    hello mathias, how do you calculate the percentage of the time of your races in relation to your PB?

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fractions. If you have an 11s PB, and run 12s. Just divide 11 with 12 (11/12=0.916). This means the average m/s for a 12s 100m is 91.6% of a 11s 100m

    man i need an advice for free lap. i have issues with it, starter in particular. you see i can't figure out is it also a cone which detects movement or not. i have times on it like 2 minutes or so. that happens when i put one LAP cone between the starter and finish. for the lap it says 2 minutes but for finish it says the normal 30m time. also when we accidentally solve that (we kept having that issue later), we tried one full 60m from the blocks, me and my training partner. we are both 6.8 sprinters and we were doing this in competition cycle of training, so we were ready. we have put the finish cone 80cm after the finish line and i had 7.13 and he had like 7.30 something. we knew that it was wrong because the trainer timed 6.3 for me on stopwatch and 6.4 for him. can you tell me how you setup your starter and cones, i would really appreciate it.

    @-vll- ปีที่แล้ว

    When you time your 30m flys do you usually get around the same times whether you hand time or use free lap? I’m trying to convert my 30m fly to a 60m and 100m time but I’m not sure if the charts are for fat or hand time or both.

    it's interesting that he mentioned the importance of avoiding a long flight time, but he also does lots of jumping exercises with a large vertical displacement of the COM. It doesn't make sense..

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's about balance. The vertical force production is not meant to increase flight time, bur to reduce Ground Contact Time.
      Even though the flight time is short, the vertical forces on footstrike at top speed are enormous, hence the vertical jumping exercises
      If I was unable to produce large vertical forces at touchdown I would not be able to have a short Ground Contact Time, makes sense?

    • @Leonidas-eu9bb
      @Leonidas-eu9bb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hovejoha I deal alot with sprinting mechanics and forces. So i understand your point.
      But i'm a big believer against the vertical force theory. It's always horizontal impulse what makes any object move/accelerate horizontal.
      Shorter ground contact times are the result of faster running speed. Faster running comes from more horizontal impulse not vertical. It's a fact that the COM only shifts vertical by ~4-5cm (~2,5% of height). Elite sprinters have a higher ratio of horizontal to vertical COM movement. It's very possible to achieve much higher vertical forces and higher RFD just by doing jumps in place as you do. So i think the vertical force can't be the limiting factor. Vertical stiffness is not the limiting factor. There are enough athltes with a cracy high RSI but they still haven't worldclass speed.
