recovery x

Sadly I think lots of people have experienced it and I think it is important to talk about. Residential treatment is yes at times lifesaving but long term isn't the answer. Thanks for sharing your experience xx

@@meganhorsham yeah unfortunately I think you're right. Residential treatment has great potential but there are some improvements that need to be made. xx

I had an awful time in day treatment in the uk. 5 years on I’ve pushed myself to get better and now I’m training to be a therapist because I don’t want others going through what I went through my counsellor was so bad I just got worse under her care. Everyone is different with what helps but even most of the patients on the ward I was on literally constantly told tales on each other and got each other in trouble.
