    Sure looks like "peak oil" isn't anytime soon. Wasn't that supposed to be in the mid-90s?
    On the other hand, keep burning that and "peak temperature" probably won't be anytime soon either, but "peak population" will ...

      I think a lot of the remaining reserves are very hard to extract and tied to stuff like shale and tar sands and are giving a significantly lower EROI (Energy return on investment) rate than the oil that was extracted earlier in the history.

    This isn't really accurate as it is mostly self-reported. There is a lot of doubt that Saudi Arabia has anywhere near that much discovered oil. They 'discovered' huge amounts in the early 1950s when they were seeking western support. But to date, all of their actual production has come from oil that was discovered in the 1920s. The same is true of Venezuela and Iraq, they both self-reported finds that have never been developed or verified by anyone except their own govt.
