Welcome Back Di 1102 - Easter 2018 (HD)

During Easter Weekend 2018, Di 1102 made its come back to the rails when it made its first public appearance on the Ferrymead Railway operating passenger services over the long weekend. After nine long years of hard work undertaken by the dedicated team at the Diesel Traction Group, Di 1102 now undergoes the testing and certification stage to mainline running on the KiwiRail network, by gaining as many hours and mileage in service on heritage railways. We capture the locomotive making light work on the Ferrymead Railway on Easter Monday running as a single unit with the passenger service. All going well, Di 1102 will return to the mainline later this year and be put to use on mainline excursions, potentially her first charter will be in October with Dg 772, enjoy!

Loco looks in very good condition as good as new maybe better, beautiful paint, real nice shine deep luster, no visible dents i could see.

Coming from the country that started it all I can honestly say this is one of the finest restorations I have seen. A quick look at this :-

will make you realise just how utterly mad we are about steam and diesel. 36,000 steam and diesel eingines - bl**dy ell. We are even building new ones like 'Tornado' and 'The Prince of Wales' is next. Why ? The same reason this beast has blood in her viens again, we all admire a lovely piece of machinery. I well remember the days of steam and to be honest I like the idea of making a bacon sandwich on a coal shovel. However that Deltic was rather tasty. Your Di 1102 is a credit to all who helped restore her and may you go on to do many others. Good luck to you all - Regards.
