There are only three type of nafs mentioned in quran.
1) Nafs e Lawama
2) Nafs e Ammara
3) Nafs e Mutmainna.
This 4 he mentions are a part of the first.
It's all about serving basic needs and desires, low-value morals and patterns of behaviour,easy-money,power,control, low energy vibes, destruction, addictions, energy vampires, abuse ,molestation, murder, basically living out of the so-called reptilian part of the brain.
People who physically grow up emotionally stunted like this are known as narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths and also as codependent types who are food for the soul for the seitan-like personalities
@@ST-yc7uj Agreed. Big problem with them is they never want to accept this situation or probably they do not have solution to it.
@@syedjunaid3932 depends on which of the four someone has, some are reparable, some not.
It depends on the guilt or shame, which is the next big nafs. If it's too strong, they stay stuck. If it's moderate, they progress upward in a good way. If it's weak or non-existent, they stagnate again.
@@ST-yc7uj Masha Allah. Seems you have good info about these nafs issue. Mind if you can share rhe way to conquer them? Or judt to eradicate from ones soul? Any prescribed zikr?
I am not a muslim,so I cannot tell you what to pray.
In my opinion,prayer is not enough. One should learn more ,and many different explanations,out of the religion one was brought up and even outside of it. This makes a person knowledgable and able to comunicate with more people and build bridges among civilisations by mutual understanding of different philosophies leading to the common goal- the heaven.
As I was yearning for a way to explain the certain types of behaviours I noticed in a person who is a muslim,which I did not like and which I thought was wrong to apply in everyday life, I came across all the nafs in a lecture of a woman who is a former prostitute and a devoted muslimah. I decided to look further explanation of the first nafs after hearing her speech.
Sometimes, if you want to develop, you must even remove yourself from the surrounding that makes you stay underdeveloped, and the prayers can give you strength and courage to do so, but cannot do the work alone. Know when and what to give, know when and what to withold means having the first nafs, or the inner-child satisfied and under control.
1) cattle-like nafs
2) predatory nafa
3) satanic nafs
4) angelic nafs
@R A both classification of nafs is correct. it can even be more than four types depending your perspective. of course, Qur'an specifically mentions three types of nafs. the lecturer already knows about that because I have heard him talk about it in other lectures. thank you for stopping by to drop a comment

There are only three types of Nafs explanations in Qur’an.
He may be dividing one in to two and make it 4

It's haram to think that way. Allah tells tells us many times to purify ourselves. Why do you think people practice Tasawwuf? For riyaa? For the sake of subculture?
