Your tomatoes are done? What zone are you in. You need cats for the rats. lol Since they don't like the hot peppers you could try to liquify some and spray areas needed. Are they going to eat your potato seeds? Do you have wood ash to spread on the beds to deter the rats? Worth a try It won't change the pH. Wood ash also has calcium and natural lime and a host of other goodies. The potatoes will develop harder rather than soft and keep a whole lot longer. Good stuff is not always published on line. I doubt if rats will like walking on beds covered with wood ash. Hope you do another video with an update on the wood ash test on rats. Best of luck. I'd like to put in potatoes now. I'm in zone 6b.What is your grow zone? My Roma are still going strong.
Yes unfortunately they are done.....I am right on the boarder of 7a/b in Northern Alabama. I do have a barn cat running around but I think I created a safe-haven for rats by having electric mesh fencing around the garden to keep the larger creatures out....unfortunately "cat" falls into the same category as rabbit, raccoon, possum, etc .LOLOL I have a bunch of wood ash in my smokers right now. It sure wouldnt hurt to put it on my fall crops and will definitely give it a try. I think the mesh electric may have to come down as well. I have Muscovey ducks that LOVE to root around in the garden as well so that may become an issue. I swear if it isnt one thing its another. I will not give up though. this is officially WAR! LOL. Thanks for the suggestions and good luck with your fall garden!
