I love how you review ALL levels of ukuleles. I put this as a great uke for an apocalyptic world. It makes great kindling and it will not break your heart to burn. it! Thanks, Baz!
These are beyond useful, in my humble opinion. You can appreciate more the ones that are made well and why they cost what they cost. Thank you Baz, as always!
Thank you for reviewing the good, the bad and the and the ugly! Your reviews have taught me so much of what to look for when shopping for a ukulele. Very much appreciated.
Jerry Rosa. Luthier at Rosa string works has a saying which is ‘ The action was so high you could Chuck a dog through it’ always makes me laugh. Another is It’s as slick as snot on a door knob. Thanks for the review Barry.
Thank you Mr. Maz, for another great review. Please consider reviewing the Aklot Mahogany ukulele, I quite enjoy my Tenor scale Aklot in Mahogany, I would love to hear your opinion about it. Cheers, from Ontario Canada, across the proverbial pond.
Amazon/eBay instrument reviews are more useful to consumers because we cannot go to a shop and try them first. Please consider reviewing the Aklots and Batking ones, both sell solid timber topped ukuleles.
I try to feature as many Amazon instruments as I can, but bear in mind I don't recommend buying from Amazon. WIll never feature Aklot on my site - they flatly lied to me about their marketing tactics. I will have nothing to do with them and would encourage others to give them a wide berth too.
need to review them all - and also be prepared to call a bad one - no matter the price. Otherwise it's just product placement - plenty of other channels do that.
Spot on review. There are plenty of examples out there that a beginner would benefit from and get great value, which you mention. I wondered what happened to all the pallets that get recycled 🙃. Looks like barbeque fodder to me. Thanks again for a great review. Have a good weekend everyone.
I regularly get people calling me a snob when I say bad things about bad, cheap instruments. A quick look at my reviews list will show there are plenty of cheap instruments I DO recommend.
Great video! My first ukulele came from Amazon during the pandemic 2020 - a Kmise concert. It did it's purpose, got me hooked and I've kept with it. I didn't want spend more than £60 due to not knowing with work etc. Then I bought a better one about three month later as I was playing it everyday and found it so much easier to play and alot better sounding. But I wouldn't have got hooked without buy the cheap one from Amazon first.
Whilst I can't dispute that Amazon offers a risk free step on the ladder for ukulele, couple of observations 1. You'll find that the specialist bricks and mortar uke shops can and do match Amazon prices - essentially, they have to. 2. There is no getting away from the fact that Amazon instruments are factory direct. Whilst you may get one that doesn't need work, the ratio I see of those that do to don't is very offputting. Nothing more likely to drive you away from sticking with ukulele is one that doesn't play properly.
Great review...very indepth! This was like reading the manual but more fun :) Do people even read manuals anymore though...lol. Great job on your video :)
I only buy from Amazon when I have had vouchers, Flight soprano been great, Southern Wind tenor ok, this one will not be on my list! Snail concert was Southern Ukuleles, very good one.
I actually thought it sounded better strummed than fingerpicked. I think people go for those because they look nice in the photos, the dubious 5 star reviews and all those accessories they throw in for free, which are probably even junkier than the ukulele itself.
Amazon? Ugh! Everyone should steer clear. This would be a good uke for an arts and crafts project, like our annual uke decorating contest. They’re all strictly wallhangers.
@@GotAUkulele stuff like that gets painted over. Most don’t have strings. One was covered in mirrors. Another in feathers! They even make decent piñatas if you use a baseball bat.
Hello Barry, "interessting" Brand - haven't heard from it before. The sound isn't as bad as I would expect it when I see the look (escpecially the neck is looking very ugly from behind) I think there are some better looking and sounding instruments for this price available (perhaps the Flight TUS Travel UKE as you mention) Thanks for reviewing!!!! Kind regards from Germany, Bettina
I thought the sound was flat and uninspiring - no life to it. Of course TH-cam equalises volume on uploads so - trust me - in the flesh it's pretty plain sounding.
It looks like three or four brands on Amazon Are made in the same factory in China. I like the looks of it but not the letters around the sound hole. I see you totally agree. Overall it looks like it’s cheaply made. I don’t like it at all. This is more like a $25.00 ukulele. I started on a Vangoa Saprano that was set up and built far better then this one. In fact I hardly had to ever tune it even though I did each time I played it. It sounds cheap and plastic to me. Lol and I wrote this just before you said it 😂 on the same page with this one… great review enjoyed it….. DOC
Those Vangoa ukes are leagues above these. End of the day - there are far more ukulele brands in China than there are factories - the difference is how they approach quality control - which in this case seems to be 'not at all!'
wow terrible. In addition to the poor sustain it also sounds muffled to me... almost as if something were covering the sound hole. Thanks for the review
Hi Barry. Your t shirt appears to be encouraging your subscribers to buy it. I chose not to choose tripe (as Renton would probably say). Anyway, Great, bad review. It does make a change to see a horrible instrument.

Only way to do it
Don’t burn a Ukulele. Remember that Red horror that nearly killed you 😂😂
I enjoy a review of bad instrument. Often there is something to laugh about and I don't get a hankering to own one which is nice. Great review.
I quite like them when they come along - been a while!

My pleasure

My pleasure - and glad it helped - I always try to cover all bases. Would be too easy to only review high end stuff..
I almost bought this! Holy mama-mia. Well done review.
A good one for Bonfire night! Thanks Baz. xx

Ha ha! spot on!
Had a guitar with high strings someone said you could drive a truck under which made me laugh.
Love you.. ..you make me laugh 😃 Thanks for awesome reviews always
You are so welcome!
Will be honest - thought more than one person (so far) would see the tongue in cheek connection between the T Shirt and the uke!
@kittieconvoy Ha ha - was deliberate - but did wonder whether the 'that's a load of tripe' phrase would transfer beyond the UK?
@@GotAUkulele I'm Caribbean-Canadian. We eat tripe lol

At least the strings are knotted in the correct direction! But I don’t think it will find a place on my Christmas list.
Take the strings off and it would make a great birdhouse lol 👍.

Read the video title as 'Hawkwind Concert Ukulele'.
The idea of a prog/psychedelic/space rock ukelele is an intriguing one.
Imagine Lemmy on a uke...

Absolutely and if I were to do it again under different circumstances I'd have gone straight to a Uke Store.

Tis a fine birdhouse, sir.
That laser etching is terrible, at first glance I thought it was Roman Numerals which would have at least been a tiny bit creative.
Couldn't quite believe it when I looked close either!
I thought it was Elvish runes.
I really hate etching on an instrument. I only see that on ukuleles. Yuck.
Well that is not a uke I'd spend money on when there are so many better options. Great review!
Nor me!
I'm not generally opposed to rosettes...this one is horrible😯Great review as always. I honestly expected this one to sound worse.

Definitely a lot of dodgy reviews on Amazon!
What was the point of making that? Not even a passable beater... (may be competent at beating a rug though).
Thanks for the review.
Bandwagon jumping..
Oh well, might as well play it until that bridge tears loose. Then be sure to remove the plastic parts before you toss it into the fireplace!
