Car Restoration Time-Lapse 1992 Daihatsu Charade 1 Litre Turbo Diesel

- Restoration work on my 1992 Daihatsu Charade 1 litre Turbo diesel which I started in 2018 when I brought it into my garage to make a welding repair on the sill and cure some rust on the A pillar. One job lead to another and the next thing I had the engine out to have a look at the inner wing, the windscreen was removed to get at the leading edge of the roof. I made many repairs using supplies from Micks Garage where I have an affiliate code www.micksgarage.com//?aff=28. E Fox Engineers sponsored me with Jefferson Professional Tools and Equipment. Soon a full outer body respray was on the cards using 2k acrylic paint from Motorcolor.ie and the engine was reconditioned by Cork Engine Centre. It all took the best part of 4 years with the car going in and out of the garage a couple of times to allow other projects to proceed. Hi, late to the party I know, but I thoroughly enjoyed all 51videos. I owned a 1.0CS in 1988; then two GTti's in 1991 Jxxx and 1994 K84 XX. I also had a 654cc Daihatsu Cuore Avanzato TR-XX-R4 (R298 RPY) which I waited a year to get from Harry Hockley - amazing car - loved Daihatsu when it was an independent manufacturer - so clever and not just an offshoot of Toyota. When I retire in a year or so, would love to do a project like this. This has inspired me to take it on. Thank you so much.
The Daihatsu Charade. Mine was a 1991. One of the best cars I have ever owned. Great fun.

Thanks for your story. My wife used this to practice for the driving test, 9 years ago when she was my fiancée. It was part of our proposal story so that’s why it was so important to restore.

Great work man, I have a Daihatsu Charade too from 1991. Only it's the petrol version. these days finding parts for this car is hard especially here in Serbia, but when you do find it, the car is rewarding and fun to work with and driving it is a pleasure. I admire your work and time spent on it keep up the good work. Cheers 😃.
Would you recommend getting one as a cheap transport? '91 charade 1 liter up for sale close to me for €500, might go have a look but don't want too much of a headache. From my little google research they seem reliable cars

Turbo diesel is such a rare beast! I’m currently “restoring” a 92 TS G100 running full turbo running gear from the G11 turbo (CB23+T). Basically the two door G100 turbo that never was.
Excellent work, I appreciate how much time went into this. I'm relatively new and didn't follow from the beinning - why did you decide to restore this particular car?
It was my wife’s first car and these are very interesting economic cars even by todays standards.
Amazing work, but it definitely needs a good amount of polish to get that orange peel out!
I love this car but never knew why did they put a diesel in it.
