  • Battery Megastore presents a short guide how to top up motorcycle battery that comes with acid pack. In the video we used Exide YTX9-BS battery that would fit so popular motorcycles like: Honda FES150, Suzuki GSX-R750 and many more. The same procedure applies to all other motorcycle batteries manufactured by Yuasa and Varta that come with separate acid packs.

Failure to charge the battery at the initial fill will greatly reduce the batteries performance and life. Always charge the battery when filling. The rule of thumb is 1 amp for every amp hour of the battery. Example: the battery in the video is a 9 amp hour battery. Charge for 9 hours at 1 amp.

Jimmy Phillips I thought this when I saw it would only have 80% charge when 'ready'. Thanks for the advice

Doesn't the manual for this one mention that you should leave it for about 30min before closing the lid? I have a ETX14-bs and it says it.

I'm a total noob here. What do you mean by "After 35 to 40 minutes the battery will be charged by 80%"? Since I never seen anything else on what is happening in the video? What do I do?

It's not recommend but you can. But if there isn't enough acid left in the battery you won't get any capacity back.
