We used to have similar Health and Safety standards not that long ago.

Good observation, that is the step of risk assessment
Thanks for the feedback ☺️

Back in the 1960's and 1970's, my grandad recycled copper in more or less this manner. What he did was stack a bunch of old wooden pallets, throw many old used electrical motors on the pallets and everywhere else he could find a crack or crevasse. Of course, he'd make sure this process was located in a somewhat slope area. He would then douse the pallets with some diesel and light that sucker on fire. He would do this at night so the smoke would not alarm anyone. Pallet Oak wood is treated with some sort of chemical that creates lots of smoke. Granted, he worked on this in the outskirts of the city making for his work invasive-free from the emergency people. He would let these electric motors burn all night or until there was no more fire. He would than wait one day or so to let the motors cool off. He would then crack open the motors with a hammer and chisel. After the motors were cracked open he'd pull out the copper wire with pliers. The Copper wire was taken to the scrap yard and categorized and bought as # 2 Copper wire. Remember when I wrote something about the slope? Well, the slope acted as a channel in where all the melted aluminum would collect and when cooled off it too was sold as to the recycling facility as scrap aluminum. The motor casing were also sold as scrap iron. About the only thing that went to waste was the coating that is added to the copper wire when being fabricated. I believe this coating is called shellacking. I'm not to sure on what you call it. Electric motors consist of the cage which is steel, aluminum alloy and copper wire. Regardless if the copper wire was stranded or thick...it was categorized as # 2 copper wire. If you are wondering what is # 1 Copper with it is non-stranded bare bright copper with no contamination of lead, steel or aluminum.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback

Anyone have an idea as to what shielded coaxial cable that thick would be used for, and so much of it.
Thanks for the feedback
That shielding is required for power cables operating above 2,000 volts.
The reason for the shielding is to protect the surrounding area should the cable insulation fail.
