This series is FANTASTIC🙌🏻💗 so incredibly helpful and detailed and interesting to watch. I love It’s a Wonderful Life, I’m so glad you included it! It’s such a fantastic story, that while it has a slow build has fantastic payoff!!
The traditional “pack” ideology you’re likely referring to is a deeply flawed study that has since been disproven by experts. “Alpha” “beta” lol a pack of wolves is sadly more respectful and makes more sense than a lot of human institutions. But yeah maybe look up the new research. Yet another werewolf book is pretty cringe, a werewolf book with flawed and toxic misinfo is even worse.
In the moment she had me think about what I would say to the protagonist without hope, I had to pause the video. My heart sank, and my eyes became misted. This is just after the first draft of the prologue was finished last night. The journey of the characters, of friends in my mind's eye, is meaningful to me in a way that makes writing their adventures on the stark page bearing my soul for all to see, all that more meaningful. I was hoping you could think of this as my long-winded way of saying thank you for the inspiration. Ok now that thats over with i will continue on to watch the rest of the video.
I really have to thank you as an amateur writer. I'm writing my first book and this lessons your are giving me means a lot. Before watching it I didn't think too much about the psicology behind any specific action of the main character. I was so stupid that I thought people will easily understand by themselves. That's not true at all. You need to give the bad and good moments to the protagonist to show the reasons behind any of his/her action and mood. Thank you really. I'm not and English native person and I decided to write my book in English to improve my language skills. Moreover writing in this language I discovered how much I love it and also how good and satisfying it is to write a novel in this language. I will keep watching your videos to improve and became at least a decent story teller and writer. 😊
I know you wrote this a while ago, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for how much you helped me with this video. The way you talked so paxionately about it not only made me want to cry, but helped me love what I'm doing as a young writer and want to finish what I started. God bless you!💙
Minute 4:00 of this video is quite amazing. Yes...this is why I want to write...."You are giving your character an aha moment you wish you could give the world."
Never heard of the Ah-ha moment before.. and now realize how essential it is. THANK YOU!!! This is why all the great books and movies change the world... I get it. I get it. Wish sooooooo much I'd heard of this piece of advice before I had my book published. Would have loved it to be this clear. Love how you said: if the whole world comes to a stop... just to listen to you ... what are you going to say?" ........... very exciting stuff... and profound. Thank you, thank you. Laser-sharp advice and shown exactly where to fit in story... perfect. You are a natural teacher. Just went and showed your video with my wife and kids who are also writers. Instantly subscribed. Thank you.
Brandon Sanderson would say you should feel very happy because you accomplished what many set out to do but rarely achieve. You are already part of a very select group of people. You've accomplished what I have failed to do in 16 years. Congratulations! Good luck with your editing! 🙂
I drank champagne with kings and queens. The politicians praised my name. But those are someone else's dreams. The pitfalls of the man I became. For years and years I chased their cheers; the crazy speed of always needing more. But when I stop and see you here I remember who all this was for! And from now on these eyes will not be blinded by the lights. From now on what's waited 'til tomorrow starts tonight! It starts TONIGHT! And let this promise in me start like an anthem in my heart. From now on. From now on. FROM. NOW. ON.
Why am I crying? Thank you for your valuable teachings on storytelling, Abbie! As one of the examples you gave, the world is so much brighter with your wonderful presence in the world.

I've followed her for a while now, and honestly, I was about to be too busy to watch the video at the moment, but I recognized Chris Evans in the thumbnail and I clicked so fast! XD
Thank you again, Abbie, I have watched all of this series AND got your Master Class on Scrivner, which I installed I LOVE IT! You have truly changed my writing life.
What you said between 2.50 - 3.50 especially helped me very, very much. I paused your video, opened Word and wrote a short speech to my main character, just like you suggested. For the longest time, something in my story didn't quite work. I couldn't put my finger on it. And now everything clicks. I've heard and read about the 'aha-moment' before, of course, most of us aspiring writers have; but there are plenty video's about that. It's the way YOU brought it across. I think you have a gift, a talent.
I was waiting for you!!! Yayyyyy💕💕 I also love how energetic and excited you are about this😂😂 Edit(while watching the video): OMG GIFTED IS MY ALL-TIME-FAVORITE MOVIE!!!
Your excitement for this video was contagious. I also think I've watched too many of your videos because I said "Pride and Prejudice" before you did 😂😂😂🤦🏼♀️
Story time: I was pumping iron at the gym and my phone glitched out, playing the same part of a youtube video over and over. Luckily it was this one from 0:51 to 1:07
Abbie, I just discovered your channel and I have to say that my mind is blown. You put into words the reason why I've wanted to write from the very beginning...it was to shout my truths from the rooftops! I had read about theme and heard about tragic flaws but they just seemed like scattered pieces of a story that didn't quite fit with all the other mixed writing advice out there. But you explained so perfectly how desire, fear, and misbelief all tie into the aha moment in a story. Your videos are truly a blessing. Thank you for all you do and I wish you the very best!
Thank you Abbie! This has just helped me to produce my first short story for a creative writing contest, which I wrote about a man with agoraphobia. Happy holidays 😊
These case studies help me understand how important the disaster and aha moments are, & I thought they were the same thing even! It makes sense, you're videos are such a god send. Thank you so much!
I'm storyboarding my screenplay along with watching these videos beat by beat and this is such a huge help! The story is really becoming a full fleshed-out thing!!!
I think this is my favorite Abbie video. Not just because I was - again - moved to tears by "It's a Wonderful Life" (even the colorized version), and not just because you uncovered another movie worth seeing. No. It's because I finally clicked on what flaw and misbelief my character has - suspicion of others' motives - that in this story will be uncovered by his mistrust of someone he should trust. In fact, I think his conversion will also convert - or at least weaken - the funny yet dangerous "unreliable mentor" in the book. Thanks again, Abbie.
@@Cheesyenchilady yup, we did! Abbie told the whole story, concise with only the most precise visuals to make her point. That's great editing and that story is a tear jerker. Gonna watch it again 🥴🤓

I've been watching your videos today and I love that your approach to writing is about what you, the author, wants to tell the world. So many videos focus on events following events, but... What about the meaning? You're the author-youtuber I didn't know I needed!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel, videos, series, etc! I am sorry I don't give all that I watch a thumbs up, it's because I am watching/listening while doing housework and hands on things while on autoplay. I am learning and relearning soooo much! I also love that although you talk about writing books, because so much is about character and story, it is so easily translatable to screenwriting. Keep doing what you do!

I think I have two AHA moments. One aha moment, where someone tells my protagonist how wrong she was and shows her the truth and another one, where she really gets it. The disaster is in the middle of the two. I think this is a great way of making an aha moment that doesn’t come from nowhere.
