Luke 6:35, we are even supposed to love our enemies. If we truly love God then we can love our enemies and pray for them instead of hating and cursing them.
What’s more is if we are supposed to lead people to Christ and these politicians claim to be Christians then why would they not accept everyone to be in this country so they could hear the good news?
The Latin countries are Catholic. You'd think being Catholic would buy them some sympathy. JD Vance is Catholic. I'm pretty sure the Pope doesn't agree with him on this. I guess being Christian doesn't fit in that circle of love.
Vance argument is actually very strong in catholic circles. He summoned catholic tradition on "order of love" here pope can only argue that it did go overboard. 5:56
One cannot follow Jesus and the State. They will always conflict. Jesus asked for forgiveness for those that were actively killing him. There’s our standard for love.
yes it does, we are all created by god, there are no "illegal" human beings. jesus said we would be sent to hell if we did not welcome immigrants ( the stranger) and we would enter heaven if we welcomed immigrants. the same applies to how we treat the hungry, the thirsy, those in prison and those who are sick. you think jesus loves american citizens more than he loves immigrants? and lets get real, its black and brown immigrants that trump and biden hate, biden welcomed 100,000 white ukrainians into the usa and I didnt see fox or cnn condemning that.
The irony is that samaritans and jews were similar enthnically and same linguistically. So most fitting application would be to show kindness to MAGA crowd. Yet, this seems to elude this speaker.
I do not see where he is saying not to love MAGA. Calling Christians out for not following the teachings of Christ seems to me to be a service to Christians. If more people would do it, maybe we would have a Christianity in this country worthy of the name of the one who founded it.
If only you had the self-awareness to grok that YOU talk about MAGA people in the same way that SOME of them talk about illegal immigrants. If you don't comprehend that the first obligation of the government of a country is to improve the lives of its own citizens, which necessarily includes determining who is allowed to come into the country and who isn't, into then you shouldn't talk about politics but stick with religion. Perhaps you know the Bible better than I do, but I don't remember Jesus grappling with the responsibilities of running a country. On the other hand, I do remember him saying that his kingdom was not of this world.
Illegal immigrants pay billions in withholding taxes into Medicare and Social Security. That's money they will never see because they can't legally claim either of those things. That benefits YOU. Illegal immigrants buy goods and services and pay sales taxes which go directly to state and local governments. They also help keep small businesses afloat. That benefits YOU. They occupy jobs in the hospitality and medical industries, both of which suffer from worker shortages. That benefits YOU. They work in the agriculture industry for low wages. That benefits YOU. Tell me how illegal immigrants have actually harmed you. When I was young and living in Texas, Mexicans and Americans traveled both north and south every day on just a driver's license, some stayed a while and some didn't. No one ever saw a problem with that system until we made it illegal. I think that most people would agree that we need sensible immigration and border policies. But the GOP doesn't want to come to the table to even talk about how to develop such policies. They're intent on one goal: getting rid of everyone who is here illegally. One very simple mitigation process would be to establish the legal right to work here for most of these people. There doesn't need to be a path to citizenship, just the right to come and go legally. They keep their jobs, we keep the benefits we are already reaping. But no, 47 and his ilk have thrown dust into so many people's eyes, they can't see the truth of the situation. And finally, if you are a Christian, you must love your neighbor. The Bible is full of the requirement that God's people must treat the immigrant well, because the Israelites were once immigrants. When 47 demonizes humans that are created in the image of God, he is acting in an anti-Christian fashion, and when so-called Christians follow his lead, may God have mercy on them as they directly violate God's commandments.
Are you not now “groking”. America is more than just a country it is an ideal for all peoples. Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself. Not love them less then your fellow citizens. If the kingdom of Christ is not of this world then Vance has no right to say use the bible as a defense for political motives. So then why is a theologian wrong for pointing that out?
The failure to recognize the tension between the ideal and the real, what Schweitzer called the opposition between the ethical and the necessary, is the hallmark of the unhinged liberalism that has left American society in tatters, and which fueled the election of a bully like Trump over a warmonger like Harris. I voted for neither.

They can govern, but don't call what they are doing Christianity.
Question, If the government changed it so that lacking legal status became a criminal offense, would you then consider them as being criminals?

@@sebastiankaczmarek635 Thank god for the reformation.

So loving your neighbor = open borders?
Crazy leap in logic, right?

Hug left and punch right. Where that fits in the ordo amoris, I have no idea. Lol.

@@charleskann886 Last four years were absolute disaster and progressive Christians did nothing but add to the mess. Do you agree?

Exactly!
Unfortunately most “christians” follow the christian RELIGION and not the Man it is named for.

These “leaders” are claiming to be christian, so they definitely should be called out on their anti-christian behavior.
