@@DiceCommando I mean, it was kinda amusing after so many discussions about Emperor, including bringing AB 2 for him, before actually clicking that there is currently a wizard in Blitz... "But he's a multiclass, so it's weird"
Great cast as always and it's dope to see Wesley back for another episode like this! I think what bothers me is that blitz continues to be look down on as a competitive format - I understand that James mentioned that their focus is more towards CC and limited play, but I feel like blitz can totally have its own place and can bring more and more casual players (and hopefully if they're up for it, become semi-competitive like myself to playing bigger events, proquests, Battle Hardeneds, Callings, etc) into the fold moreso than just going straight into CC. I love blitz, and it was the format that got me started into the game the right way (I'm glad i didn't get into CC until about a couple months after because this game is already hard as it is), coincidentally (and i'm really glad this happened) with the DC crew. Even after a couple months, I was still trying to get used to the CC format. As for Twitter, I agree that most people who play this game aren't on Twitter (for a variety of valid reasons), and it's unfortunate that we may never hear their feedback publicly about how playing Flesh and Blood (especially if it's blitz that they really enjoy playing the game with) because the loudest voices in the room are the most competitive and represent the best in the game. There's nothing wrong with that, but I just wished we had another platform / avenue for LSS to hear feedback about how the more casual crowd is coming along with playing this game that we all love. Anyway, I'm probably just another old man yelling at cloud. Maybe that other format (that other FaB players are trying to get more into the mainstream that came from trying to better the blitz format) called Clash is the answer. I haven't played Clash yet but I've heard good, constructive things about that format.
There's a lot of great conversation here and a lot of good points back and forth. Forgive me if I haven't gotten to the point yet, but we haven't really mentioned the possibility of the secondary market plan into the acquisition of blaze or any other exclusive hero in the future and I think that changes the narrative greatly. 42:20

This is a spicy video! I think the short term will be rough if they eventually release her in like an all arcane set... Worse case this is a hero that remains exclusive...
Jokes aside I do agree with most things said in the video tbh though. Blitz no longer being a priority format or really considered anything other than just fun kinda sucks. I guess blitz will be how I get my friend group into just playing the game for fun and will also push more jank based deck lists, but it kinda just sucks that blitz is just seen as the casual fab format now rather than treated like its own game held side by side with cc. The moment they make an exclusive adult hero though is when I start to cry
Isn't blaze the participation promo for the skirmish events in blitz? Reading about the UK games expo event itself, it says that she will be legal in that event and will be a participation promo so performance shouldn't matter there, but that doesn't mean the supply won't be limited
Quote from the games expo event itself: "With Blaze not only available as a participation promo, but also legal for this event, this will be a fantastic opportunity to use this new card. You will need to bring along a Blitz deck,, however new players can also use pre-constructed decks for this event."
@@EloquentEulogy The UK games expos are not Skirmishes. You specifically referenced Skirmish, which is a competitive season that will be happening in August timeframe.
I think it's too hard of a conversation to have and balance at any official event. As a TO I always just default to the rules, to avoid arguments and hurt feelings.
As someone who recently sold their whole FAB collection, I really dislike where LSS is going with their prizes. It’s nigh impossible to collect things every season now because we get bombarded with stuff now. It would be fine if the secondary market didn’t demand ridiculous prices for some of these flashy cards. It’s becoming MTG level of annoyance with things like that. Luckily the game is still amazing. As long as the game stays good then it’s got a place on my kitchen table but I’m never touching FAB collecting again.
Great discussion, definitely agree with you guys that they are right up against the line of what is acceptable and if they don't cross it great but if they do it's going to be really frustrating.
I hate everything about Blaze. And in general I hate how LSS handles hero cards, particularly adult heroes. Hero cards should be as freely available as basic lands or energy cards are for MtG and Pokemon. You should be able to walk in to your LGS and get any hero card you need for your deck. Foundational game pieces that you need to play the game should not be a barrier of entry for new players. It's especially terrible in a hero-centric game like FaB where a huge draw for new players is finding the hero that you identify with. Imagine trying to convince a new player to get in the game and you're showing them all the heroes in the game and you get to Blaze and their eyes light up and they go "That's the hero for me". And then you have to tell them that oh that hero was only available at a convention so if you want to play it you'll have to order one for $50 or $100 online. I can't imagine a way of turning off a prospective new player faster.
100% agree. It should be like a video game: you can start any hero with basic equipment for free, but you must "earn" the legendary weapons and equipments. Feels more natural to me this way.
This. So much this. I recall when me and my playgroup was just starting to get into the game, having an MTG background and loving janky decks, one of them wanted to try Shiyana but decided not to when we found out the price for the hero card alone. He's maining Mechanologist now but what about future new players?
Adult heroes being in the majestic slot is dumb, but they are so cheap that they basically are free, could be worse, Blaze will either be out in the next set or in a deck and then she will most likely be really cheap as well. LSS seems to be trying to get more collectors out to the big events to have a good showing for the game, which makes sense to me.
@@stigmurder99 They are not basically free especially if no one locally has one. I know our store has only ever opened 1 Adult Prism and 1 Adult Dash I/O. Telling a prospective player "just go buy one online" is incredibly off putting. Easiest solution is just box toppers. Every box comes with a box topper with every non draftable hero in the set. You buy a box and your guaranteed so the heroes and stores will have plenty of them to give away. And you can even bring back young+adult double sided hero cards that way, people loved those.
I wouldn't bet on Blaze being in the arcane set. My friends and I thought red Bittering Thorns was a shoe-in for MST but nope. Once Blessing of Qi was revealed as the last ninja card I sprinted into TCGplayer for my playset of rBT. I already had two that I sold after MST was announced while they were high.
For me personally, I don't have the time to go to a Con to acquire the card but would like the card to play with. It will be interesting to see how available it will be in the skirmish season and if it will be available in another product down the road. Should it prove difficult to get then I'll be disappointed.
Blitz is kinda in a weird place, it’s the format that I prefer because it’s a lot quicker and plays better in large groups. Having games go to 30 minutes is very much ideal, and CC is fine but either matches take 20 minutes for a high roll or the full allotted amount of time. I like having time to have post game chats with my friends, which isn’t doable in CC as often. I don’t think LSS is doing enough for casual players to want to join in the game, and making exclusives for armory or skirmish winners will only exhaust as much. One Piece and the several Disney TCGs are very much out performing FaB locally. But One Piece has been the most interesting as it seems like the core of the community are 20+ in age and are card game players. But then again playing more than 4+ rounds of CC at a normal armory is a big time commitment, so I’m not sure if I do want quite as big of a local community consistently.
There will be plenty of people buying the card at conventions from people who don’t care to keep it. It will change hands on TCGplayer and discord. Plus wizard is not the most popular class. I think LSS threaded a needle here and it will be OK. Not too worried about precedent setting due to how James addressed it with Fluke and Box
I think this video is a bit of a knee jerk reaction without all the information available on how else we will get access to Blaze. I think should have waited till have all the facts available. She may very well be in the First Strike decks too.
I’m personally not okay with hero being too expensive, this Enigma New Moon hero is probably gonna be around 60-120 bucks and if blaze isnt available in the first trike decks or as door prize for skirmish, she could be very expensive as well. This could kill blitz for me entirely.
