@@Fanatator F45 is pretty limited on payload, a good WSO could let a pair of F26 go absolutely apeshit though. Air defence got a pretty big upgrade to keep up with the jamming equipment and fool ARAD weapons, and could feasibly eat an F45s whole payload before the actual targets started exploding.
This is a good point! I did include a "for the money it costs" hoping people would already know it costs a whopping 12 USD, but I _should_ have included this in the video. My apologies. This is _incredibly_ cheap for what this is, and well worth the bang for the buck, imho. It is essentially like getting a brand new DCS module for 12 dollars :)
I agree that it's vastly different, impressively so. EW is a mechanic that is woefully overlooked by ED (DCS devs). VTOL VR definitely is a step up in atleast a few ways now.@@isaacbristow6905
I’d highly recommend reading the EF-24G manual, it goes over everything to do with the jets systems and how jamming works. It’s also compiled like a NATOPS which is cool.
Interestingly when I tried it I didn't find its performance that remarkable, but I did so in a vacuum (as in, not comparing it with another aircraft). I noticed the afterburner *chugs* fuel so you have to be careful not to overuse it, and I had two ECM pods + full compliment of ARAD missiles dragging me down. It also had poor turning performance, which is understandable given the relatively small surface area of the wings, even at full forward. Still seemed like a beast of a plane, tanking two IR missiles, and a third one only took out the engines, no full explosion.
The limitations you mentioned are great though because it keeps the whole game balanced. If it was as agile as the games F15, it would be a cheat code.
Last night, the announcement dropped, my discord was shitting the bed, but still, I got the notification that the DLC dropped, I bought it immediately, it was not even shown on the Steam page for me, I had to manually find it, that's how early I was buying it. This is the first DLC for any game in my 11 years of Steam that's gotten me so excited that I actively tracked its release. I can't wait to do proper SEAD with an actual squadron, just hope I don't run into too many HOJ missiles.
On my first take off in the mischief i did 300 knots... ON THE GROUND. Over 300 actually, almost hitting 400. Now i did go a little longer on the runway because i'm used to a fully equiped t55 which has the twr of a goddamn city bike.
"Yo bew VTOL DLC Dropped" *adds to cart and instantly purchases it* Gets confused about the 12€ paypal message later in the day because i literally did not pay a single strain of attention towards the price.
Question, I got the game but have yet to play it. What is the best path forward for someone who has never played it to get into the game and learn it. Are there tutorials built within the game?
Welcome to VTOL! Unfortunately there is no dedicated tutorial section of the game (that I know of). However the game's learning curve is actually extremely tame compared to what it might seem like at first. Once you learn one aircraft, you kinda learn them all sorta deal, since they all use the same general UI and cockpit layout. There might not be any in-game tutorials, however there is a MASS of media about how to start aircraft, use systems, weapons, and survive in a combat environment. I'm thinking about doing reviews and tutorials on aircraft here on YT itself, seems fun and promising. My advice would be to watch some tutorials to create a baseline for yourself, watch some gameplay to get motivated to play the game, and then jump right in and see what you can and can't do. Once you know what you can and can't do, you'll know what to look up and learn :) There's discords you can ask questions in, wiki for any general info, and mass of videos done by a lot of different creators here on TH-cam. Have fun! I miss the days where everything was fresh and new. If you want any links to resources, just ask and I'll do what I can. _EDIT_ There is an actual dedicated tutorial section of the game- Im not sure how I missed it, but its right there in the main menu. It'll kick start your ventures here in VTOL, however it won't make you an ace right outta the gate, and theres plenty of tactics and mechanics to learn after the fact. Apologies for being wrong, Obligated to correct.
Definitely start with the first plane you see, the "kestrol". It's a much tamer campaign that doesn't throw you in,(unlike the f 26) there are in gane tutorials but that was not nearly enough. I watched almost all of the "tutorials nuggets" this game isn't too hard to learn
I was hoping the t-55 would have the speed of the f-16, but it doesn't unfortunately, maybe its just my dcs f-16 experience, but the t-55 is kind of bla.
Really not that bad... I mean, I play DCS all the time, so not being in burner constantly makes sense... but just take some tanks if that's a concenrn.
Nah, the dlc always adds in new features, the wasp is the air superiority, and the f45 covers stealth. The f22 is too similar to these platforms so it would be wasted dev time for baha
I can’t wait to see people pairing this thing with the F-45 working in sync with each other.
Try *against* it, finally we have something that can counter the F45 if you're smart
Creating a safety bubble for f45 makes SEAD disgusting

You're making it sound like it's a DCS module in price... It's $12...

I have never been so clueless when flying a plane in vtol, no clue what I’m doing to jam stuff 😂
I’d highly recommend reading the EF-24G manual, it goes over everything to do with the jets systems and how jamming works. It’s also compiled like a NATOPS which is cool.

The SuperTomcat we never got :(
We have it just not in the reality we call real
I know its un understatement but STEALTH FREAKING TOMCAT!!!

I had flaps down fully and it literally took off by itself lol, a nice gentle lift off and ascent.
I can't imagine your wheels enjoyed that too much.

they could add a single seat Helicopter, or add a dedicated interceptor with low G pulling capabilities like the Mig25/31
We could use a Turboprop ground attacker eh? Kinda like that armed crop duster thing ..
@@Swatmat fair point.
I forgot this is a small game sometimes.
What about a bomber?
B52 or smth
Or maybe a cargo plane, or large ground attack plane
wish there were clouds
Kind of a dumb guy here, but if this jet was real, the pilots would spend a lot of time unconscious. The g’s seemed pretty epic.
now for the furry livery
dw theres a femboy one already
Hehehehehe
interesting video choice but the background music is kinda goofy lmaoo
Kinda sounds nice honestly makes me want to fall asleep
Music goes hard asf

Hallo da
Funny how VTOL VR sims RCS but DCS doesn't, i feel vtol is a simplified DCS and funny enough more realistic in certain aspects. hats off to the dev's.
this is the same man that coded missiles, guns, dogfighting AI and radar cross section into kerbal space program he is just too good.
Hard to call someone a "fantastic developer" when he wont put HOTAS bindings in a flight simulator.
...in a VR only flight simulator....
Because nobody but the dcs nerds wants that
