59 minutes!? bruh it took me an entire day worth of work only to get an odd looking untextured viewmodel, anyway what version of HLMV are you using? mine crashes with any 3d models (also tried from the newest to the oldest versions but the problem still persisted)

I use the HLMV of nmrih, in the bin folder. best to open it through Crowbar after setting the nmrih profile in the "set up games" tab, then preview tab

one question, what if you weightpainting one arm then mirror after that do minor adjustments on both hands, I wonder does it work that way in Blender?

won't really work, for example you mirror the left arm that already has the weightpainting done, all fine but when you try check the right arm you notice that its weights are shared with the left arm.
that's the main problem of this situation, you would probably be better off doing the weightpainting from 0 for the right arm. try to just replicate the left arm's weightpainting to the right one, no secret.

@@TheMunitor-u8j Ah I get it now, it works like vehicle's wheel, both left and right doing the same motion symmetrically. If Blender has the option to choose on/off for split feature for mirror, that could save bunch of times as well
